Despite the darkness, I could make out his outline. Lying on the cold ground, the arrow piercing down his lower back. I winced, the sight of his dark blood, a pool underneath his unmoving body.

Mustering up the courage, I approached the dragon, lying in his human form. Although I couldn't make out his features, the darkness wouldn't allow it, I could tell he was male, judging by his built. 

Sensing me, the dragon awoke, his golden eyes piercing right through me. He attacked, attempted to at most, collapsing in result of his injury.

I knew I shouldn't have, it was unorthodox of me, but I pitied him. I felt sorry for him, although I didn't know him; I was sorry.
