If only the sun had a switch

Lights out please~

Lights out please~

He blocked the light from hitting his eyes with both his hands.
Eyes closed, he could feel the torturing pain in his head lift a little as darkness surrounded his vision.
It was unbelievably hot and the sun kept burning down, not a single cloud in the sky that would supply a moment of rest for his burning skin.
He was laying on his bed in the hotel room the sun broke through the window and there was no escaping it.
His body felt too heavy to even move a finger let alone close the shutter to block out the unwelcomed rays.
The air-condition was set on full blast but somehow the breeze of cold air that it blew in his direction made him feel worse instead of better.
The unpleasant sick feeling in his stomach wouldn’t dissolve and he wondered why of all days of the week he had to feel sick on the first beautiful summer day during their short vacation.
It had been raining nonstop the first three days after they had reached the beach in Jeju Island.

Now everyone was hyped by the sudden change in temperature and exposure of the sun and the others were running up and down and left and right from one room to the other gathering various objects they intended to take to the beach.
Youngjae was the only one who was far from being excited.
Basically he felt like he was about to stomp off to the bathroom to clench his hands around the porcelain of the toilette any time soon.
He bend his legs and felt the blood rush through his heavy limbs.
His body seemed to be taken by inner trembles and his head kept spinning.

He could hear the door being opened and dropped his hands from his face.
An ash blonde mob of hair slid through the door and he squinted his eyes to prevent the sun from stinging them as he looked at his friend walking in, wearing baggy blue swim trousers with checked pattern and a slim white tank top.
He looked so ready for summer, sun and beach, Youngjae felt envious.

“Hey.” The other whispered quietly.
“How do you feel?”
Youngjae blocked the sun with his arm again and sighed.
“Like I’ve been run over by a truck.”

Daehyung walked over to the windows and closed the shutters.
A relieved sigh left Youngjaes lips as the bright nuisance vanished and darkness fell upon him.
His lips drew a smile and he peeked out from underneath his arms to look at his friend.
“Thanks” he whispered.

Daehyun smiled back and sat down on the edge of his bed, the mattress swayed a little and it made him dizzy but he refrained from saying anything.
The older boy looked at him, concern showed in his eyes.
“Have you eaten?” a strong note of worry swung in his voice.
Youngjae managed to shake his head lightly.
“Want me to bring you something?”
He shook his head again.

Outside the room everyone was still hectically running around.
He heard the voices mingle in chaos and drawers being opened and shut.
Zelos voice was the loudest when he begged the hyungs to bring all kinds of blow-up toys.
He could clearly imagine Himchan rolling his eyes, though Youngjae was sure he would probably be the one to have the most fun with the toys Zelo brought.
He wanted to tag along so badly.

His eyes wandered to his friend who didn’t show the slightest inclination to get up yet.
“You should join the others.”
Daehyun looked at him then to the door.
“You know they probably won’t wait for you.” He added with a wink.
“It’s ok I wanna stay.” His friend replied, his eyes furrowed and he was obviously thinking.
“Well that is unless you want to be alone. I can go if you want to.” He added.
He didn’t want to keep Daehyun from having fun with everyone just because his body was playing tricks on him.
He thought for a second.

“Stay.” was all he muttered quietly not turning his head to look at his friend.
Daehyun nodded a small smile gracing his lips.
“I’ll let the others know.”
He slid out the room, anxious to close the door behind him quietly.

Youngjaes head kept throbbing.
He heard everyone getting ready.
Heard Himchan yell at the younger ones to help carry all their stuff to the car, he heard Yongguks deep husky laugh, the stomping on the floor, the sound of bags being stuffed in a hurry.
He wanted to join them so badly but the dizziness in his head and his heavy bones reminded him to better stay where he was.

“We’re off!” He heard Yongguks voice ring through the rooms that were connected to each other by wooden doors in thin walls.
The stayed in three rooms, Himchan and Yongguk shared the one in the middle with one door leading to Zelos and Jongups room, the other leading to Daehyuns and his room.
The middle room was actually the smallest because it was connected to a small bathroom, which all of them had to share but it did have the biggest windows and a huge king-size bed.
Youngjae smirked at the fact that the two were sharing a bed; after all they had been almost ripping each other’s heads off not too long ago.
However Himchan had insisted to share the middle room with Yongguk for as he’d put it “prevention” whatever he’d meant by that.
Yongguk hadn’t complained for too long after all he got to spend time with his best friend again and Zelo had encouraged him to do so.
Youngjae was glad they got along again; he had heard them laugh and talk all night yesterday.

When Daehyun snuck back into his room he let his eyes wander to look at the others figure, careful not to move his body at all.
The older was holding a plate with waterlemon slices on it.
He couldn’t help but chuckle a little, big mistake, the small vibration that spread from his belly had him drown in pain again.
“I know you said you don’t want anything but well I thought this might be good? It’s cold and uhm..fresh?” the other stuttered a little and his sentence ended up as questions.
He rubbed his neck uneasily.
Youngjae smiled at him.
“That’s sweet thanks.” He closed his eyes again and heard Daehyun placing the plate on the nightstand before he sat down next to him once more.

