Chapter 1: Game on.

“Mi Sun~” Miyoung whined to her friend. They were at Miyoung’s house with four other friends, Kyungmi, Sujung, Minji and Jihyun. They all attended the same university and were on exam blocks so they had a lot of free time. “Get me food~!” she pouted. Miyoung sat on a chair but her friend was on the bed and she wasn’t bothered to get up so she stretched her leg all the way to bed and kicked Mi Sun lightly on the arm.

“Yah!” exclaimed Mi Sun kicking Miyoung’s leg away from her. “Don’t be lazy, now focus!”

“I’m too lazy~ Kyungmi unnie~ can you get me something? Pleeeaaaseee~~” Miyoung pouted. Kyungmi scoffed.

“Not very lady-like, Miyoung-,” said Kyungmi. Miyoung pouted before standing up and stomping all the way down the stairs and into kitchen like a child. She groaned lazily and stomped all the way upstairs and to her bedroom.

“WE HAVE NO FOOD!” Miyoung screamed and stomped like a child. Sujung stood up and put a hand on Miyoung’s shoulder.

“We’ll get you something now if you be quiet and focus on the assignment,” said Sujung before she went on a tantrum.

‘How will she ever find a boyfriend…’ Jihyun thought while looking a Miyoung weirdly. They ordered fried chicken and Miyoung was finally satisfied stuffing the chicken down . The girls stared at her, like it wasn’t much of a surprise, but they still did.

“Miyoung ah… do you have any sense of manners?” asked Jihyun. Miyoung glared at her before swallowing.

“Haven’t you heard of the English saying? You only live once,” said Miyoung.

“Well you can pig out in the afterlife.  Around this time you should be finding a boyfriend,” said Sujung. Miyoung swallowed loudly again getting everyone’s attention.

“I’m sorry guys. How about we play a game of basketball tomorrow? I will feel fat after I eat all of this,” Miyoung suggested. “The court is only a few streets down here.” Everyone exchanged looks then back to the crazy girl casually eating chicken. They grouped up and left Miyoung in her seat.

“Yah, why is she so casual about this?” asked Mi Sun.

“She’s going off-topic, we need to focus on the assignment,” said Kyungmi. “This assignment is very important, 25% of our grade. We cannot fail because of her.”

“Don’t be so negative guys, besides, basketball seems fun,” said Sujung. “She’s an OP1 student, no need to worry.”

“True, besides, we’re her best friends and we should have some fun,” said Minji.

‘Dammit, it’s 4v2… ugh…’ thought Kyungmi.

“Fine!” exclaimed Kyungmi quietly. They all separated and continued working.

“Junho~! Junho~! Junho~! Lee Junho~!” a whole crowd chanted in a club surrounding a boy in his early twenties. He was dancing some freestyle and his friend, Wooyoung, had a hat in his hand going around asking for money to see more.

“YOU WANNA SEE SOME MORE JUNHO?” shouted Wooyoung right after Junho took a drink of water.

“YEAH!” chanted the crowd.

“Well, we’re sorry but that is all for today, thank you~! Okay, bye everyone!” announced Wooyoung. Junho chuckled at his mc-ing skills. Everyone made a faint “aw” sound and the crowd slowly disappeared. In the corner, Wooyoung and Junho joined their friends, Junsu, Nickhun, Taecyeon and Chansung.

“That was mad, Junho!” said Junsu bumping fists.

“I think this entertainment show is a great way of getting money man!” said Wooyoung happily. There was a messy pile of money inside Wooyoung’s hat and he handed it to Junho. “All yours, you deserve it.”

“You know you should let us join, we can prepare a dance for you daily audience,” Taecyeon teased, playfully hitting Junho’s shoulder. They stayed at the club and chatted for a while.

“Man, I really need to take a break from work. Tomorrow’s my day off since a whole month,” said Chansung.

“Why don’t we go play basketball then? I haven’t played that in ages, probably since I actually got a job in that restaurant,” said Nickhun.

“Yeah, what’s it called again? Hot, Real and Fresh? I went there two months ago, never going back,” said Wooyoung.

