Childish

A pregnant pause followed, as he waited patiently for her response, any kind at all. Her face was smooth, void of any expression. She stared at him blankly, and even after a full year of dating, he was still incapable of prying into her thoughts. Thus, he was subjected to waiting meekly, as always. He had asked cutely for her permission to meet her parents, but he hoped that she saw past his playfulness to see a man who was serious about loving her.

When she finally spoke, her tone was incredulous. “Seriously? You’ll, and I quote, ‘joom joom my parents’ heart like a locket?’ Does that even mean anything?” she asked, disbelief layering her voice. “Well, I could say, ‘I’ll convince your parents to like me’ but it’s not original enough!” he argued, unhappy that his well-planned speech went unappreciated. He was certain her parents’ would welcome a happy, adorable son-in-law with open arms, after years of raising a cool, stoic child.

“You’re so corny, Jung Jinyoung.” He pouted in defeat, clearly losing the battle already. It was no use arguing with her, she would always have the last word. She sighed, “Fine. Tomorrow night, six o’ clock. Don’t be late.” His eyes lit up, as he beamed like a child who had woke up on Christmas day. No matter what she said about him (her favorite word was a middle ground between childish and corny), she was defenseless against his aegyo
