Slowly, Ji Eun finds herself getting  more involved in Sehun's dark past. And as time pasts, she starts falling for Jongin instead.

I like to write how I like to read, not too much, but not that little, just enough to give me the right feels.

GENESIS

Two Years Ago

Kai lay there, straight for two days, on the cold concrete. Others thought that he could've rot there, but his soul was still intact and fighting, his heart, pulsing with weak beats.
 

"Just leave him alone." Kris sneered to the newborns behind him two nights before. Kai was nothing but a body to him now. He gave him a chance, but he didn't take it. Kris wondered why Kai treasured friendship and loyalty over his missions. Love was something that shouldn't exist his world. All of his followers knew this. To rig humanity off their hearts, he made his followers vampires. Cold blooded creatures, heartless and numb to the world.
 

But Kai and Sehun were a special pair. Their hearts were warm with love. And as eery as it sounds, Kris was a half vamp-he had the traits of vampires and humans, a special gift of reading minds, but he had been locked out of love. His father was a vampire, and his mother a human. He was a bastard child never to be born, and to get back to the world for the love he couldn't ever feel, he had his own vampire gang. To kill those who posessed too much love. All members were never let in on why that had to kill their victim. They just finished their jobs neatly and left the rest to Kris.
 

Kris rubbed his temples. He would consider something else, if Sehun came back. Kris waited and it was way past midnight. Sehun wasn't there yet and he was getting impatient.

Did he ditch his brother?

On the other hand, Sehun was creeping up a bedroom, somewhere in the country. As soon as he lifted the girl's bed covers, he pulled aside to the wall. That couldn't be Ji Eun. Why would anyone want her dead? He clutched onto the ends of his knife and dug it deeper into the ends of his jeans. Sweat slicked his forehead as he contemplated to run away. Kill her. He could hear Kris nag in his mind but he didn't want to kill this young girl. She deserved to live.
 

For all the missions he was on, he killed relentlessly. But memories of Ji Eun slashed through his mind. For whatever reason he didn't know, he never let his feelings interfere with his work, until he felt somesort of a crush on this girl. She was truly special, he couldn't kill her. Should he sacrifice his brotherhood and abandon his gang or kill Ji Eun? He was at a crossroad. Kai had already sedated her an hour ago, all he had to do was finish this neat job and meet Kai back at their holding place.

"Hey..." Ji Eun said as she stretched her arm out. Sehun jumped and lay flat at the bottom of her bed, his heart beating rapidly against his chest. His left hand restrained his right hand tightly. He felt the urge to quickly kill her before she made any more noise. "Se...Sehun, I think love you..." Ji Eun muttered in her sleep. Sehun balanced himself on his elbows and dropped his knife. She what?
 

Ji Eun.

Loved.

Him.

Why was she telling him at a time that was so inappropriate? He was about to kill her and all she could say is that?

"Don't run away from me. Come back."
 

He peeked over the edge of her bed and found Ji Eun still breathing soundly. He couldn't do this. He couldn't kill the girl who possibly loved him. No, he had a deep seated feeling she loved him. He couldn't think straight. He jumped off her bedroom window and landed on the fire escape staircase.

Sehun ran for hours. He ran to the periphery of a mountain and sat there, his legs dangling dangerously over the edge. He set his mind on not killing her. Ji Eun deserved to live to find someone better than him. He might as well end his life. Who was he living for anyway? His parents were dead, all he had was a gang and school. Surely no one would miss him.

He lay back and rest his head on the coarse sand, closing his eyes. But then, Ji Eun's last words hit him hard.

Don't run away from me. Come back.

"So you finally decided to return?" Kris stared at Sehun. Sehun kneeled in front of his Master, tears streaking down his face.

"And you don't want to stay with us anymore." Kris tapped his fingers on the arm of his chair.

"First, you failed on your mission. You couldn't kill the girl Kai sedated for you because of love. Second, you didn't bother to go back to find him. So now, you will pay for all of this."

Sehun quivered.

I will be strong, he told himself as he gripped his fists.

"But your brother, unfortunately, will bear the brunt of this all." Kris said in a condescending tone as he flicked the cigar with his finger and snuffed the flame out with his shoe.

What do you mean?

"You see, Sehun, since you're so strong for a human, nothing physical will hurt you."

Did you turn Kai into a vampire? Sehun screamed in his mind and earned himself a huff from Kris.

"You know I would never turn the both of you. You are too precious. Precious with a capital 'P' my dear." Kris spat.

The both of them were the best desciples he could ever have, and because they could toy with their victims so well, they earned a spot in his heart. But due to their special placing, their punishments were to be way harsher than any of their regular brothers.

"But because of your own selfish desire, you abandoned your brother. I can't forgive you for that and the only way for you to experience that pain forever?" Kris trailed off, almost in a whisper.

Sehun glared into Kris's red orbs and expected him to turn him into a vampire. There. That instance. Even if he were to become a vamp, he had nothing to lose. Maybe there was a slim chance Ji Eun would still love him as a vamp. He closed his eyes and waited for Kris to him dry.
 

"I erased his memory."

Sehun flicked his eyes open. "You what?"

"Erased his memory."

"Nooo...you didn't." Sehun smashed his fists against the floor, bruises forming instantly.
 

