Confusion
Trouble in ParadiseWeeks fly by, and I feel like I haven't had a single day, for myself, to relax.
With some workers going on an early holiday, or just having personal issues that are causing them to not be able to attend the work place, the manager has been calling me to come in more. My working shifts have increased by a lot, and to top that off, I have also been getting more requests to sing at certain bars and clubs.
Day after day, I would be rushing from one place to another, worried about arriving on time, like a crazy workaholic; I would be serving food during the day, and then going to perform during the night. It kept me busy, and my mind was constantly filled with getting the jobs done, but I didn't mind it so much, with the thought of receiving the amount of money in the end.
And the best part about this all was that I had not bumped into that arrogant Kim Himchan.
Ever since he had purposely destroyed my bike, I was extremely grateful, to have not crossed paths with him. There were times where I would get a semi heart attack, whenever I would see a patch of blonde with a similar hair style, standing in the distance.
Or like when I would go into the bars to sing, my eyes couldn’t help but cautiously dart around the place, in search for those sly, narrowed eyes, which held an impish glint.
Thankfully, these days, I had been able to perform more with Yongguk, so his presence was able to take my thoughts away from that crazy jerk. Yongguk had been writing more songs, and I was always so excited to help him out, or hear what he would come up with next.
"Thank you," says a male's voice, as I place down his meal.
I give him and his friends a warm smile. "No worries," I reply. "Please eat a lot, and enjoy the food."
With a polite bow, I then head back into the kitchen, and let out a tired sigh.
Since the start of the day, I had been feeling uneasy, with this nauseous feeling in my stomach. I pushed it aside at first, thinking that maybe I was just hungry, since I hadn't been able to eat much. Food made me feel a little better afterwards, but I was still feeling tired, and the headache wasn't helping either.
Deciding that I was maybe somewhat dehydrated, I walked over to our mini fridge, and pulled out a jug of water, to pour myself a glass. For a split second, I thought the cool liquid would have helped me, but instead, the queasy feeling proceeded to go on.
"Yejin-ah, are you alright?" asks a sudden voice.
I weakly turn to face my college, to see worry etched all over her face. Walking over to the nearest stool, I plop myself onto it, and then give my temples a slight massage. "Yeah," I mutter, with a weak nod. "I'm just a little tired."
Subin blinks at me, and then frowns. "You're more than just tired,” she states. “And you also look pale as heck."
I let out a hum for my answer, and then give my head a shake. "I'm fine, really; I just haven't been able to sleep much."
Her footsteps soon make their way over to me, where she then presses her palm onto my forehead, only to let out a surprised cringe. “Hey, you’re burning up!” she gasps.
I touch my temple slightly, now noticing the slight warmish feel to it. “Well, I have been running around all day...” I mused.
Subin ignores my comment, “You should go home.”
I shake my head, “No—“
But she cuts me off immediately, “Go home.”
“But—“
“Yejin-ah,” begins Subin, in an unusual stern voice. “Go home and rest,” she says, and then adds, “Please.”
My tired eyes meet with her concerned ones, and I eventually give in. She lets out a relieved sigh, and then reassures me that she’ll call someone else to help her out on our shift together, and I nod. Grabbing my things, I then say my goodbye to her, just before exiting the restaurant. I massage my temple a little, in hopes of soothing down the headache, as I start to make my way towards the bus stop. The nauseous feeling in my gut causes me to pick up my pace, but without warning, a sudden dizzy spell swoops over, and overpowers me.
And the last thing I hear before falling over, is the sound of a few people quickly rushing to my side, asking me to wake up.

Shuffling in my spot a bit, I slowly open my eyes, and the first thing I notice, is the gentle consecutive beeps, coming from a machine of some sort. I blink a few times, and once my vision clears itself up, I realise just how white my surroundings are. My nose manages to pick up a disinfected smell, and being able to piece all of the clues together, my lips frown, upon the realisation of my whereabouts.
Why the heck am I in the hospital?
Thinking about it, the memory of just before I out, comes rushing back, and I let out a sigh.
Did I really faint in the middle of nowhere...?
I notice a strange sensation coming from my right hand, and when I put my left hand on top of it to feel something odd, I look down. A bandage rests over it, and I see a tube sticking out from underneath. My eyes scan the tube, until it leads me to a medical fluid bag, resting on a stand next to me. I let out a soft groan, not believing that this was happening. Turning over to my left, I was about to further rest my eyes, but the very familiar face of the male patient next to me, prevents that.
My eyes instantly widen, and I gasp.
What the—?!
My intake of air was so sudden and harsh, that it causes me to choke and splutter on my own saliva. "What are you doing here?!" I eventually squeak out, with overflowing disbelief.
Out of all the places to see him, he had to be here?!
"Ugh, be quiet, some people are trying to sleep—" Himchan pauses in mid-sentence once his eyes land on me. He blinks, and then angles his head to the side slightly, as if studying my features.
And what comes out of his mouth next, doesn’t fail to make my jaw drop in shock.
"Have we...met somewhere, before?"
I’m so confused; he must be joking, right?