“You’re not feeling better?”
“Unfortunately not.” He sighed and turned his head to look at his friend, his lips curved into a pout.
“And I really wanted to go swimming with you guys.”
“We can always go next time.” Daehyun said with an encouraging smile.

Youngjae furrowed; his lips still pouty, he wasn’t happy with “next time”.
It was their first real vacation and who knew what the weather gods held in hand, it might be raining cats and dogs tomorrow again.
He’d promised Zelo to go banana boat riding with him and he’d wanted to have a diving match with Jongup and watch Himchan and Yongguck battle about who was able to hold his breath longer.
Even more important he’d wanted to spend time with Daehyun at the beach, just lying in the sand watching the waves roll on and off, breathing the salty air into his lungs with Daehyun by his side.
Now he couldn’t even imagine taking one breath of salty air the pure thought of its taste on his tongue made his tummy turn.
A little grumbling noise passed his lips and he was sure he looked like a little kid, well a little kind with adult headaches.
Daehyun smiled at him again, a gentle and tender smile.

He saw his friend lift his hand and followed its movement until it passed his range of vision.
He felt cold fingertips softly brushing over his temple and closed his eyes.
The feeling of Daehyuns cold skin on his was incredibly comfortable.
He took a deep nasal breath; made sure to do it consciously, feeling the cool air filling his lungs until they were completely filled before exhaling just as consciously again.
His chest rose and sank quietly and for a second his headaches vanished.
A pleasant smile drew on his lips as Daehyungs fingers brushed off a few strands of hair from his forehead.
The cool fingertips caressed his temples again, gently and softly then grazed over his hairline lightly.
Youngjae drowned in the pleasure that came from the others delicate touch as the pain in his head seemed to decrease.
Daehyuns hand covered his forehead; his fingertips kept moving just slightly as the cold of his palm sank through his skin.
“My mom used to do this when I was sick. Does it help?”
Youngjae only managed to hum in response.
It didn’t take the pain away, not completely but it was so much more bearably with the bit of skin contact.
“I wish I could help somehow.” The older boy sighed disappointed.
“You’re here that’s enough.” Youngjae replied and nestled his head into the others touch.

The air-condition kept buzzing as silence filled the room.
Daehyun kept his head ran his fingers through his hair and back over his face, gently caressing his cheek with the back of his hand once in a while.
Youngjae forgot about the sick feeling in his stomach as it was taken over by something else.
A comfortable, warm feeling spread from his chest and replaced more and more of his unpleasant feeling as it worked its way through his body.
His belly started to flutter at the touch of his friend and pleasant sighs escaped his lips.
He was sure there was a purring sound coming from his throat.

“Isn’t it tiring to keep sitting there?”
He looked up to his friend who’d been sitting like that for a while, constantly his head; his arm had to be tired by now.
“I..I donno.” Daehyun replied halting his movement.
Youngjae shifted a little on the bed, making space for Daehyun to lie down next to him.

When Daehyun crawled next to him and lay down he shifted closer, they knees bumped together and Youngjae unceremoniously threw one leg over his friends to lie comfortably again.

Daehyun chuckled a little and Youngjaes lips drew a playful pout before they curved into a smile.

The others healing hand found its way to his head again and his fingers started to twist some strands of his hair before they resumed their gentle movement.
Youngjae closed his eyes and the purring in his throat returned as he savored the touch.

Daehyun kept running his fingers over his temples, down over his jawline.
They were so close their noses almost touched and breath mingled in front of their faces.

He could smell Daehyuns scent, the fresh note of soap and a hint of lemon from his shower gel.
It was a pleasant scent, one that actually was more calming than disturbing for his body and it wouldn’t make his belly turn.
He looked at his friend, scanning his handsome features.
Daehyungs eyes fluttered open and he looked back at him.
They kept staring into each others eyes like that for a while and Youngjae felt his heart throb evenly in his chest as the last remains of pain vanished from his body.
Daehyungs fingers brushed one of his strands behind his ear and the cool tips brushed over the sensitive spot close to his earlobe.
Youngjae shuttered lightly and closed his eyes for a second before locking them with Daehyuns again.

He leaned forward just a little and their noses touched.
Daehyun chuckled at the fact and Yongjae raised his head a little, tilting it to the side as he lifted it off the pillow.
His lips grazed over his friends cheek softly but firm enough to show how grateful he was for having Daehyun by his side.
He dropped his head back on the softness of the pillow and looked at him.
The other met his eyes, his cheeks slightly blushed, the thin outlines of a smile forming on his lips.
Youngjae smiled at his friend.
“Thank you.” He mumbled before he closed his eyes again and snuggled into the others body.

He was right.

They could still go to the beach next time.

Chapter 1: This was just what I needed. This was so delicate & sweet & loving & adorable that I actually texted my bestfriend, telling her I wanted her to get sick so I could take care of her like Dae did for Jae. This really warmed my heart over. I mean, I could see it as DaeJae, but I see it as just them being all BFF. This just really made me feel so fuzzy inside & it was so nice. I could really see this happening between them in real life & I just loved this. It was kind of like your moment fics & that made me love it that much more. DaeJae really has such a heartwarming relationship & this was such a heartwarming fic. Thank you for writing it!
