Please Rest

Sick Day

If you asked her how he got sick again, she couldn’t tell you. It worried her to no end, because he always seemed to have the sniffles even when he would swear that he was fine, but today it was so bad that the other members wouldn’t let him leave his bed. Yongguk had called her early that morning asking for help.

“We have a schedule today, but there’s no way he can come. Can you come over to make sure he stays in bed?” His voice pleaded, still sleepy.

She agreed and slipped some essentials into a bag and slipped into the darkness to avoid the fan girls that would be waiting outside their dorm. By the time she arrived at the building, the sun was almost up and she could see the bodies beginning to move towards their van. Sitting on a bus station bench, she waited until Yongguk texted her that it was safe to go in.

Unnoticed, she slipped into the building and up to the BAP dorm where she found her poor boyfriend laid up in bed, sneezing and sniffling constantly.

“Himchannie-Oppa? It’s me,” she questioned softly after kicking her shoes off at the door, hoping he didn’t have a headache along with his cold.

His eyes instantly lit up and he tried to stand, but the dizziness from his fever took over and he fell back onto the bed almost instantly. A small smile tried to form on his face, but turned into a pout when she glared playfully at him.

“Oppa, how do you keep getting sick?” She asked, ushering him back into bed and under the covers. He pouted up at her as she tucked him in and she almost felt her heart crack.

“Jagiya, will you cuddle with me?” Himchan whined from under the covers of his bed. He stared up at her with big eyes, smiling an almost too sweet smile. A soft sigh left her lungs and her face visibly softened.

“Oppa, you need to rest,” she replied, knowing that if she lay with him, he’d never fall asleep.

Himchan’s face resorted back to a pout as he stretched his arms out like a child.

“But, I always feel better when you’re with me,” he pouted, whining like a needy 5 year old. She looked down at the pitiful expression he was making and used all of her strength to shake her head. She wanted him to rest above all, and if she lay with him they would stay up talking the whole day.

“Okay then, will you hold my hand until I fall asleep?” He whined, practically melting her heart with the sweetness of the whole situation. She was completely taken aback by the tenderness of his words and before she had a chance to respond, he asked for something else.

“Can I have a small kiss on the cheek? I don’t want you to get sick but I miss you,”

She felt her face heat up, burning almost as hot as his was. She pulled a stool up and sat beside the bed quietly and with a tender touch she grasped his hand.

“I don’t care if I get sick, all I want is for you to feel better,” she smiled, leaning closer to peck him on the cheek softly. His skin was burning hot, almost searing and every amount of pain in her body for him was shown on her face.

“No Jagi, I won’t stand for it if you get sick. I want to see you smile,” he said with a slight blush and a heart melting smile, “but could you feed me some soup? I am a little hungry; ramen would be great if we have any.”

She couldn’t help but grin at Himchan. He was dieting so much lately that hearing him ask for ramen made her extremely happy.  She nodded, knowing that Yongguk would have a stash of ramen somewhere in the dorm. Himchan offered to help her, but she was having none of that and playfully scolded him for getting out of bed.

“I’ll only smile when you smile, let me go make your ramen,”

She quickly found where Yongguk kept his ramen; he’s not good at hiding anything from anyone, and joined Himchan in his bedroom once it had cooled slightly. With her help, he propped himself up on a couple of pillows and pouted while cutely asking for a bite of the spicy soup.

After a couple of spoonfuls, Himchan smiled widely before blurting out, “Wow, this is really good! Maybe you can make it for me as my wife one day!”

Her face practically froze as the heat returned to her cheeks. W-wife?

“W-what?” she stuttered out staring down into the bowl of ramen, stirring it awkwardly.

Himchan’s cheeks began to burn, not from his fever, but from the realization that he actually said that out loud. Where had his mental filter gone?

“Oops, I said that out loud huh?” He whispered with a nervous laugh.  She swore that her face was going to tear at the seams seeing Himchan so nervous. It was a rare occasion to see Himchan blush or get flustered, so she wanted to milk it for all it had.

“Oppa? You never get nervous, hmmmm,” she said, smiling and reaching for one of the hands that were now plastered to his very red face.

“Sh-shut up, even I get nervous sometimes, especially around you,” he stuttered shyly. He pulled his hand away from his girlfriend and yanked the blankets over his head to hide his burning face.

A light dusting of pink found her cheeks at his tender words, so to avoid showering him in love; she tried to continue feeding him.

“Aren’t you going to finish your ramen? I slaved over a hot stove for you,” she complained trying to battle Himchan with a pout of her own.

“No, wait! I want to eat more, Jagi, thanks for working so hard for me,”

“I dunno, you seemed pretty tired, maybe I should leave and let you rest,”

“Noo, don’t leave me,” Himchan said, snuggling his cheek into her palm. She became flustered at the unbearably gentle action and began tripping over her words. He was usually cute with her, but this was a whole different level of adorable.

“D-don’t pout at me like that, you’ll make my heart hurt,” she admitted, turning away from the sweet smile now plastered on her boyfriend’s face. His smile faded into a sad expression as he tried to smother her with his aegyo.

“You’ll make mine hurt if you leave,” Himchan said with his bottom lip jutted out in an attempt to get his way.

Knowing she couldn’t say no to an upset looking Himchan, she began to bargain with him as much as she could, considering she was already on the losing side of the situation.

“Fine, I won’t leave, but you have to promise to at least try to get some rest,”

Himchan wasn’t too keen on the idea of sleeping away the one free day he had with his girlfriend, but he knew that she would leave if he didn’t agree to it.

“Aww, okay…But will you lay next to me? Please~?” He pleaded, trying to pull her into the space beside him on the bed.

A confusion swept through her brain…hadn’t he just denied her a kiss because he didn’t want her to get sick?

“What? I thought you were worried about me getting sick,”

A groan rang through the dorm, sometimes she listened too much to what he said. Himchan whined a quick “you’re making this hard for me, Jagi~” and she gave in almost instantly, laughing off her earlier comment.

“Aww, I’m sorry Oppa, I just like messing with you,”

Himchan pouted softly; he wasn’t sure if he liked the playful side of his girlfriend while he was sick or not yet.

            “So, is that a no?”

“That depends; do you still want me to lay with you?

His brows furrowed as he continued to pull her into the bed, “of course, should that even count as a question?”

“I guess not,” she said smiling and shaking her head.

A slight giggle left her lips, which sounded like music to Himchan’s ears. Her giggles were the thing that could melt Himchan no matter what she had said, just because they were that cute. As he was lost in the sounds of her giggling, she lay beside him and smiled brightly, breathing in the scent of Himchan from the pillow.

“I like your bed,” she smiled, giggling again when a pink blush ran across Himchan’s cheeks. It must have been his cold; he was never this shy around her before. He reached out to her wanting her closer to him, wanting to feel her heart beating against him. The blush on his cheeks got darker as he opened his mouth to speak.

“Would…Would you come a little closer?” His voice was barely above a whisper, but he could feel it shaking as he spoke.

She nodded and moved to bury herself into Himchan’s chest.

“Is this better?” She asked quietly, hoping it would ease him into a sleep.

The blush earlier hadn’t disappeared and continued to spread to his ears and neck as he ran his fingers delicately through her soft hair. He wanted to stay like this forever, just snuggled up to her with no worries in the world. Finally debuting in an Idol group had put a strain on their relationship and the first few months had been awful for the both of them, but now, snuggled against each other, Himchan realized that he couldn’t imagine getting through it without her. She would stay up late and wait for just a five minute phone call or a quick video chat, even though she had class early the next morning and through it all she had promised him, no matter what she’d be there, supporting him.
