Six months.

It’s been six months since Woohyun broke up with Sunggyu.

Six months of Sunggyu crying and hoping that Woohyun will come back one day, saying that he was sorry and stupid for breaking Sunggyu’s heart and their four years of relationship. He kept waiting for a message: a simple ‘I miss you’ would be enough for Sunggyu to keep going with his life. To know that Woohyun didn’t hated him anymore just as he yelled at his face that day.

He said he was tired of their relationship, he was tired of the monotony and that he was tired of Sunggyu. That he hated that Sunggyu was so weak that he needed to be with Woohyun all the time.

Four months later Sunggyu found out that Woohyun was dating a beautiful girl for three months already and he cried again, he locked himself in his apartment for two weeks and cried himself to sleep every night. He just ate because Dongwoo move out with him to keep an eye on his depressed friend.

Two months later he wasn’t at all recovered for that painful heartbreak but he at least can walk around without crying seeing the couples on the park or the mall or in his work.

Sunggyu wanted to move out far away from there because Woohyun still lived an hour away and wherever he went he was hit with a wave of memories from when they were still together. But he didn’t have the money to do so.

So here he was; waiting in line for that sappy movie that Sungjong kept talking about and he was curious to see.

When he got to the cashier he asked for one entrance and, while he was waiting for the girl to gave him his ticket, Sunggyu saw a flayer to his side and took out one. The girl then gave him his ticket; he thanked her and walked towards the candy shop.

He almost reached the counter when he felt someone bumping hard on his shoulder, making him drop the flyer and almost loses his balance. The guy turned around and bowed at him.

“Sorry, I was in a hurry,” the guy had a weird voice but he crouched down to pick Sunggyu’s flyer and gave it to him. Sunggyu just nodded at him and turned around when the guy ran away.

Sunggyu was walking home with his earphones on and a book on his hand. He hated reading but he needed to finish that book for the next week and he just started it, that’s why he spent all of his free time reading.

He didn’t saw the guy walking towards him, which was, too, reading a book. They ended up bumping shoulders and both of their books went flying.

The guy quickly turned around and apologize, crouching down to lift Sunggyu’s book just at the same time he did.

“Sorry, I wasn’t paying attention-“ the guy trailed off when his hand touched Sunggyu’s and he looked up. Sunggyu blinked at the handsome guy in front of him and got up quickly, hugging his book to his chest.

The guy got up too and scratched the back of his neck.

“Are you okay?” He asked nervous.

“Yes, I wasn’t paying attention too,” Sunggyu smiled a bit and was about to walk away when the guy called him.

“Excuse me,” Sunggyu turned around with his eyebrows raised. The guy cleared his throat and extended his hand, “I’m Woohyun, Nam Woohyun.” Sunggyu chuckled and took his hand.

“I’m Kim Sunggyu, nice to meet you.”

Sunggyu shook his head to get away from that memory and bought popcorn and a coke and walked towards the movie’s room.

He sat almost at the very back and when the movie started; he regretted his decision. From his seat he could see all the couples being all lovey dovey and he felt uncomfortable. Everything they are doing, he have done it with Woohyun already.

Sunggyu contemplated of walking out of there but the ticket and the threats were expensive and he was not going to let them waste just like that. So he just sat there, leaned back on the seat and stuffed his mouth with popcorn.

Half way on the movie he felt his eyes itching and he kept scratching them with the back of his hand. He hated that he has dry eyes (and still was shocked to see how much his dry eyes could cry over the last months).

He took out his eye drops and put two drops on each eye. He closed them for a few seconds and then he was ready to finish the movie.

Sunggyu ended up crying, that was why he waited for the room to be empty so he could walked out as if nothing happened. He stood up when he saw the last person walk away and he felt his pockets for his phone, keys, wallet and eye drops.

Sunggyu’s eyes widened when he didn’t felt them and looked down to search for them. He heard someone walking near him but didn’t bother to look up; he was busy searching for the eye drops that Woohyun specially bought for him when they started dating and he found out about Sunggyu’s eyes. Well, it wasn’t the same one from that time but the brand was the same and, whenever he put them on, he liked to remember when Woohyun cared for him.

He sighed when he didn’t found them and straightened his back at the same time the other person did. Sunggyu glanced at the man on the row below and saw him with his eye drops on his hand.

