"Do you have to leave?" Asked Hana, voice trembling.

Kai kissed her forehead, "I wish I didn't have to. But, I can do nothing about it."

"Well, I guess this is farewell, remember to contact me while you're in America ." said the choked Hana, tears welling up in her glassy eyes.

"I will dear, don't cry okay !" Kai assured her.

They stood up from the park bench, the place where they first met, and parted their ways.

 

Hana and Kai walked in the opposite direction, both with tears falling down their cheeks.

 

~Few hours later~

Hana sat at the dining table where she and Kai used to have their meals, so heartily and lovingly.

She thought about the times they had a mini food fight, feeding each other oh so sweetly.

A phone call had broke her train of thoughts.

"Yeoboseyo, is this Miss Kim Hana?" the person on the other line spoke.

"Neh," Hana mumbled.

"Please come down to Incheon Hospital right away," the nurse on the line spoke and hung up.

 

A million thoughts ran through her mind.

What happened.

Did mum faint again?

Did Dad went to get his meds? 

 

Every thought went into her mind, except for one.

 

~At the hospital~

Hana walked slowly to the counter.

"Hi, I'm called down to this hospital for some reason," Hana said.

"Your name, Miss?" the lady at the desk asked.

"Hana, Kim Hana." 

The lady typed something into the computer.

"Neh, Miss Kim please follow me," The lady spoke with a soft voice.

 

They walked down the endless hallway,

her heart beating faster as they passed each room.

The lady spoke to her about something,

but she can hear nothing.

 

After what seemed like forever, they stopped in front of a room.

With trembling hands, she opened the door.

She didn't say anything.

Her eyes starting water.

 

After a few seconds, she mumbles...

"Kai..."

 

Kai looked back at her, smiling weakly.

"Hana..."

 

She shook the lady ,

"WHAT HAPPENED?!" She almost shouted, tears falling.

 

"Hana... Hana..." Kai called her weakly.

Hana stopped and turn to him.

"Kai..."

She knelt beside his bed.

"What happened, dear?"

"His heart is failing." the doctor who just walked in, replied.

 

"What?" Hana couldn't believe what she has just heard.

His heart couldn't be failing...

No...

They were so happy just last week at the movies.

 

"Kai, why didn't you tell me?" Hana asked, tears continuously falling.

"I don't want you to get hurt." Kai replied meekly.

"Pabo..." Hana weeped weakly into his arms.

 

"Remember you said we would have many kids?" Hana said, sniffing.

Kai nodded.

 

"The house we wanted on the hill..."

"The marriage we wanted..." 

 

At this time, Hana thought of an idea.

 

She called in a priest from the church nearby.

She went to the married couple walking outside the room , borrowing their rings.

She gathered nurses and doctors in the room .

 

She held Kai's hand,

 

"I, want you forever, forever and always, through the good, and the bad and the ugly,

we'll grow old together, and always remember , whether happy or sad or whatever, we'll still love

each other, forever and always. "

 

She slipped the ring into his left ring finger.

 

Kai slipped another ring into her finger.

 

The nurses started tearing up, and even some of the doctors were.

 

The beeps on the machine were going down.

 

Kai with his last dying breath smiled and muttered,

 

"I love you forever, forever and always. Please just remember, even if I'm not there, I'll love you,

forever and always..."
