▬ on-stage pretty little princess

jinki would be lying to your face if she said that her personality on stage is the same as her personality backstage. like any other sm entertainment idol, jinki has been given a persona she has to live by and that persona is the on-stage pretty little princess. this pretty little liar is everything your kawaii desu-desu weeaboo would worship: porcelain face, sweet voice, quirky attitude and weak appearance. Oh wait, did I forget to mention pink galore? yes, this daughter of a queen is adorned with all things cute and pink. heck, her stage name, ‘kipsy’ is enough to give you a hint of how she is. she’s a tomboy’s living nightmare. overall, princess jinki is a bubbly and ditzy airhead who all mcs will ask to perform her aegyo in front of the camera. jinki always has a smile on her face and has a very enjoyable aura to those around her. someone like her is always nice to have around especially when you need a laugh because she’s always there to take you out for ice cream. despite her cheerful self, when someone pokes fun at her, she will burst up into tears. our little princess can be quite a cry baby at times; even extreme enough to pull tantrums when out shopping.

▬ i do it for the fans

it is very obvious that jinki’s personality is very exaggerated which often results in it looking a bit…forced. scratch that – hella forced. for example, when someone pinches her cheeks during an interview because of something cute that she said, you could see that look in her eyes that says, “get the off me or so help me i will bite your hand off.” though she could still be smiling as they do that. her actions are very staged as well. you know how shinee’s onew trips a lot? yeah, like that. i mean, she can stand on her own two feet perfectly fine but because she has a reputation to live up to [ plus a career to uphold ], she looks like a clumsy fool who can barely walk. okay. Maybe not that intense but you get my point. there’s also the idea of this whole, “i’m obsessed with mango bubble tea and i will do anything for it!” jinki, when she was still a trainee, enjoyed mango bubble tea and was often caught drinking it. though, when pre-debut pictures of jinki were released, fans took it to a whole other level and made her seem like it was her most favorite thing in the entire world. she could probably relate this situation with xiumin’s ‘baozi’ situation. hence why there are many fandom jokes revolving around her and bubble tea.

all hail to the mothain’ queen, es. you no like? haters to the left! off-camera, the kawaii pinkeu princesseu is the biggest you can ever come across. bad-mannered and loose tongued, this clever individual is much like a barbarian; minus the brawn and the outdated fashion. okay, so she’s not a total badass and no, she’s not a rebel but she’s pretty good at acting like one. jinki’s a real pain in your you-knows when you befriend her because she’s lazier that your mother on a bad day. unless told to, she won’t do anything to help your sorry behind. you want food? too bad. oh you fell? lol! hold up, let me get my phone out! yeah, quite the total asswipe if you ask me. there is a common misconception that jinki is an but actually, her being an asswipe is far different from being an . like, the gap is so tremendous, you’d probably need a boat to get across that gap. if you ever tell her, “you ,” she will go out of her way to tell you, “i think the word you’re looking for is asswipe.” jinki is the type of person who simply does not care. it is beyond jinki to ever dream of tripping you but if you ever did trip, she would simply watch you pick up the papers you dropped. jinki’s level of being an asswipe is so extreme that it actually brings misfortune to those around her. she wouldn’t do anything to hurt you but she wouldn’t even move to help you. She might also laugh at you at the sight of you falling over.

▬ watch your mouth, you ho!

alright, so jinki’s mouth may not be the cleanest places on earth. in fact, it’s worse than the contents of urban dictionary. it’s second language to her, cursing. it’s even the nicknames of some of her friends! listening to jinki curse in the royal dorm is quite amusing especially when she is one xbox rage. it’s not rare that the members hear something like, “you mothering ! how did that kill me? that was my kill you tard! mine! holy that was so gay! this game is gay!” followed with a bunch of tables flipping and so on and so forth. of course, when this happens, the members always find a kick out of it especially if she hasn’t changed out of her clothes and still looks like her innocent self. jinki’s cursing brings liveliness and comedy to the apartment even if it’s unintended.

