Every day for five years, a boy and girl take the same train.
 

He looks up; he analysis the street signs, the trees, the clouds, and the blue sky.
She looks down; she opens her book and reads the next chapter.
 

They cross paths every day, unaware that they are meant to be with each other.
 

He refuses to look down,

While she refuses to look up.

Oblivious.

Way steps into the train, and quickly scans the area for a vacant seat.

Kai steps into the train, and sighs, there are no empty seats.

Way looks around hoping that she will get to her destination with no delays.
 

“Excuse me, but you dropped your book.”

Way looks at the extended hand holding her book,

and briefly makes eye contact with the woman in front of her.

“Thank you.” Way softly mutters, as she breaks away the eye contact.

Kai looks out the window, and sees the outside pass by in a blur.

The train stops. New passengers board the train, while the others leave.

This is Kai’s chance for a seat, but he gives his seat to a girl and her baby.

Way reads a chapter in her book. Two more chapters and she’s done.

But she doesn’t want to end her adventure inside the lines of her favorite book.

Way reads slowly; admiring the letters, the words, the commas, and the paragraphs.

Kai sighs once more, and changes the song on his iPod.
Skip. Skip. Skip.
No song will please his fastidious ear.

It’s a long train ride.

Way looks down, and doesn’t bother to look up; she’s afraid to fly.

Kai looks up, and doesn't bother to look down; he doesn’t like the thought of falling.

It’s unknown when they’ve crossed paths for the first time,
but they have crossed paths every day, unaware that they are meant to be with each other.

The train stops, and a load of people leave the train.

Few people remain.

Kai finally got a seat.
 

Way briefly looks around, and notices how empty it became.
 

Way hates it.

Kai loves it.

She sighs.

He groans.

It's a long train ride.

The train was advancing her final stop.

Way gathers her belongings and stands up.

As Way headed to the door,

her eyes caught a glimpse of the loneliness in peoples' faces.

Everyone looked burned out and crestfallen.

Did she look the same?

Way decides to look straight ahead, instead.

Kai got up as well, right behind the girl. He wasn't sure why; this isn’t his stop.

Kai looked up at the sky, and noticed how dark it had become.

It's only six, Kai noted, as he put his cellphone back into his pockets.

Kai looked down and noticed a striped messenger bag before him.

It's her again, Kai thought.
 

Way leaned against the train's wall, and grabbed onto the railing so she wouldn't fall.

Kai grabs onto the same railing.

Both of their hands were almost touching, just a few inches apart,if only one of them would make the move.
Are they oblivious?

But they stay there stuck in time,feeling a string of attraction pulling them together.

Way briefly looks ups, and a sense of comfort comes, when she makes eye contact with the boy.

Kai looks down, and a notices a spark in the girl’s eyes.

They both look away; they had just defied what they feared.

The train comes to an abrupt stop, causing the boy and girl’s hands to touch.

A sense of electricity rushed through their bodies, as they made contact.

Way looked at him scared, for she had never felt this before from any man.

Her twin’s death had taught her to never look up, especially not into a men’s eyes.

Way’s older sister had looked up, and flew away in the endless skies of love.

Only to be shot down by an overdose.
