nd Part
Special
“How did I reach you?” she slowly mouthed, eyes fixing the ceiling.
“Hm?”
“How did I reach you, you who were at the top of the entertainment industry? You who are daily surrounded by stunning
famous faces and delicate legs? Am I that lucky, merely a make-up staff, to be the first thing you open your eyes to the day
of your birthday?”
“Wow that was flattering ..”
“Which part of it?” she asked, turning to face him.
“Saying we are at the top of the entertainment industry. I personally still think we are less than halfway there, but that was
encouraging, thanks” his face split in a half with a huge grin.
“You’re impossible …” she said pushing his arm playfully.
As he wrapped both his arms stubbornly around her waist, fingers brushing against her back over her pajamas, she gave up
to the soothing sensation of protection and invading warmness, comfortably laying against his tanned torso. Nothing could
replace those very rare moments where they were cuddling up against each other, toes cozily overlapping under the sheets,
hands too deprived to halt their caresses. She felt as if absorbing the heat emanating from each part of his body while she
ran shy but filthy fingers on it. Feeling something hard against her inner thigh, her eyes shot open and her frail milky-white
body pushed his away from her.
“No, Jjong. Not now.” she said in a low voice, watching him gasp dramatically.
“What? Why ~? Am I not the birthday boy? Oh come on!”
“I said no.”
She reluctantly tore herself from his arms and rose from the tempting warm bed and sheets. Sitting up in the bed and ruffling his hair in frustration, Jonghyun gave a furtive glance to the casement window where a bright blue sky was visible through the long transparent curtains.
Usually on their radio shows, he often claimed his ideal type to be an overly feminine, cheerful and bubbly woman, who
enjoys putting on make-up and bright dresses with fine high heels. But there he was, head over heels for a woman who put
way more make-up on other people than herself, who was painfully coy and never gave him what he wanted easily.
Scratch that: she hardly ever did give him something. That part, he thought, made her the clichéd hard to get woman who
makes men lustful then reject their amorous advances, still in an ever so innocent and spontaneous way. That was what
made him come out of nowhere while waiting in their dressing room during a show and get in Girls’ Generation’s waiting
room to ask her out on impulse, few days after she had being hired.
“Is that so? You leave me with no choice but to you”
Icy cold chocolate irises turned and gazed directly into his soul, while she slowly mouthed “I dare you” ,making the half
brunette gulp in surprise.
“All right, all right. Don’t blame me though, if anything goes wrong. I have male instincts, you know”
Being the well desired, popular and haughty idol he was, rejection to his offers never reached his ears. Well, until the day he
met her. He slowly learned to gulp down his pride, as he knew he wasn’t getting anywhere with her.
A warm smile slowly replaced her deadly glare when she saw him slid back into the sheets, covering his head with the
crimson bedclothes as he shifted to the other side.
On her way to open the casement window, she grabbed her silken light pink dressing gown, which she put on her shoulders
to protect her flesh from the invading morning freshness .
That was her nature. She wasn’t the type to clearly demonstrate feelings of any kind even if she craved for it. People always
blamed it on her shy character, and so she never put any genuine effort into changing what they thought. She couldn’t
apologize when an apology was needed, couldn’t comfort her friends when they needed it, couldn’t talk back to her boss
even when wrongly accused and her most recent obstacle was her very first yet demanding boyfriend. If only she could be
as transparent as the curtains she was pulling back now, so that he could figure out how much she loved him and was ready
to prove it, even if secretly dating an idol and potential client wasn’t even in her “to do” list. She was someone quite normal,
who predicted a very normal life. However, strangely enough, she didn’t even hesitate to accept this perilous relationship.
Was it his eyes? His smile? His courtesy? His overflowing yet funny self-confidence? Three years have gone by and she
still didn’t figure out an answer. He took her out of her deadly routine, and she was deeply grateful for it. Well, even if she
never really put it in words..
That’s why she felt the urge to do something very special on the first birthday of him they got to spend together.
The loud ringtone of his phone tore her out of her reverie. “Kibum” showed up on the screen and she nodded to him to
answer. He rose a bit to pick it from the nightstand.