“Uh… Excuse me,” Sunggyu said and the man looked up. He had a purple Mohawk, thick eyebrows and sharp jawline. “Those eye drops are mine.”

The guy just blinked at him, looking at his hand and then at him, raising an eyebrow. Sunggyu tapped impatiently his foot.

“I’ll take them.”

He extended his hand, took his eye drops and walked away, leaving the guy to blink dumbfounded at him.

The wind was blowing really hard and Sunggyu was sitting on a bench next to Woohyun. Sunggyu rubbed his eyes with the back of his hand and blinked rapidly.

“Did something get in your eyes?” Woohyun asked worried and leaned to take a look.

“No, is just…” he blinked again and glanced at Woohyun. “I have dry eyes and the wind was so strong that- Why are you laughing?!”

Woohyun hit his knee and threw his head to the back. Sunggyu glared at him and punched him in the arm.

“Yah! I’m being serious!”

“Gyu, no one can have dry eyes,” Woohyun kept laughing.

“I have! Stop laughing, idiot!” Sunggyu tried to glare at him but he rubbed his eyes again; he couldn’t keep his eyes open for so long.

Woohyun noticed that and stopped laughing. He softened when he saw Sunggyu having trouble with his eyes; the skin around his eyes were already red from all the rubbing. So he stood up and started to run.

“Don’t move!” Sunggyu heard him yell at the distance and he opened his eyes.

“Woohyun! Where are you going?!” He yelled but Woohyun was already far away.

Sunggyu sat there for five minutes with his eyes closed, rubbing his eyes once in a while. He heard footsteps approaching him and opened his eyes, turning to his side to see Woohyun standing there, panting hard.

“Here, put this on,” Sunggyu blinked at the eye drops on his boyfriend’s hand and looked up at Woohyun. “They said this are the best.”

Woohyun’s smile was so gentle that Sunggyu couldn’t help but blush and turned around, snatching the eye drops from his hand and ignoring Woohyun’s laugh.

Sunggyu arrived at his home; he was searching for his keys when his hand brushed something at the bottom of his pocket. He blinked and took it out. His eyes widened when he saw his eye drops, he quickly searched on his other pocket and took out the guy’s one. Sunggyu made a face but he wasn’t going to run back to the cinema and see if the guy was still there.

A week later Sunggyu was waiting for Myungsoo at a café when he received a message from him. He frowned at his phone.

“Stupid, Myungsoo, then I’d have to go there alone,” he shook his head and looked up when he saw a guy sitting on the table next to his. His eyes widened when he recognized him from the guy from the cinema. They hairstyle and eyebrows were the same.

They were sitting almost across from each other. Sunggyu bit his lip to prevent his smile to get wider and he looked down at the book on his hands. It was the same one of when he first met him.

Woohyun was too focused on his book to notice that Sunggyu was sitting in front of him.

Sunggyu kept smiling like an idiot, trying to finish the book that needed to be done for the next day.

Sunggyu looked at his bag and took out the eye drops. He played with them for a bit and then glanced at the boy. He took a deep breath and stood up, walking towards him.

The guy looked up from his phone and his eyes widened a bit in recognition. Sunggyu extended his hand.

“This is yours,” Sunggyu said softly. “I found mine in my pocket. Sorry.”

The guy took the eye drops and smiled up at him.

“Thanks, I had to buy a new one, though.”

Sunggyu scratched the back of his neck and apologized again. He was about to turn around when he saw a ticket on the guy’s table. He took it and the guy glanced at him with a grin.

“Are you going to take that too?” Sunggyu blushed a bit and shook his head.

“Are you going?” He motioned to the ticket. The guy nodded and lifted an eyebrow.

“Are you?”

“Yes, a friend of mine is going to dance there and he forced me to go so…” Sunggyu trailed when he heard the guy’s laugh.

“My name’s Howon, but you can call me Hoya,” he extended his hand and Sunggyu took it.

“I’m Kim Sunggyu,” he smiled. Hoya finished the last of his coffee and stood up.

“Should we get going?”

“Uh?” Sunggyu blinked confused at him; first, because of the question, and second, because the guy was a bit taller and broader that him.

