Special Chapter: The Visit
Appa's Daughter"A father’s love will never die. It’s something special. It’s one of a kind."
*Italics are Yuri's thoughts.
He heard her wish. He gave me a chance to see and feel her. I wanted to see and feel Yoona and Sica too, but Soojung has struck a chord in his heart –
so he says. He gave me five minutes and said that I must do it when everyone was sleeping. It maybe short, but that didn't matter if it meant being with
one of my family. It was better than nothing. A close friend of mine, Peter, opened the gate and wished me good luck.
A wave of nostalgia and familiarity hit me. The thought of meeting my daughter for the first time made me excited, and I can hardly wait. I immediately
descended to the house that created so many good memories. I hadn’t set my foot here for six years. I breathed in the all too familiar scent that causes
warmth to instantly fill my usually cold soul. Our pictures hanging on the wall; the hallways, where I used to chase Yoona around; the dining table,
where all of us ate happily together; and the living room, where I used to rest with Yoong and Sica after a long day of work. All of this just meant one
thing: I’m home. I’m finally home.
But I can’t reminisce as much as I wanted to, ‘cause time is ticking, and I have to quickly find Soojung’s room.
I stopped in front of her door and chuckled at the doorplate. The messy writing made me smile. It read, “Soojungie and Mimi’s room.” How adorable.
I walked inside and there she was, my youngest daughter. I walked towards her and sat on her pink bed. I smiled at the angel sleeping in front of me;
she does look a lot like me.
For the first time ever, I got to touch her by caressing her warm rosy cheeks. I saw her eyes fluttering. She must have felt it. She rubbed her eyes with
her tiny hands and sat up in bed. She squinted her eyes at me with her head cocked to the side.
“Ap… Appa? You look like my Appa. Are you my Appa?” I felt my heart bursting with happiness. My daughter knows me! Yes, I’m Appa! I’m your Appa!
I vigorously nodded my head and smiled. I saw her eyes widened and, in an instant, her face broke into a wide grin.
“Appa’s here to meet you, Soojung, God heard your wish. He was touched, because Soojung was the only one who didn’t wish for toys. You wished to
to meet Appa, right?” I smiled as she cutely nodded. My daughter. This is my daughter that I never met, and she’s right here in front of me. Everything was just
so surreal.
I opened wide my arms and gestured at her to give me a hug. My daughter wasted no time and literally jumped into my arms. I felt the world at its most
peaceful state as I heard her calm breathing and her heart beating into my chest. I poured all the love and affection a parent could have for her child as
I tightened my hold of her. I hoped that she could feel how much I love her so. I wished for the time to stop and just stay