“Hey, what’s up ? …. Joining you at Shidae café? “ he arched his eyebrow while looking at her.
She hurriedly whispered to him : “Don’t worry about me, go and hang out with them”
“Wait a sec” he whispered back to her “What ? No-“
“I have to run some errands anyway so..”
“I’ll do it for you jus- “
“For God sake listen to me for once! Go and have fun with your friends, I won’t die from it”
He took another puzzled look at her before answering in the phone “Okay, I’ll be there in 15 min”
They stood there for a moment staring at each other when he quietly said “I won’t even ask, you do sometimes things
beyond my understanding”
She got closer and landed a butterfly kiss on the top of his nose “I’ll take it as a compliment. Just go”
He looked so cute trying to comb his wild messy bed hair with his fingers as he walked to the bathroom, still topless. She
sat on the edge of the bed, her locks bouncing up and down, shamelessly enjoying the wonderful view his muscled back
gave her.
Mumbling a quick still confused “See you” , Jonghyun grabbed his brown leather jacket and keys and simply left. She went
bare-feet to the closed door to hear his footsteps leaving. With a wide grin spreading over her face, she hurriedly texted the
number once again to settle down things.
Only when the peach-colored sky gazed back at him from the café’s window had he remembered how late he was . The smooth conversation with his friends around a warm coffee about matters of music industry almost made him forget it was
his birthday. Since the last days had pretty busy schedules, these kind of moments were rare and he particularly cherished
the presence of people who belonged to the same domain. And then he remembered that someone very special was
waiting for him back home. With a few bows and rushed excuses, he fairly flew outside the café, leaving confused looks on
his friends' faces, except for his blonde haired bestfriend who was wearing a warm knowing smile...
Shidae café was pretty close from where he lived, so he made it home in no time. The dark was settling down slowly and a
breeze made him shiver and clutch his leather jacket to him as he took out his keys to open the door. Jonghyun cocked
his eyebrow in confusion, welcomed with nothing but pitch darkness.
" What ... She can't have left already.. though it's my birthday.." he slightly pouted.
A sweet tempting scent caressing his nostrils made him rush his footsteps inside in curiosity. Small red spots on the
ground caught his attention as a smirk pulled his mouth to the side.
" What is this .. Is it some kind of cheesy romance movie scene ..” he said to himself.
In fact, no matter how many times he would deny it, he liked it when she did those kind of small cheesy yet meaningful
things. And no matter how he thinks of it, the red fresh petals sprawled on the floor tracing the way to the bedroom he
already knew by heart made his heartbeat erratic and his breath heavy in anticipation as he tiptoed to the room. A faint light
emanated from it which Jonghyun guessed would be apple scented candles –his favorite-, explaining the sweet scent. She
really did follow the little details from the cheesy movies she was recently immersing herself into to the letter.
His footsteps stopped as much as his heartbeat did on the threshold of the room, his jaw dropping over dramatically at the
sight and the sarcastic words he was willing to comment about the red petals instantly died in his throat. If he could make a
summary of it all, he would say a lot of red, a lot of candles everywhere, and a lot, hell a lot of snowy smooth skin showing.
For what seemed like hours, Jonghyun kept standing blankly, genuinely not knowing where to look at.
There she was, standing next to the red petals covered crimson bed, long silky black locks falling perfectly over temptingly
milky-white shoulders, an extremely short sleeveless dark purple velvety dress showed the top of her bright red bra out of a
plunging neckline, gracing her glorious body and perfectly tracing her curves as two full thighs emerged from it, her bare
dainty feet resting one on the other as a gesture of shyness .
Nervously fidgeting with her manicured pale fingers, she didn’t even dare to glance at him, a blush creeping on her pale
face; never had she showed so much skin to him. She reluctantly raised her head to look at the guy who forgot how to
breathe ages ago, revealing a pair of gorgeous almost pleading doe eyes, causing him to gulp down in astonishment once
again.
“ W-Welcome back … Jjong .. um .. birthday boy”, she breathed faintly.
And right then, he knew it was the reality he wanted.