▬ one simply does not care

jinki is probably the worst person to talk to when you’re having problems because she’ll either not listen to you or give you terrible advice. for instance, if you were having problems with a cheating boyfriend, she’d probably tell you to burn his house down or just confront the motherer. jinki is probably the most realistic one in her family especially since she’s the middle child. growing up, she never felt that the world was out to get her like an older child would feel, but she would never feel like everyone treated her like a child like the youngest would feel; she was just the spoiled brat of the family that got whatever she wanted because her parents felt like she was always the odd one out of the kids. even then, she didn’t care if she got whatever she wanted. jinki is just trying to get through life like any other person, you know?

background: 

jinki hyun jongmin was born on the american new year’s day to jinki hyunseung and jinki eunseo. her father, jinki hyunseung, is a neurosurgeon and her mother, jinki eunseo, is a neurologist. jinki has two siblings: jinki donghyun, her older brother, and jinki minjung, her younger sister. the jinki family also includes their samoyed, ryder, and two bichon frises: blair [ female ] and colin [ male ] jinki’s family currently resides in busan, south korea.

jinki and donghyun, the eldest of the three, were born in gwangmyeong-si, gyeonggi-do but moved to busan at 2 years old because it was closer to where their parents worked. two years after they moved, minjung was born in busan. jinki entered high school in busan as she was still too young to attend school prior to their leave of gwangmyeong-si. there, she attended jungbu elementary school with choi jinri, who is more commonly known as f(x)’s choi jinri. they were friends from the start…okay maybe not. things were a bit rocky for them in the beginning. it first started when jinri refused to give jinki her milk box so jinri forcefully took it from her. this happened for a few more times until jinri started took an extra milk box with her to school to give to jinki. so basically, they became friends over jinki’s freeloading.

in 3^th grade, their friendship finally became legitimate. they spent as much of their time with each other and even took their friendship out to the public. they would hang out at the ice cream shop or play at the playground for a few hours. but despite the times they spent with each other, their parents wondered how they could even tolerate each other. jinki was the captain of the girls’ basketball team while jinri was the lead role of their school’s plays and musicals. anyway, upon entering 4^th grade jinki was actually the youngest player on the basketball team and to be a captain at that age was amazing. she played both point guard and small power forward with an incredible free throw and three-pointer percentage. jinki achieved 97+ marks across the board and tied for class valedictorian with jinri. there was no jealousy between them because grades  weren’t such a big deal to them as it normally would with others. jinki and jinri were both honorable mentions in their fields which made their families immensely happy. they went to the same middle school, chungdam middle school.

middle school wasn’t any different for them really. they didn’t change in personalities and their activities didn’t change either. actually, hold on. in 6^th grade, along with basketball, jinri persuaded jinki to join drama club and glee club with her. jinki and jinri were excellent singers, top-notch might I add. they entered many talent shows and contests in their school as individual acts or duets but they were never noticed. they promised each other that they would attend the same schools for the rest of their student careers but they then realized that was not going to happen late in their middle school years. in 7^th grade, high school visitations were opened to their school. many high schools visited their middle school but different schools appealed to jinki and jinri. in 8^th grade, they decided on their schools and were sad at the turnout. jinki went to chungdam high school and jinri went to seoul arts high school.

even though jinri wasn’t there anymore, she made new friends but never forgot to keep in touch with jinri. in high school, her personality began to change. she went from the tomboy-ish girl to the “ it” attitude. she became a more independent person once jinri left and was on her own for the first 3-4 months of freshman year. the first friend she made there was a slightly chubby boy who was shunned by a lot of their classmates; his name was lee jung hwan [ who is now known as b1a4’s lee sandeul. ] he wasn’t bad looking, jinki would admit, but he wasn’t mr. perfect either. jung hwan wore thick glasses and had a round face, making him an easy target to bullying; he didn’t do anything about it.

