Anticipation
Kim Jong Kook and the AmericanThey were woken up early that morning by Jong Kook’s phone, the loud ringtone noisy in that otherwise quiet bedroom. Jong Kook rubbed his eyes and reached over to the end table where his phone was. “Yeobosaeyo,” he said. It was his camera crew. They were at his apartment, wondering why he was not there. He answered honestly, telling them where he was, and said that he’d leave now to meet them. After hanging up, he walked over to each of the cameras in her bedroom, turning them back on.
She asked if everything was okay.
“Yeah,” he said, leaning down to kiss her puffy cheeks, her lips.
“Will you be gone long?” she asked.
“Yeah, for a while. I have some appointments and another show today.”
She looked away. “Okay,” she said.
“Jagiya,” he said. “Don’t be sad. I have something special planned for us this evening.”
She smiled and kissed him again. “I can’t wait,” she whispered.
As he approached the front door, he heard the code being entered and the door unlock. Jae Won walked in and then abruptly stopped in the entryway, staring at Jong Kook.
Jong Kook bowed slightly and left.
He had a lot of things to do that day, but during every break in his schedule, he called her. Sometimes, he called just to hear her voice, just to hear her say his name.
