Ten years ago, everything was torn apart from the great Wuxia; Li Xiao Yao. He promised to himself that he'll never return to Nanzhao, unless his Zhao Ling'er is to be awaken again, and be by his side. Li Xiao Yao lived alone with his daughter Li Yi Ru, since his aunt passed away leaving them both to take care of the Inn. Xiao Yao has never been the same ever since he returned from his Nanzhao trip. Seeing everyone he loved dying in front him made his heart break more than ever.

Raising his daughter Li Yi Ru was difficult, but then he still had quite some help from his concubine Ai Qie, and his slave Xiu Lan. Yi Ru grew up never knowing who her mother was, and always wanted to hear great stories from her father. Yi Ru knew that her mother was the greatest woman out there, and had always wanted to meet her, but there can be no chance, because her mother was long gone.

Li Xiao Yao loves his daughter so much, not because she resemblence Ling'er, but reminds him of how nice and wonderful Ling'er was. He always told stories to her about his trip to Nanzhao and how he got his powers. Li Xiao Yao told everything to his daughter and never once will he miss one word. Yi Ru wanted to see Nanzhao so much, she wanted to go see if her grandfather whose been sending gifts and treats to Li Xiao Yao's home.

Sending quests and guards to take Li Yi Ru to rule Nanzhao and take his place once he's gone, but Li Xiao Yao did not let that happen. Xiao Yao also taught great kung fu to a young boy named Wang Xiao Hu, who is to guard Li Yi Ru when he's not home. Wang Xiao Hu and Li Yi Ru grew up together being the bestest friends, Yi Ru can get whatever she wants by just asking her little Xiao Hu.

So one night, she ordered Xiao Hu to go with her to Nanzhao, just to see the town and her mother's graveyard. Just to experience life outside for once, and she promised to come back home after seeing everything she wants. No matter how much Xiao Hu would do to make Yi Ru stay, he gave up and decided to take Yi Ru. Even though they would be in the biggest trouble, Xiao Hu would do anything to make his master's daughter happy.

Then that's when, they both meet their obstacle courses.
