There Was Nothing More

This Song

As she entered the club, the click of her expensive stiletto heels matched with the beat of the music. Her beige blazer was covering the top part of her extravagant black sequined dress. She was mad. No, scratch that, she was furious. Her boyfriend didn't show up to their date and made her look stupid in public. She stood at the clubs' balcony with one hand on the black swirled railing. She scanned the entire club with eyes like a hawk.

"He's here. I know it," she mumbled to herself.

She went to the bar and ordered the most expensive champagne that was available. Then she heard it.

His laugh.

She could recognize it anywhere. In a room full of people or a mile away. She could recognize his laugh. After all, that was what made her fall in love with him.

She took her drink and thanked the bartender and then followed the laugh. She pushed her was through the crowd earning glares from them, but she just casually walked on by. As she walked towards the luxurious leather lounge seats the laughter became louder.

No this can’t be happening again.

She stopped in her tracks. She saw him with a girl sitting on his lap and his arms around her waist. Then he leaned in for a kiss.

*Clink*

She had heard dropped her champagne glass and the girl heard it.

“Jin Young Oppa~ what was that?” The girl asked.

Jin Young Oppa’ she scoffed in her head

Oh? Is that?” She noticed that the girl saw her so she turned around as quickly as she can and left behind her drink on the polished lit up glass floor.

“What is it Kahi-ah~” Jin Young asked.

“I thought I saw Ga In”

“Mwo? Ga In?” He looked around but he was already too late. Ga In was already lost in the crowd.

With her head hung low and just mindlessly walking around the streets at night by herself; a couple of guys spotted her but hadn’t noticed. Ga In was still in denial. She didn’t believe what her eyes saw. She didn’t want to believe what they saw. Ga In had been walking for nearly 5 minutes with the guys still trailing behind her. As one of them was about to approach her, an arm wrapped around her.

Oh.. Yeobo. There you are. I’ve been looking for you,” the guy said with an eye smile.

Ga In was scared. She was panicking. ‘What should I do?’ she asked in her head.

The guy saw the scared look on her face and slyly pointed at the group of guys behind her who were now hiding.

Oh. Yes.Yeo..bo.. I was looking for you.” Ga In said while only understanding the dangerous situation she was in. Her panic disappeared as she looked into his calm brown eyes.

Come inside. I’m next.

He led her to an old, small yet cozy underground cafe. It was filled with many people considering the time and a small stage at the front with broken down lights at the ceiling. The stage had it all: piano, stools, microphones, and everything.
As she walked down the small scratched wooden stairs, she saw letters written on napkins, pictures, and instruments were hung everywhere on the wall. There were old and new pictures of couples, musicians, children, everyone. The letters on the napkins were love letters, phone numbers, names, dates, and sometimes even contained drawings.
She was amazed. She’s never seen anything like it before. She was fascinated because she’s never been into any other buildings that was either high class or elaborate. Oh how predictable every place she went to was. The abstract structures with top of the line furniture and glass windows. She was getting sick and tired of it. Was every regular cafe like this? She was about to ask the guy from outside when she found out that he was nowhere to be seen. She noticed an empty seat towards the back and sat there.

Oh.. Isn’t that,” she said to herself as the guy from outside walk on to the small stage and to the piano. Then three other guys walked on to the stage while one was holding a guitar.

Hello. Most of you probably know us by now but I’m Jo Kwon.
“Jinwoon”
“Seulong”
“And I’m Chang Min. We’ll be singing for you tonight.” After their introduction the audience went wild.

The applause died down and Jinwoon began to play the guitar while Jo Kwon played the piano.

Jo Kwon. So that’s your name. It’s nice.’ Ga In thought to herself.

They began to sing and she was amazed at how talented the four where. They’re voices matched well with each other and their harmonization was perfect. The song comforted her. It made her feel warm and safe. But then she realized that it wasn’t the song that comforted her. It was his voice.

The voice that didn’t match the eye smile. The voice that sounded so different. So mature. So beautiful.

Ga In saw Jo Kwon playing the piano and sing. He was completely immersed into the song. You could tell that he was giving everything, all of his emotions, into the song. Ga in couldn’t help but smile. She hadn’t smiled for about a month now, so why is she smiling now?

I’ve never felt this way… Even with Jin Young. I never once felt truly happy. He’s not even rich.  He’s not even cute. Well.. I guess he sort of is. Oh no.. Could I be fa-
She was cut off in her train of thoughts when the waitress asked if she wanted anything. She ordered her favorite, coffee, and the waitress bowed and left.
While seeing the waitress’ back she was sent to a flashback.

Hello? Jin Young Oppa?” Ga In asked through her phone.

“Oh.. Ga In-ah. Where are you?

Mianhae oppa, but I think I’m going to be late. I’m on my wa-

“Oh It’s okay Ga In-ah. Come whenever you van.”

Oh.. Araso. Saran-" He had hung up before she could finish her sentence.

As she reached the top floor of the building she walked towards the restaurant. While walking she heard a laugh, his laugh. But it was coming from the storage room.
She peeked into the cracks of the slightly open door and saw the back of a waitress making out with him. Ga In’s boyfriend. The one she truly loved. Or thought she loved.

No. This can’t be happening.” She thought with wide eyes. “That’s a lie. That’s not him. It can’t be.” And with that, she denied everything.

After five minutes he went back to the table and found Ga In seated. She was close to tears. She had a desperate look on her face. As the waitress approached Ga In broke the silence

Oppa. Saranghae,” Ga In said earning a glare from the same waitress that was with Jin Young.

Jin Young didn’t say anything but just smiled causing the waitress to smirk.

Before she knew it, Ga In began to cry. Tears started flowing and she couldn’t stop them.
Jo Kwon noticed Ga In crying and felt a stinging pain in his chest. It was as if he was connected to her.

For the most of the performance he only kept his eyes on her. Watching her. Wondering why she was like this. Who caused this beautiful woman this pain? But the he wondered why he was acting like this. He usually hates rich people. He thought that they just cassually throw around their money and buy more and more expensive things.

Could it be?” He thought. “Am I falling for her? She's completely out of my league. Just look at her!

His band members seemed to notice that Jo Kwon was staring at someone. The three gave each other a look and one of them pointed with their head to Ga In’s way. Throughout the entire song Jo Kwon kept looking at Ga In who was still crying. And the three kept alternating glances between Jo Kwon to Ga In.

The song came to an end and the lights had dimmed. The audience busted into applause and the lights turned back on. Jo Kwon looked at the seat in which he had been looking for the past three minutes and was shocked to find it empty.

On the other hand, Ga In was outside already walking. Her tears have slowed down but they still haven’t stopped. She was still thinking about Jin Young.

We didn’t truly love each other. We.. used each other. There was nothing more.” And with that in mind she finally decided what to do.