jinki first met jung hwan during basketball tryouts. they were the only freshmen there and jinki couldn’t believe her eyes when she saw the freshman loser at tryouts. she asked him if he was asking for a death wish but he told her that he wanted to live a better lifestyle and become slimmer. jinki shrugged it off thinking that he wasn’t going to stay true to his word and quit on the first game but was proven wrong. He attended every freshman team practice as well as every game they had that season. amazed, jinki decided that she was going to help him with his ‘losing weight’ goal but nothing more than that. “no physical contact, no aegyo, no kiss ups, no cheating, no dating and absolutely and positively no falling in love with me,” were jinki’s conditions. this was solely a ‘workout program’, nothing more. eventually, they began getting comfortable around each other to call themselves ‘friends.’ their friendship actually didn’t rocket off until the middle of sophomore year.

for three years, it was only jung hwan and jinki in their circle of friends, until senior year, taemin was added. taemin had been there since freshman year but they never really became friends with him because he was always out promoting with shinee. anyway, jung hwan and jinki were in the music room at that time practicing their act for the school talent show when taemin walked in on them. they weren’t doing anything bad but it was a bit embarrassing for taemin because well…he interrupted someone’s practice session. jinki knew who he was prior to that incident and had seen him several times at when she was at sm but never enough that they were actually able to talk to each other. he was always with shinee or away filming something. so taemin eventually became friends with them over time through their music practices and kept in touch with them while he was out in another country. even after he transferred out, he still kept in touch.

after they graduated, they immediately separated to their jobs. jung hwan had been scouted by wm entertainment and was preparing for his debut with b1a4. jinki on the other hand was training at sm entertainment preparing for her debut with royal. because of that, their time together was limited. the upside of that was that they attended the same university and it turns out that they didn’t have to separate from each other after all. sandeul and her currently attend seoul institute of the arts; him with an acting minor and her with a pharmacy minor.

in all honesty, jinki rarely gets to see her family anymore since she’s always busy training and comes back to her apartment late at night. she loves her family but the thing is, she never has enough time to do anything with them even if she wanted to. currently, her family lives about an hour and a half from her dorm [ by train ]. her parents are just the same, they don’t see their kids as often though they do see each other because they both work in the same hospital. they both work in a hospital in gangnam and sometimes don’t come home until the next day. donghyun has moved out of the house and is a full time pharmacist. he’s making a good living out of his job and plans to move out of south korea soon to go to america because he feels that he will make better money there. minjung is currently a senior in chungdam high school. she is really the only one at the house when she gets home from school. even though they don't get to spend a lot of time with each other, they fully support one another in their decisions and love each other equally.

trainee days: 

okay so you want to know how training was like? living hell, thank you very much. jinki first started training when she was 13 years old. so maybe she auditioned out of pure stupidity. no. not stupidity. she did it in the name of her best friend, choi jinri. jinri wanted to try out so badly because it was her dream to become known for her singing. jinki on the other hand thought she would get a kick out of doing it. she wasn’t really surprised when she passed the first round because she believed that unless you’re down right terrible, you always pass the first round. she was still pretty calm but a bit moved when she, as well as jinri, passed the second round. at this point, she was freaking. she found out that the last round was to sing in front of mr. ceo himself and she never thought she would make it. but she did. it still amazes her how she passed auditions but he doesn’t complain. at least she was training with her best friend.

her first week of training was pretty easy; you know, the usual warm ups and such for the beginners. it was only about one month in when she was starting to feel the heat. jinki was a singer, not a dancer and if there’s one thing sm is known for, it’s their dancing and their looks. talent can be enhanced with training but their main focus is looks and outer appearances. anyway, it took a while for jinki to ever look like she was dancing. her body, because it was used o sharp and hard movements from basketball, made it hard for her to show fluid movements. when the rest of the class would move on to a different subject, she would still be left behind in their previous lesson. sm instructors suggested that she take yoga classes to loosen her muscles up. yoga did a lot for her in terms of flexibility. her movements were a lot more fluid and soon she became one of the few most flexible trainees there. she was still the black hole of dancing, that she can’t change. all the instructors would groan at having to teach her or conduct private lessons with her. though, the reason why they still tried was because she was flexible and they thought that would get her anywhere [ it never did. ]

a lot of the trainees there were a lot older than her so it was very common that she get bullied and pushed around by the others. some trainees would make her do errands that they were supposed to run but of course, since she was younger, she couldn’t go against their orders. this was regular behavior in the agency so it wasn’t something that you could just complain about and everything would get better. such treatment went on all throughout her time there. there were always people who were older than her and there were always those brats that thought they were better than everyone. as far as her regular training went, she also took voice lessons since she aspired to become a singer. she quickly passed the lessons given to her and recorded a few demo tapes with the help of some producers. her videos were for herself and were never released to the public.

