Present

Happy Birthday Darling

“Hoon?” Tracey called out as she entered her boyfriend’s apartment. The apartment was nearly silent, only the faint sound of classical music could be heard. Tracey followed the sound into the living room, where she found a romantic set table with big red roses and small vanilla scented candles. Tracey smiled as she looked at the table for two but found it weird that her boyfriend was nowhere in sight. She called out his name again and walked around the apartment. “Still no sign of him.” Tracey frowned and went back to the living room. As she entered Hoon stood in the middle of the room with a big heart shaped balloon and a goofy smile covered his face. “There is my special birthday girl.” Tracey giggled as Hoon made a little bow while starting to sing a birthday song. “You know I love it when you sing.” Hoon simply nodded and handed her the balloon. He placed his arms around her waist and pulled her closer, placing his lips lovingly against hers. “Happy birthday my dear.” Tracey placed her arms around Hoon neck and kissed his soft lips again. “Thank you.”

Hoon pulled out the chair for Tracey, like a true gentleman on his best behaviour. “I have a confession to make though.” Hoon said with a serious tone. Tracey tilted her head and looked at him confused. “I got Eli to make all the food. I tried to do it on my own but somehow it didn’t go so well.” Tracey couldn’t help but smile as she saw the pout on Hoon’s face. “Just the fact you even did this.” Tracey gestured to the well set table. “Makes me overly happy.” They gazed into each other’s eyes lovingly. “You know I would do anything to make you just a tiny bit happy.” Tracey nodded. “And you are very good at doing so.” Hoon flashed a proud smile and took a little bell and rang it. Suddenly Kiseop appeared in the doorway with a bottle of wine. Tracey could help but laugh as she saw Kiseop decked out like a waiter in restaurant. “Hello. My name is Kiseop and I will be your waiter this special evening.” Kiseop made a small bow and started to pour the wine. “Dinner will be with you shortly.”

Tracey looked at Hoon with a gentle smile. “How did you manage to make him do, that?” Hoon chuckled. “He owes me.” Tracey just nodded and looked at the table again. “How does this fit into your schedule?” Hoon made a small smile. “It doesn’t. I have to work 24 hours the next two days because of this.” Tracey frowned. “And before you say anything.” Hoon started. “I did it because I wanted to. There is no way I would ever leave my amazing girlfriend alone on her birthday. Not even when I have to prepare for a tour.” Tracey shook her head at her boyfriend. “You are hopeless.” Hoon flashed a breathtaking smile. “And you my dear are perfect.” Both Tracey and Hoon reached out for each other’s hands across the table. They tangled their fingers together and stared at each other. “I love you.” Tracey almost whispered. “I love you more.” Hoon whispered back.

“Oh isn’t this just cute.” Eli exclaimed as he leaned against the doorframe. “Maybe I should get Hoon to arrange my next date.” Hoon frowned. “You are supposed to stay in the kitchen.” Eli smirked. “What? I can’t even wish my noona a happy birthday?” Eli walked over and placed his hands on Tracey’s shoulders. “Happy birthday Tracey.” He gave her a little hug and looked over at Hoon. “Don’t worry, I’ll leave now.” Hoon sighed as Eli walked out. “Oh come on. It’s just Eli. You know how he is.” Tracey said with a caring voice as she gently placed her hand on top of Hoon’s. “He can’t help it.” Hoon chuckled. “Yeah you’re right.”

Dinner went by in a both cosy and romantic atmosphere. This was the most time they had spent together in quite some time and it would also be a while before they could have a night like this again. Kiseop entered the room with a big package, singing happy birthday while Eli followed with a cake. “Aww guys! You shouldn’t have.” Tracey gave a small but meaningful smile and looked up at them. “You are a part of the U-Kiss family, so of course we should.” Eli said and placed the cake in front of her. “AJ decorated it and I baked it.” Tracey eyes went wide. “AJ did this?” Eli nodded. “Who knew he would be this skilled with frosting?” Tracey felt all warm on the inside as she looked at the cake. “They are always so good to me.” Kiseop placed a hand on Tracey’s shoulder. “Make a wish.” Tracey smiled and blew out all the candles at once.” The guys cheered and Kiseop handed her the present. “It’s from all of us, except Hoon. He has his own.” Tracey nodded and started to unwrap the present. Her eyes went wide at she saw a certain coat she had been wanting, for about a month now. It was even in the red colour she had been dying to wear. “How…. How did you guys know I wanted this?” Kiseop and Eli smiled. “Kevin.” Tracey chuckled. “Of course.” Eli then frowned. “We made a card too but I forgot it.” Tracey shook her head. “This is more than enough. Thank you guys.” Tracey got up and hugged both of them. “Well we will be taking our leave now. Enjoy the rest of this special night.” Eli said and walked off, followed by Kiseop. Tracey tilted her head. “Why did he say special like that?”

“Come, I have something I want to show you.” Hoon held out his hand for Tracey to take. Tracey put her hand in his and followed him to the little balcony just outside Hoon’s bedroom. “Woah.. What a lovely sight.” Tracey said with a smile as she breathed in the evening air. Hoon nodded and turned to her. “I want to give you your present now... Tracey…” He started. Tracey turned to face him and lovingly looked into his eyes. “Why does he look so nervous?” Hoon took a deep breath before continuing. “We’ve known each other for four years now. You haven’t left my side for one moment.” Tracey couldn’t help but smile as Hoon took her right hand into his. “You are my best friend. I can always count on you to brighten up my day.” Hoon moved closer as he got more confident. “The fact that you have a son does not make me love you less, even though I know you think it does.” Hoon caressed Tracey’s cheek as he deeply stared into her eyes. “I love you Tracey Thomas! I love all of you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you.” Tracey gasped as Hoon got down on one knee and took out a little black box.  “Will you do me the honour of marrying me?” Hoon’s cheeks were all pink as he nervously looked up at Tracey, who was starting to tear up. “I..” Tracey got down on her knees as well, looking deeply into Hoon’s beautiful eyes. “Yes.. A thousand times yes.” Tracey embraced Hoon in a tight hug as tears of joy started to stream down her face. Hoon placed his arms around Tracey’s waist and hugged her as well. “She said yes.. SHE SAID YES!” Hoon wanted to cry too but quickly got his act together. “I love you Tracey.” Tracey pulled slightly away and looked into Hoon’s happy eyes. “I love you too.” Hoon captured her lips in a loving and deep kiss. “Happy birthday darling.”
