Caught
(The show)

“I'm just a little bit caught in the middle
Life is a maze, and love is a riddle
I don't know where to go
Can't do it alone
I've tried, but I don't know why,”
she sang, head bobbing to the beat.

“Slow it down, make it stop
Or else my heart is going to pop
‘Cause it's too much, yeah it's a lot
To be something I'm not,” he joined in and she turned around to face him, smiling, mouthing the lyrics.

“I'm a fool out of love
‘Cause I just can't get enough,”
they sang as she skipped backwards, casually patting his arms and he laughed, the upbeat song playing through the earphones that they shared, with him taking the left bud and her, the right.

“I'm just a little bit caught in the middle”

Their eyes met.

“Life is a maze, and love is a riddle”

They smiled in understanding.

“I don't know where to go”

She shook her head and pouted while he shrugged.

“Can't do it alone”

And she turned back again, walking in step with him.

“I've tried, but I don't know why”

They slung their arms around each other.

“I'm just a little girl lost in the moment”

And he rolled his eyes while she giggled.

I'm so scared but I don't show it
I can't figure it out
It's bringing me down
I know,
I've got to let it go”

Cherry blossoms rained down around her and he stared at her as she turned to look back, questioningly, expecting him to join in the song again, still smiling, the wind blowing in her hair. They had stopped in the middle of a stone paved street. Voices of middle aged stall owners and young entrepreneurs selling little trinkets lining the pathway added to the white buzz that was growing louder in his mind. She frowned, finding his behaviour odd, before hooking her arm in his, dragging him down the street and continuing to sing, oblivious. His heart palpitated as he clumsily followed her through the raining cherry blossoms, legs tripping over each other, his eyes never once leaving her.

“And just enjoy the show”

Suddenly, she wasn’t just a friend anymore.

Chapter 2: I've read both of these on soeulscribbler, but I never thought that they could be together as a two-shot. It really changes the perspective of the story for me.