“To the dance competition,” Hoya blinked back with a smile. Sunggyu felt something funny in his tummy and nodded.

Apparently, Dongwoo was friends with Hoya and was surprised to see Sunggyu coming to the competition with him. So that’s why Hoya kept hanging around them often and Sunggyu found himself falling for Hoya’s charms.

He couldn’t help but found similarities between Hoya and Woohyun; like the way Hoya cared about Sunggyu’s eyes and reminded him to use his medicine or the way Hoya would laugh at something he said and then, instead of apologize, he would ruffled his hair and smiled, bumping shoulders with him in a playful manner. Or how Hoya took Sunggyu’s hand when they were in crowded places. Little details like that.

Hoya asked Sunggyu out three months after meeting him and Sunggyu accepted because he felt comfortable with him, because he was funny, smart, care for him, and both of them have a lot of things alike. Not because he reminded him of Woohyun, of course not.

They went to the cinema, to the park, the amusement park (although Sunggyu was never good at riding) or just to eat simple things like noodles or kimbap.

Sunggyu was happy because he felt like some needed him, that someone wanted to be with him and spent time by his side; it felt nice. The way Hoya smiled at him, took care of him and just gaze at him; made his insides melt and his heart to beat happily faster.

A year passed by that and Hoya gave Sunggyu a couple ring in the middle of the park where their first date was, it wasn’t fancy or expensive; it was just a simple silver band, but it was more than enough for Sunggyu.

But soon, things started to change and it was all because of him.

Sunggyu didn’t really realize his mistakes but soon, Hoya started to wonder things and asked the only person that could help him.

“Who is Woohyun?”

Dongwoo looked up from his food and blinked confused at Hoya.

“What?” He asked with his mouth full.

“Who is Woohyun and why is Sunggyu always calling his name?” Hoya’s tone is serious and cold. Dongwoo swallowed and continued to eat, eyes never leaving his plate.

“Is an old friend of his.”

“Just a friend?” Dongwoo sighed and dropped his hands, pushing away his plate and whipping his mouth with a napkin. Hoya sat in front of him. “Tell me, Dongwoo.”

“Why do you want to know?”

“Why do you keep avoiding my eyes?” Dongwoo flinched slightly and looked up. Hoya’s eyes were sad and he couldn’t help but feel bad. He sighed and rubbed his face before dropping his hands on the table.

“Woohyun is Sunggyu’s ex. They dated for almost four years.”

“I knew it.” Hoya sighed and rested his back on the chair.

“I’m going to be honest with you,” Hoya looked up at him. “I was happy when you told me that you wanted to date Sunggyu. Woohyun hurted him; he said bad and hurtful things to him and it took him a while to get over it… at least that was what I thought.” Hoya frowned.

“What do you mean?” Dongwoo’s eyes filled with sadness and he lowered his gaze.

“I thought that maybe you will help him to forget about Woohyun and move on and live his life, but I was wrong. Whenever you told me about your dates and what you two did together… I couldn’t help but feel uneasy.”

That made sense. Every time Hoya would tell excited about his dates with Sunggyu to Dongwoo, he always seemed to try to avoid the topic. He never asked why, he just thought that maybe Dongwoo was being envy of his relationship with Sunggyu. How wrong was he.

“Why?” Hoya whispered.

“Because everything you did together: the café, the libraries, the parks, the restaurants, the old movies you saw… Sunggyu did all of that with Woohyun.” Hoya’s heart dropped to his feet. Dongwoo looked at him with pitiful eyes. “I’m sorry, Hoya.”

“So… he was using me all this time.” Hoya whispered and Dongwoo reached for his hand, giving him a soft squeeze. Then Hoya laughed but it sounded empty. “You know that we made love, right?”

“Hoya…”

“And when he was about to fall asleep he called me ‘Woohyun’,” he kept laughing but tears were falling from his eyes. Dongwoo’s eyes started to get teary seeing his friend so broken in front of him. “I thought that he was just blabbering things… but he was just thinking about him even at that moment, isn’t it?”

Dongwoo got up and walked next to his friend, hugging him and letting him cry on his shoulder. His own tears running down his cheeks.

“Shh, I’m here.” He whispered.

“How could he do this to me, Dongwoo?” Hoya cried his heart out on his best friend’s shoulder.