around 15 years old, she took up violin lessons. one thing that blended well with her playing was her flexibility. instead of just standing there playing, she learned that dancing while playing was a lot more fun than being stationary. of course, it wasn’t anything special since super junior’s henry lau had already done that. jinki quickly learned that she loved the violin and knew that she had a knack at playing it. jinki was quite happy at her newfound talent because she felt like she was one of those unaccomplished trainees:  she couldn’t dance to save her life, her singing was good but not good enough, and she couldn’t rap even if she wanted to. she thought negatively many times throughout her trainee life, especially since sm entertainment was far from her home.

her regular schedule went a little like this: get up at 5:00 and get to school by 6:30, school for 8 hours then basketball practice at 3:30, leave school and take the 4:30 train with sandeul to seoul to train, take the 6:00 bus from the subway station and get to the sm building by 6:30, train up until 9:30, take the bus to the subway station and arrive at 9:30, take the 9:45 bus to busan with sandeul, get home at 10:30, take the bus and get home at 10:45, eat late dinner, finish homework and hopefully get to bed by 11:30. sometimes, she would just pull all-nighters and go for two days without sleeping, only taking 5 minute naps or 1 hour naps during study hall instead of actually studying. jinki felt like giving up many times but since she had already gone so far, she decided to see how far she could go.

his personality: 

kim minseok, or xiumin as he prefers to be called, is pretty two-faced to be quite honest. he has a soft side to him but at the same time, he has a judgmental side to him. although his inner self can be a bit mean, xiumin’s outer self is a very friendly and optimistic person. he is able to balance out his personality because he knows how to balance harmony with authority. it isn’t likely that xiumin gets angry but he does have his up and downs.  though xiumin seems like a very open minded guy, he actually has a darker side to himself. because he depends on mostly himself, he developed his own self-pride. He likes to think highly of himself and likes to put himself before others. he’s very careful in talking about himself because he’s afraid of spilling out his personal traits; weaknesses and strengths. one thing that xiumin takes advantage of is others’ weaknesses. if he finds out one’s weakness, he’ll keep it in mind for future reference when he needs a favor. besides, it’s not bad to get a little help every once in a while. xiumin can be a bit of a smart-aleck as well. he isn’t afraid to speak his mind when it comes to setting people straight or really just to annoy them. he can be annoying at times but he likes to watch peoples’ reactions for the fun of it. his comebacks and witty comments can drive one to insanity because he just won’t stop. his sarcasm adds more salt to the wound. when confronted about his comebacks, he’ll act innocent and say, “what did I do?” complete with a set of puffed cheeks and puppy pout. one can’t deny xiumin of being cute, that’s why it makes people more irritated at him.

his personality: 

kyungsoo is a very level-headed, and collected kind of guy who bears no weight on his shoulders. being open minded, it is easy for him to be whisked away into daydreaming or sleeping. he is very gentle and is a rational thinker. Making choices with his head, rather than his gut feeling is something that he is good at. kyungsoo is very understanding so others will come to him when they need someone to talk to. kyungsoo is very generous but at times, he can be possessive; especially when it comes to things that he wants to keep for himself. he likes to share with others things that he doesn’t need or want but if it’s his and he likes it, he won’t share it with anyone. kyungsoo can sometimes get a bit jealous at times. “green with envy” one might say. if he sees something he wants, he’ll get close to the person so they can share it with him. kyungsoo can’t handle strict criticism well. he doesn’t like to judge, nor does he like to be judged. he is a great listener and very motherly. kyungsoo often gives advice to those who are facing difficulties and takes care of those younger than him. he takes charge when everyone seems down and gives them pep talks to renew their spirits. he has a lot of creative ideas but he doesn’t know how to put it into action; he needs help from others if he wants to get something done.
