Foreword

Chapter 0{ Preface

It happened on a cool autumn evening after a tiring school day.

“Baekhyun! Baekhyun! Wait!” A deep voice echoed behind Baekhyun.

Baekhyun turned around; it was Park Chanyeol on the other side of the road. Baekhyun grinned and waved at Chanyeol.

As Chanyeol was about to cross, a roaring sound of a speeding black BMW car pulsated along the road. The tires screeched on the black tar road. The driver completely losing control of his car, rammed through the guardrail, rode up on the sidewalk, and hit a young school boy. His backpack came off his shoulders and flew into the air, tracing a different trajectory from the boy’s body. The boy landed on the sidewalk before the backpack did, falling on his shoulder. Obstructed by the concrete wall, he slid along the edge of the sidewalk and then stopped still. A puddle of red crimson blood began to surround the boy’s body.

Baekhyun stood in shock, adrenaline throbbing rapidly through his veins, his heartbeat could be heard through his blocked ears.

It all looked like—from the time the car swung off the road and crashed into the boy—as if it was happening in slow motion.

Anyone who was there could tell what was going to happen, but there was nothing anyone could do.

What am I suppose to do? I could turn away and continue to walk home… but where was Chanyeol? Baekhyun thought.

A crowd of people started to surround the injured boy’s body. It was all in pandemonium.

Baekhyun had no other option, he stumbled across the empty road. His eyes were blurring from hot tears, beads of sweat formed on his forehead and his throat was throbbing in pain.

He pushed through the crowd to see the injured boy curled up like an injured animal gasping for air.

In realization, Baekhyun burst in tears of agony.

The boy, who was lying on the ground, was Chanyeol. He was whimpering and gasping for air. He was still alive.

Baekhyun knelt down beside Chanyeol, and whispered in his tears, "Chanyeol-ah, I'm going to save you..."
