♡ 〉 love story — taylor swift

sᴡᴇᴇᴛʜᴇᴀʀᴛs ♥
it's  a love story, baby just say yes....

It started from a barbeque party, yes, a neighborhood bbq filled with freshly grilled corn on the cob and smoking hot ribs with sauce drizzling down the sides. Corny country music blasted from the squeaky speakers and parents bustled around, setting down plates, arranging utensils, preparing food. The children were innocent and free from the chores; they were all sprawled out on the soft grass or running around on playground. Swings let out soft squeals as children jumped on off of them and the collection of small feet shouted quite loudly against the pavement as they played a good game of chess.

In corner of the sandbox sat Zhang Yilin, or Lyn for short. She was decked out in a pretty yellow t-shirt with a giant sunflower in the center and had on a pair of white shorts and cute sandals. Her chestnut brown hair was parted into two bpraids, matched with lemon chiffon colored ribbons. She seemed to be quite lost amongst the kids; she moved to South Korea only a few weeks ago and she was still adjusting to the Korean culture rather than the her usual Chinese one. Her older brother, Yixing, or Lay, had no problem fitting in. Minutes after the Zhangs arrival, Lay had found himself a group of boys his age and forgot about his lonely sister who was kicking sand up and down and wishing for home — home as in Changsha.

Many little kids didn't notice Lyn sitting there, isolated from any sort of interaction but not Kim Jongdae (some called him Chen). He had taken notice of the girl he thought of as a star ever since she waddled in with her parents and older brother. She shone like a star too him, the brightest one in fact because he could not discribe the glowing aura around the girl; it was as if she had floated down to earth from the night sky he enjoyed watching so much. But he didn't dare approach her...why? Because he was scared. Yes, infamous prankster Jongdae was scared. It was hard to admit, even to himself because he had never been scared before. No, not even when he was being attacked by chubby boy Chanyeol with his team of ferrets. How he got the little fur balls, Jongdae had no idea, but the ferrets were quite nasty...nastier than Chanyeol. Apparently they didn't like it when Jongdae stole their biscuits from them.

So, Jongdae could only sit quietly, yes, quietly for once in his lifetime, and stare at the ball of sunshine. How a girl could look so cute kicking sand, he had no idea, but she did. He felt himself smile as she stared at her auburn colored hair which seemed lighter by the sun. He enjoyed watching her lithe actions, her feeble kicks and stomps. He just liked her, no explanation needed. He liked her more than a water gun fight — and that was saying something. He was nicknamed the king of water guns; even the older kids couldn't beat him, but he had chosen to sit out so he could watch her. Of course his hyungs had stared at him strangely, but he had dismissed it with a wave of his hand and continued to sit and stare.

People around Lyn moved around, but Lyn stayed rooted at her spot. Perhaps that was why she wasn't able to dodge the ray of water that shot directly at her face. She immediately jumped up as cold water splashed her face, droplets trickling down and soaking her favorite shirt. dropped open and she quickly turned to the culprit, a bit alarmed and angry. It turned out to be a raven haired boy with unusually tanned skin that shot her and he looked just as surprised as she did. She felt her anger washing away but not her annoyance. Her outfit was still drenched after all.

"M-Mianhe." The boy said and Lyn opened to respond. Before she could 'though, a boy popped into her line of vision and he stood in front of her, as if he was guarding her.

"Kim Jongin," Jongdae said in an accusing tone, "what did you just do?"

Jongin shifted his feelt, ashamed he had hit a girl but the unusual weak face the cocky Jongin wore was not enough to satisfy Jongdae. How dare he hit his star? What happened next was not expected; Jongdae jumped at Jongin, little fasts swatting at the younger boy while lecturing him. However, Jongdae was weaker than Jongin (despite being older), and the younger one easily locked both Jongdae's fists and stared at him, amused and confused.

There was a reason why Jongdae was positioned as a prankter. He had no strength but heck, he had a lot of devious plans to cover for that flaw. But with both his arms pinned down, he had no choice but to forfeit the fight he started with Jongin. Jongin quickly left after than and Jongdae turned to Lyn with red cheeks. He looked so uncool in front of her and it upset him to know that. He expected her to turn away from him, to just march off because he definitely looked like a wimp out on the battlefield, but she had walked up to him, shyly too.

"H-Hi." She said in the sweetest voice Jongdae had ever heard. She loved her accented Korean, her soft yet clear voice and it took him a few seconds to snap out of his daze. When he did, his cheeks darkened even more and he quickly introduced himself, "I'm Jongdae."

"Lyn." Jongdae felt himself smile at her name and over ten years later, he still acted like that shy six year old. The now twenty one year old troll was arranging the banner for the annual neighborhood barbeque. No longer was he let off from the tedious set up and clean up plans but he didn't mind it. Why? Because standing next to his ladder was Lyn who was ripping pieces of tape for him to tape the banner up. Once in a while he would stumble with getting the tap and touch her fingers longer than it was needed; it sent shivers down his spine and made his heart beat faster than a game of soccer with Luhan.