"I know you wouldn't believe me, so see for yourself. Your pathetic brother, has been reduced to nothing but a meaningless body. If he's lucky, he'll live. If he's not, maybe he'll die." Kris sauntered toward the end of the room and opened the dusty door.

There lay Kai, shivering in a corner, completely wasted.

"You sick bastard!" Sehun swung a punch across Kris's cheek.

Kris wiped the stray line of blood at the end of his lips before giving him a kick in the gut, enough for Sehun to double over and clutch his stomach on the floor.
 

Sehun crawled on fours to the other room, but was stopped by the newborns guarding the entrance. "Once." Sehun sobbed between tears. "Just let me see him this once." Lay and Chanyeol looked toward Kris, before he gave them a crisp nod. "Go ahead Sehun, just prepare for regret to fill your heart."
 

Sehun stumbled across the cracked concrete and fell right beside Kai. His heart seemed to tear at the seams. "Kai..." Sehun shook him. "Kai...wake up..please!" "Please, wake up for your mum at least! Don't do this to me." Hot tears dripped all over Kai's face. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry I didn't go back. Just wake up..." Sehun's hands retracted from Kai's ice cold body. He removed his denim jacket and put it over him instead.
 

Sehun's outcry had little bearing on the confrontation. There was none of the panic he had envisioned but his mettle had completely vanished and a rising sense of grief had engulfed him.
 

"You'll wait for a change in Kai. If he wakes up, you return him to his mother and you can choose what you want to do with him. I can't use him anymore." Kris cocked his head and slid a finger down the bridge of his nose.
 

Sehun sat there, a hand over Kai's shoulder, sharing with him all the warmth he had.

For days, Sehun waited and when Kai woke up, he was nothing but a baby. "Kai! Remember me? I'm Sehun?" Kai rubbed his bleary eyes, "Who are you?" Sehun waited for an answer,  but all Kai could do was to blink at him. Sehun dragged him to the van and sent him home to his mother. Maybe, there would be a possinility he could recognise her.
 

Hours passed as he left fendless Kai with his mother while he waited outside. Sehun could hear Kai's mother wailing and crying uncontrollably,  more worried than shocked that her beloved son was totally unable to remember her.  Sehun thought that he should at least be courteous and greet her, but he couldn't, all he saw was Kai slumped against the chair, shaking his head at every question his mother asked him. Sehun backed away from the hole in the window and with some courage pushed open the door, not being very courteous at all. She stared at him and held on to the chair.
 

"Are you sure he's my son?" Kai's mother stared at Sehun, eyes wide. Kai crept back to Sehun, all whimpery and weak. Sehun couldn't bear to tell her anything, he ruined her son's life.
 

"Sorry Ahjumma, we'll get going first." Sehun grabbed Kai and draped his arm over his own shoulder as they got back into the van. The poor old lady wept at the porch and looked toward her only son, helpless. "Take care Ahjumma, I will take care of Kai." Sehun called after her, before he rammed on the engine and sped off.
 

The road to the orphanage was a long and treacherous one. Kai, who was barely breathing slept throughout the whole journey, parts of his injuries still sore. It was the best decision Sehun could make. Let the orphanage take in an older boy and set his life straight for him again. Hopefully Kris made his promise about not wanting to use or disturb him forever. At least the orphanage could give Kai some care he really needed. He left him at the porch and handed him over to the assistant there.
 

"This is my friend, Kai. His Identity Card is in his wallet, and his address is on it too. I would really appreciate it if you could take in him please. His mother can't take care of him and..." Sehun stopped to give himself some time.

"He lost his memory." He whispered to her.

"So...please..."

The lady at the porch barely gave him a small nod before Sehun turned around.

"Hey!" Kai called after him, using whatever was left of his strength. "Don't leave me here!"

Sehun looked back, his fingers wiping at the hot liquid searing his eyes.

"Hyung, maybe one day I'll come back for you."

"SEHUN!" Kai screamed.

Sehun returned started the ignition and sped back to Kris's holding place. Well, he had to return the van.

"I don't want to be part of this anymore, and I'm serious." Sehun glared at Kris.

"Sure."

"What?" Sehun asked in disbelief.

"Well, didn't you hear what I said?"

"With no strings attached?"

Kris scoffed. "Sehun, when did things ever come without strings attached?"

"What do you want from me?" Dreadful thoughts consumed Sehun's mind.
 

Don't ask me to kill Ji Eun. Don't. Don't make me kill Kai.
 

"So you see, just to remind you again Sehun, I'm no pushover, and there will be consequences for everything you do."

"Just kill me now. Don't hurt the people I love." Sehun's mind was in a turmoil.

"Don't try to sway me, Sehun. Your actions hurt my feelings too. I get to choose."

Sehun placed Kris's hands on his own throat. "Just do it." He pleaded, but Kris laid his hands off him and walked away.
 

"Don't make me, because unlike you, I don't know love." Kris shook his head and refused to meet his gaze.

"Take him away", he told Chanyeol and Lay. The newborns dragged Sehun across the room toward the exit.

But before Sehun was completely out of Kris's sight, he was sure he could hear his voice.[/CONTENTID2]

"The next one to go in the future? Maybe that little lover girl of yours."
