The Final Reunion (Part 1)
Appa's Daughter
The deafening silence and the beeping and whirring of a machine were the only sound occurring in a white room, where a lone woman could be
seen lying motionless in bed.
Another woman, in a white suit with long black hair and sun-kissed skin, entered the room – her head hung low in despair. With sadness etched on
her face, she slowly walked towards the woman lying in bed.
It’s all my fault. She thought bitterly.
She lifted her head only to see a sight that broke her dead heart. She lingered her eyes on the form of the woman in bed, her Jessica lying in front
of her motionless, but looking so peaceful and calm.
She noticed that Jessica’s breathing and heartbeats are both regular and normal, and there are no tubes attached to her except for an IV drip to her
hand – with that, she inwardly thanked the “He” up there for sparing Jessica’s life, and sparing her daughters from suffering another loss.
She reached out to hold Jessica’s hand. Tears starting to sting as the feeling of familiarity and warmth began to make its way to her cold heart.
She had not even touched this hand for years, and it amazed her that, even after all these years, their hands still fit perfectly together just like a
lock and key.
“Jessica… Your Seobang is so sorry. I’m so sorry for doing this to you. You don’t know how much I wanted to leave Heaven to take all your pain
and sadness away, but, baby, I’m…” Yuri choked up, her voice cracking with sorrow.
As she felt tears starting to fall, she turned her head away from the unbearable sight of her wife, feeling sorrow at the painful events that happened
to her family. She was so filled with grief that she didn’t even notice a finger twitching underneath her hand.
“Yu… Yuri? Is that you, Seobang?” A hoarse, but soft voice snapped Yuri out from her misery. That familiar soft voice, and the term of endearment
that only one person can call her rang repeatedly through her ears. To confirm her thoughts, she turned her head back to Jessica, who was now
wide-awake, staring at her with eyebrows knitted together.
The two stared at each other’s eyes as whirled of emotions rushed through their veins. Jessica slowly sat up as Yuri moved to sit with her and
finally… the longings for each other were finally over as the two lovers hugged passionately. Both hearts rejoiced as the warmth, the love, and the
memories they shared together resurfaced.
Yuri closed her eyes as she breathed in the familiar scent of strawberry coming from Jessica. Nostalgia filled her heart as she recalled the times,
when she was content with life just by the smell of that strawberry scent from her wife.
“Seobang, I’m so happy you’re here,” Jessica weakly said, her eyes glistening with tears and a grateful smile on her face. She has been dying to
see her Yuri - longing to feel, hug and kiss her again. She rested her head on her Seobang’s shoulder and tightened her hold to make sure that
Yuri was indeed in front of her.
“I am too, baby. "He" gave me a chance to make things right,” Yuri said, pulling her wife as closest to her as possible and burying her face in
Jessica’s hair.
“Am I… going to Heaven with you?” Jessica looked up at Yuri with a hopeful look on her face, and it pierced Yuri’s heart with the thought of her
wife eagerly wanting to die, while she would do anything in the world to be alive again.
“No, baby. You’re here to stay.”
“Why?” Jessica whispered as she hung her head low, hoping that Yuri wouldn’t hear her. The attempt was futile as Yuri stood up and lashed back at
her for being so selfish.
“Do you want to see our daughters or