“Why?” asked Nickhun bitterly. “It’s a 5-star restaurant.”

“The food there almost burned my mouth! The chilli food goes to the max, I almost died!” exclaimed Wooyoung exaggerating a bit.

“Well there’s a park with half a basketball court near my house, we can play there tomorrow,” said Junho. Everyone agreed and later they all left the club.

“Chansung ah! Don’t get too excited!” shouted Junho to Chansung who was 30 metres in front of them. He couldn’t help but feel so running and bouncing the ball.

“Hyung! Hurry up! We’ll play 2 hours!” shouted Chansung not even caring what others thought about him acting like a child. When they got to the court, they started off by letting everyone stretch out and shoot calmly.

“Junho yah, look at this!” said Wooyoung. Junho payed attention to Wooyoung running up to the hoop. He slowed down when he got closer and eventually stopped right under the hoop and threw the ball up so the net went inside-out. Everyone laughed, even Wooyoung didn’t expect this outcome.

“What are you doing Wooyoung hyung?” asked Junho in between chuckles.

“I’ll do a dunk!” said Taecyeon. Taecyeon ran up to the hoop and jumped really high, although Wooyoung was right in front of him and poked his stomach. Taecyeon who was shocked, kicked Wooyoung in the neck and they both fell back. Everyone laughed at them.

“Wooyoung ah, why?!” exclaimed Taecyeon, although laughing as well.

“Karma’s a …” muttered Wooyoung pouting. Nickhun helped up Taecyeon and Junsu helped up Wooyoung.

They decided their teams; Wooyoung, Junho and Chansung vs Nickhun, Taecyeon and Junsu. Right before they started playing, six girls came towards them. They all exchanged looks before the middle girl with the ball coughed.

“Umm… can we please play on this court?” she asked politely. They all kept silent and there was awkwardness in the atmosphere. After a few moments, the girl beside her spoke.

“I’m guessing… no?” she asked in a hopeful tone. Wooyoung gave Junho the ‘what-should-we-say-this-is-so-awkward’ look. Junho gave him back the ‘how-should-I-know’ look.

“My name is Miyoung,” the middle girl again spoke putting out her hand to Junho who had the ball. “Seo Miyoung.”

 “Mi Sun!” said the girl at the back cheerfully.

“Minji!” said the girl beside Mi Sun.

“Kyungmi,” said the girl beside Miyoung in a lazy tone. Miyoung nudged her.

“Jihyun!” said the girl who put her arm around Miyoung’s shoulder.

“Sujung! Maknae~!” said the girl next to Minji with an eye smile. Taecyeon whispered to Nickhun and chuckled.

“Taecyeonnie!” said Taecyeon in a cute voice.

“Nickhunnie!” said Nickhun imitating a girl voice. Junsu smiled and joined in.

“Junsu~!” said Junsu making a peace sign.

“Wooyoungie!” said Wooyoung.

“Chansung! Maknae~!” said Chansung. Junho couldn’t help but pull an eye smile at the rest of them. Junho threw the ball at the hoop. He showed off his skills making a three-pointer.

“Junho. Lee Junho,” said Junho in a seducing voice.

“Show-off…” muttered Miyoung glaring at him.

“What? What did you say?” asked Junho as if Miyoung was a child.

‘What a troll…hmph!’ thought Miyoung.

“Just let us play on the court!” demanded Miyoung.

“Feisty…” said Junho and winked while biting his bottom lip. She rolled her eyes, and was really irritated. He smirked in signal to stop playing with her. “Alright then. How about we have a match? Whoever wins gets the court for a month, if you love playing here so much.”

Junho looked at Wooyoung who gave him the ‘why-did-you-say-that’ look. Junho shrugged his shoulders and pouted, then returned to Miyoung’s death stare.

“When did I say I -“ Miyoung stopped in mid-sentence. ‘If we get the court for a month then we can play here whenever we want!’ thought Miyoung. The other girls exchanged anxious looks.

“… well?” asked Junho. Miyoung thought for a bit longer until she finally spoke.

“Game on.”
