Chapter 4

“Where would you like to visit today?”

“I'm fine with any place”

She really didn’t mind, as long as she was with him. 
It was his presence that made her feel safe, and it was through him she was able to see the world.

Having known exactly what he reply would be, Young Saeng brought her out 
for lunch, just like what most couples would do on their first date. 

And he had bought tickets for a piano recital after that, something he thought she 
would enjoy.

Ji Eun smiled and clapped along with the audience as the pianist finished the final piece. 
She thought it was really sweet of him to have thought of bringing her to a recital where 
they could just relax and enjoy the good music.

“Oppa, komawo”

“Pabo, why are you saying this?”

“I never thought I‘d be able to come out like this”

“Mwoh?”

“Do I really have to say it out loud?”

She mumbled with a pout on her face which made him smile. 
It was her first date, something she wouldn’t have dared to dream of before.

She didn’t have to say it out, for he already read what was going on in her mind.

“You know what?”

Pulling her close, he then whispered into her ears. 
Something he never thought would have happened either, but it just did.

“You're also my first”

“Really?”

Young Saeng put his finger over her lips and a smile formed soon after. 
Ji Eun found it hard to believe, that someone like him never had a girlfriend till then. 

He had been on several arranged dates before, but he wouldn’t call them dates. 
They were merely business to him. Or rather business for his parents.

But Ji Eun was special. 
So special that he wanted to always be around with her, and for her.

“Happy Valentine's Day”

Young Saeng gave Ji Eun a quick peck on her face after handing a bouquet 
of roses to her. Today also marked their first month together as a couple.

“Roses?”

Ji Eun asked as she held the flowers close to her nose. 
Young Saeng on the other hand was beginning to get worried.

“De. Red roses. You don't like them? 
Do you prefer sunflowers? Tulips? Or lilies? Shall I get another”

“Oppa! Anni, I like them, komawo”

Feeling a sense of relief after hearing her assurance, he took her by the 
hand and headed towards the restaurant for dinner.

“Oppa, I have something for you too”

“You made them yourself?”

Young Saeng asked as he removed the wrapper and found a pair of gloves. 

“De, but I'm not sure if they'll fit…”

She couldn’t think of any thing else to get for him as he easily could have gotten 
anything he wanted.

So she decided on something that he could use, and knitted a pair of gloves for him.

“Komawo. Aren’t you going to put them on for me?”

Ji Eun smiled as she carefully placed his hands into the gloves and found that they 
fitted perfectly.

As much as they didn’t want to, the day had to come to an end before it got too late.

Standing by the little alley at the side of her house for a moment before sending 
her in, Young Saeng held her in his embrace before proceeding to end off the 
day with a kiss. 

Their moment however, was soon interrupted by a familiar voice which didn't 
sound too pleased.

“What do you think you are doing?”

“Omma, appa…”

They broke away from their kiss to find her parents who had just returned from a walk 
standing by the gate. Her mother motioned for her dad to bring Ji Eun into the house 
while she remained outside with Young Saeng, who was filled with worry and remorse.

“Young Saeng ah, do you know what you're doing?”

“Mianhae ajumma, I should have seeked your consent”

“You know the condition my daughter is in. I don’t know if it’s just out of pity or perhaps”

“No, I really love her”

“I don't want her to be a burden to anyone else. And you should know it's impossible between you”

“She's not. If it's about my parents I'm sure something can be done…”

“Just… don't come any more”