"Is there something on my face?" Lyn asked after catching Jongdae staring at her again.

"H-Huh?" Jongdae stammered as he quickly tore his eyes away from her and instead, focused on the butcher paper, "N-No."

"If you say so." Lyn shrugged as she set the tape down and steadied the ladder as Jongdae jumped off. She was moving away from the spot to help with laying out the food when he felt an arm pull her back. She stared at Jongdae questioningly.

"Um...will you, maybe, be at the dance later tonight?" It was a tradition for the older teens and young adults to have a formal dance after the dinner. Girls would change in a nearvy home, decking out in pretty dresses and heels and boys would do the same, except in tuxes and ties.

"Of course." Lyn said and Jongdae beamed at her, his pearly white teeth showing.

"Awesome." And then the boy sprinted off, spreading his legs and jumping up and down as if he was doing hurdles. Lyn laughed at this and watched for a few moments more before turning her heel and walking off.

"I'm betting twenty that you'll be getting a boyfriend tonight." A colored bill floated down onto the table and Lyn stared at Yimei, eyes wide. Yimei — the maknae amongst the girls here never bet...or at least, she wasn't allowed to because of Yifan.

"Yi—"

"Same here." Another note slammed down, this time by Minjung who high-fived Yimei and shot Lyn smug looks. Lyn felt her cheeks heat up from her friends actions.

"I wouldn't say so." Jisung piped up as she joined the girls in the living room, a smirk on her face, "I wouldn't say so."

Lyn wanted to question what Jisung meant further but before she had a chance to, all the girls were ushered out for the dance. This year's theme was masquerade ball so masks were handed out as the girls stepped towards the park where twinkling lights lit up the arena.

Mandy Moore's voice was just fading out when Lyn came out and Taylor's song replaced it. She smiled as the familiar Romeo and Juliet song blasted out and she already felt her body swaying gently to the beat.

"Dancing already? You should save one for me." Hot breath tickled the nape of her neck, and Lyn jumped at the forced husky tone. She turned around to see Jongdae, still obvious behind his lime green mask.

"YAH! You scared me." She said, her eyebrows knitting together. A crestfallen expression appeared on Jongdae's face,.

"I scared you? Aren't girls supposed to be smitten with this? Don't they like husky voices and —"

"When that guy is y like Orlando Bloom or something." Lyn cut him off and Jongdae pouted. Lyn sighed at his fail aegyo; despite it's weak effect, it still made her give in to him.

"Didn't you say you were going to dance with me?'

"You want to dance with me?"

"If you don't want to I'll find Kris—"

"NO!" Instantly, Lyn was pulled towards the troll who quickly wrapped her arm around his waist and took her hand. They stepped into a perfect waltz, twirling around the area. They didn't talk throughout the dance; it was only when the song was coming to an end when Jongdae suddenly broke apart and sang on the top of his lungs,

"I LOVE YOU AND THAT'S ALL I REALLY KNOW
I TALKED TO YOUR DAD GO PICK OUT A WHITE DRESS
IT'S A LOVE STORY, BABY JUST SAY YES!"

Eyes turned and masks dropped as everyone gathered in a circle to watch Jongdae's confession...or, at least, it seemed like a confession.

Lyn's eyes widened and she stared at Jongdae, flabbergasted at his way of "confessing". Of course she knew he liked her; it wasn't that hard to see. Scratch that, even the blind could see his affections towards him, but for him to confess to her this way...she had never imagined it to be like this.

As the minutes ticked by, Jongdae's confidence fuzzled down and his shoulders sagged, "L-Lyn, I like you. I like you more than Nerf guns and I like spending time with you more than playing Maplestory with Kyungsoo."

A faint "I don't play Maplestory" was heard in the distance but Jongdae ignored it. It was true anyway.

He walked towards the girl, his heart racing as he took one of her hands, gently squeezing it, "And I really want o know if you feel the same way too."

A chorus of "oohs" and "ahs" echoed and Lyn smiled shyly.

"Will you be my girlfriend?" Never had Jongdae sound so sincere and Lyn couldn't help but laugh at the idea of a serious troll. But after collecting herself and catching Jongdae's worried face, she nodded. Jongdae blinked at her, confused, but he finally connected the dots. He wrapped his arms tightly around her, picking her up and swinging her around. The newly born couple was in bliss when they were suddenly interrupted by a person pushing towards them, anger and shock written on his face. Lay stared at the couple with wide eyes before firmly shouting,

"WHAT WHITE DRESS?! YOU CAN'T MARRY MY SISTER LIKE THAT!"

le fluff queen here
and  here it is, the first song of the v-day tracklist: taylor swift's love story featuring everyone's favorite troll couple.
i hope i'm not losing my touch with fluff because this is honestly not what i wanted. and yes, i know it doesn't really
fit with the romeo and juliet tale the song meant but romeo and juliet doesn't quite fit here. lay's epic fail line in the end is an example of that. anyways, i hope you all are having a nice day and i'll see you soon with the next chapter!