A week and Sunggyu was going crazy. He hadn’t received any notice from Hoya for the past week and he was starting to think that maybe he ran away and left him like a lost puppy. He panicked. Sunggyu didn’t want to be left alone again, not when things were getting better between them.

He tried asking Dongwoo but the guy said that Hoya stopped going to the dance studio and he didn’t knew anything about him.

Sunggyu was starting to get depressed again but he got a message one Wednesday night. He smiled when he saw Hoya’s name on the display and he unlocked his phone.

His face brightened and he ran to take a shower and change to a pair of red pants with a black shirt and black jacket. He even styled his hair up, showing his forehead just the way Hoya likes.

Sunggyu took a cab and in minutes he arrived at the club Hoya told him. He straightened his jacket and walked to the entrance. There weren’t that much people so he was let in almost immediately.

Sunggyu walked to the bar and sat down, ordering some water which the bartender gave him a weird look but served him anyways. He took a sip and turned around, head moving to the beat and eyes scanning the dance floor. It was almost empty but the people dancing seemed to be having fun so he kept himself entertained with them for a few minutes.

Hoya entered the club, eyes searching for his boyfriend and, when he finally found him, he took a deep breath and walked to him.

Sunggyu the seat to take the last of his water when he saw Hoya approaching him. He felt a wave of happiness and relief filled his body and he wrapped his arms around Hoya’s shoulders.

“Hoya! I missed you so much! Where have you been?” He had to yell so Hoya could hear him. Hoya didn’t even lifted his hands, he just stood there. Sunggyu pulled apart with a frown on his face but kissed Hoya’s lips anyways. He missed him so much, he felt like he was going to die without him. Hoya pulled apart after a few seconds.

“Let’s take a seat.”

Sunggyu’s frown deepened as his eyes followed Hoya to the seat next to him. He sat too and turned to him.

“Is everything okay?” Hoya kept his gaze down, just looking up at the bartender when he asked if he wanted a drink and shook his head. “Hoya?”

“Why did you do it?” He said softly but Sunggyu still hear him through the loud music.

“Did what?” Sunggyu tilted his head and reached for Hoya’s hand but Hoya moved his hand and turned to glare at him. “What’s wrong, babe-“

“Stop acting like you care about me.”

Sunggyu froze and he stared wide eyed at him. Thankfully the music was so loud that nobody noticed Hoya’s outburst.

“I’m not acting-“

“Stop acting, goddammit!” Sunggyu flinched and looked at him scared. Hoya took a deep breath to calm down a bit. “I asked you to come because I wanted to end this right now.” Sunggyu forgot to breath for a moment and he shook his head.

“Why? Why did I do wrong-“

“Everything, Sunggyu.” Hoya said with eyes fixed on him. “You used me since the beginning to forget about Woohyun. But it was worse because you kept thinking that I was Woohyun.”

Sunggyu’s face fell when he saw the look Hoya was giving him. Sadness, hurt, disappointment, anger. He shook his head and tried to reach for his hand again.

“Hoya, I don’t know what you are-“

“You kept recreating all the dates you had with Woohyun, all the moments, all the details. You were so egoist that you kept thinking of your own feels not even bothering to think that you may be hurting me.” Hoya closed his eyes. “Did you even think about me at all? There was even a time when you saw me as Hoya and not as Woohyun?”

Sunggyu felt tears building in his eyes and he shook his head. He felt so damn bad because everything Hoya said was true. And did he even think or care about Hoya? He couldn’t even answer that.

Hoya opened his eyes and Sunggyu felt his tears falling when he saw Hoya’s eyes filled with tears too.

“You even thought about him when we made love. It was me who was with you all this time not Woohyun,” he whispered and Sunggyu let out a sob, covering his mouth to prevent another one to be heard, “We can’t be together till you forget about him… and even then, I don’t know if I’ll be able to be with you. Goodbye, Sunggyu.”

Hoya took out his ring and left in on the bar table before walking out of the bar letting a broken Sunggyu to drown on his own misery. Sunggyu took the ring and clutched his hand to his chest, tears still falling down his cheeks.

“I’m sorry, Hoya, I’m so sorry.” He whispered as a heartbreaking sob let out his mouth.
