The Twists and Turns of Reality
Description
A story in which Chanyeol is just a figment of Baekhyun's imagination, but he's the most important person in his life anyways.
""I know you're not real, I'm not a child any more."
"I'm real to you, isn't that what's important?"
"Please leave."
"I'm afraid I'll have to decline. I'm not going anywhere. I know you have friends now, but admit it, I'm a thousand times more awesome!""
Age 6
"Who are you?"
"Chanyeol, and I'm going to be your bestest friend!"
Age 10
"Channie, are you there?"
There's a silence before the smiling boy is in Baekhyun's sight again.
"What is it, Baekkie?"
"We're moving and I'm scared. Are you...are you coming with me?"
Age 11
"Baekhyun!"
The boy turns away, arms crossed. Running closer, Chanyeol almost gasps. His eyes are red and puffy, and the tear stains are still visible.
"Are you okay? Why are you crying? Who did this to you?"
"You!" Comes the harsh reply, "You did this to me! Y-you're not even real. My friends said so! I'm all grown up now, so just leave me alone! I don't need you!"
The smile on Chanyeol's lips never falter, not even once.
"Even if you don't need me, I'll always be here, don't you worry!"
Age 13
Baekhyun flashes a bright smile at his friends, playfully pushing and rolling around on the grassy hill, melodious laugher escaping his lips as a lone figure stands at a distance, watching silently.
"I knew you wouldn't need me so much, Baekhyunnie, but I didn't realize it would hurt so much."
Age 18
Baekhyun's alone, crying. College was definitely a new experience, and things were not kicking off well.
Never had he thought he'd feel this alone ever again.
A faint voice rings in his head.
"You'll be okay, I promise, Baekkie."
And Baekhyun scrambles towards the closet, digging through boxes before he finally finds it.
His old diary.
And the name tumbles of his lips.
"Chanyeol..."
