Who Did She Fall In Love With?

Description

Eunmi is an old woman who reflects on her life she spent with her friends throughout high school and young adult life after her grandchildren ask her how did she fall in love.

This story is dating back to the late 1940's early 1950's :) (past) (present 2013)

Foreword

She was fragile now. Pale and fading and there wasn't much time left ahead of her like she once had when she was younger. She passed over through her kitchen table where a vase of fresh flowers rested on top brightening the lightly decorated room. She fed the chirping birds inside the cage before leaving the kitchen to enter the living room.

The old lady walked over to the fireplace and grabbed the dog tag that rested on the mantle. Her fingers traced over the indented name before her lips lay a gentle kiss on it. "Biyone.." She whispered softly.

She left it back down there and sat down on the wooden rocking chair. She had on a long floral dress and a white knitted sweater to keep her warm even though it was early spring. Her ankle charm bracelet chimed as she moved. Fuzzy light pink slippers adorned her feet that were weary from so many steps she took throughout her life.

Grabbing a white photo album from the book shelf nearby that was filled with different genres she opened it up to a random page and smiled at the pictures that appeared of her holding a stuffed wolf. The carnival lights seemed just as bright from that day and she could almost taste the cotton candy from the photo. She closed her eyes and reimagined the moment in her head.

Her wrinkled fingers trailed over her neck until they found a little glass bottle hanging from a small chain. She looked at the substance inside before finally noticing the ring that resided on her finger. A tear slipped down as she looked at the white gold band with a ruby and topaz joined together.

"Halmeoni! Halmeoni!" She heard the voice of children's followed by the scattering of their feet. They ran in front of her and attacked her in small hugs.

"Minjun! Sanghee! Stop being so harsh on her, you can hurt her!" A woman in her mid thirties said as she ran up to her kids who were surrounding their grandmother.

"Aww, no it's alright Yunhee. They don't cause me no harm." The old lady replied.

Yunhee bit her lip but nodded. "Arasso, omonim. Kids go play a little in the den while I talk to your halmeoni about what to make for dinner alright?"

"Aigoo, I don't want to." Minjun whined getting off of his grandma's lap.

"Aigoo, who taught you aigoo?" Yunhee taunted pinching her sons cheeks. "Now go hurry up before your sister hogs the play dough."

Minjun turned around to see Sanghee was nowhere in sight. Without wasting anymore time he left in a flash after his sister.

Yunhee watched the child leave before giving her attention back to her mother in law. "Omonim, how are you doing?"

"I'm doing just fine." The elder said nodding her head looking forward at nothing in particular.

Yunhee titled her head a bit unconvinced. "Eunmi, are you sure? The funeral was just two days ago..." Her voice spoke softly in order to not hit a nerve with the old woman buy Eunmi sat down remaining unphased.

The kids came running in pushing past their mother and sitting by their grandma's feet. "Halmeoni! Minjun said love doesn't exist or come true!" Sanghee shouted pointing her finger at her older brother.

"Halmeoni! Sanghee thinks fairy tales exist, please tell her she's a babo!" Minjun retorted back at the girl.

Yunhee shook her head before her attention was taking away by the ringing of her phone. She excused herself and left for the kitchen to answer the call from her husband.

"How about Halmeoni tells you kids some stories?" The elder spoke leaning forward to get a better look at her grandchildren.

"Ooh! Tell us about the war!" Minjun shot up immediately. Eunmi tried not to cringe in front of him.

"No! Tell us about how you fell in love!" Sanghee suggested. Eunmi looked outside a window thinking to herself. How did she fall in love? Yunhee walked in also curious about the topic. "How did you fall in love, omonim I would love to hear the story." Yunhee said pulling up a chair. She smiled as she prompted her head on the palm of her hands.

Eunmi looked back at the cage where the birds were silent now. "Okay, I'll tell you then. But it's a long story so be patient." The children nodded their heads understanding. "I guess I'll start in 1947 with my Junior year."

Chapter 4: I really wonder who that boy was... I hope he shows up in the later chapter :) I am afraid of seeing blood too makes me uncomfortable and can't even listen to anyone explaining a bloody situation. I have a vivid imagination as well... lol XD I am surprised she didn't freak out when she woke up and saw chen though.
P.S. I think that guy was Sehun most likely but Lay hasn't been introduced yet, right?

I look forward to the next chapter :)

This is really different from all the other cliche fanfics. I like how you start the story off with eunmi reminiscing about her life.
