“look at me, I also failed a couple of times but after a few tries I finally made one. See?”

“nice choice! This is the first ever paper crane that I made!”

“really? It's really cute. Seems like it stands out among the rest.”

“here, take it.”

“you’re really giving it to me?”

“yep. Keep that arasseo?”

“why?”

“did you know that if a guy makes 1000 paper cranes for a girl, then it is a sign of true love?”

“really? Why is that so?”

“I don’t know. But for me, making paper cranes is really like love. they are all different from one another, one can be perfect, the other one can be no. it requires patience, hardwork and understanding on how will you fold it so you can make the best out of the rest.”

“oh. Wait, you said 1000 paper cranes right? Then why are you giving me only one?”

“because I’ll give you the other 999 after I come back.”

“come back? Come back from where?”

“hye sun-ah, we’re going to the states.”

“what? but I thought we are going to stay together forever??”

“there are things that we need to take care of hye sun-ah. I promise, I will come back.”

“promises are made to be broken”

you pouted and faced the floor.

“but not by me, remember that.”

“really?”

“of course. Pinky-promise”

“pinky-promise”

"i'll wait for you. come back okay?"

"promise"

 

After 15 years (20 yrs old)

During that 15 years of waiting, we kept in touch with each other through text, or call, or chat.

But after 15 years, he stopped.

I knew that this day would come, I thought to myself.

What am I expecting? That he wont be looking at any other girl? Impossible.

Move on jung hye sun.

But moving on for me was really hard.

I just can’t throw away that special friendship we had.

I really miss him.

And even if it's like this, I still hope that one day, it will change.

 

 

After 4 years without communication (24 years old)

“ma’am, you have a meeting at 8:00, at the seoul hotel, at the swimming pool in building B.”

"swimming pool? is he athletic or something.?"

"i really dont know ma'am. but it's his secretary that will be meeting with you."

"what's the name of the boss?"

"im sorry ma'am but i dont know."

"then, what company are they in?"

"they are from The Plaza Hotel. they said that they want to have an agreement on something."if that's the case, then i have to go now. its already 7 and that hotel is quite far here. thank you. you can go now."

"yes ma'am."

 

-hye sun's assistant's POV-

"yoboseyo? neh, i understand. she is going to the hotel now sir. good luck! fighting!"

this guy is really cheesy hehehehe.

i already arrived at the hotel.

now i need to go to the swimming pool.

i asked where the swimming pool of building B is then went straight ahead.

better earlier than late.

the pool was normal. nothing weird or extra ordinary.

no one is there yet.

but the whole place was designed with white bright tiny winy lights.

so beautiful.

then at the other side of the pool, there's a tablr for two.

"what us this, a date? hehehehe"

i went near the table and saw..............

origami papers...

so many origami papers. but none of them are folded.

since you cant count it anymore, i decided to get one.

maybe he wont notice.

i still waited a bit for him.

when i got bored, i just started folding the origami paper.

i made a paper crane.

paper crane is the only thing i know in paper folding, that was taught by.....by taemin.

i suddenly felt sad.

 

 

"you surey practiced making one didn't you?"

a voice said from behind.

i turned to look but the first thing i saw was paper cranes all over the place: hung in the trees, floating in the pool, and scattered on the grass.

the lights just made it pefect.

"beautiful isn't it?"

"ye---taemin?!!???"

"hello hye sun-ah. long time no see."

he said with a big smile.

i miss that smile!!

he came closer.

"yah, we havent seen each other for such long long time and no hug?"

"its really you!!!"

i gave him a hug.

"of course its me!! how are you?"

"fine, must have been better if you're here. dis you make all of these paper cranes?"

"yep!! wahh! you really kept your promise!!"

"aigooo! you missed me didnt you? i missed you too!"

another hug.

"are you the assistant?"

"of course not! actually, i'm his boss. kkk^^"

"cheongmal? what's your work?"

"my family owns the plaza hotel."

"really?why didn't i know that?"

"oh, maybe because you were busy.shall we sit down first?

"of course."

he offered me a sit.

upon sitting down, i really cant take my eyes off him, so i stared at him.

"yah, why are you looking at me like that? im melting"

"its just that, i cant believe that you're here, in front of me, now."

"well you have to, coz i wont be leavinv again."

"what do you mean?"

"im staying here for good."

"really?"

"yes"

then he raised his hand and snapped it 2 times.

a waiter came in a suit.

"he's my secretary."

"oh, hello"

then he placed food in front of us

"this is too much! can we finish all of these?"

"of course we can!!"

 

~after eating~

"shall we dance?"

he said and offered his hand.

i just smiled, took his hand and stood up.

we went beside the pool, the grass part, then a slow music played.

i was a bit awkward so he placed my hands on his shoulders and he placed his hands on my waist.

"so what made you decide to stay here?" i asked

"uhmm, just a couple of things."

"you know, you have really grown a lot."

"you too!"

"with these good looks, i suppose you already have a girlfriend."

"girlfriend? no!! i never had a girlfriend!"

"cheongmal? why is that so?"

"because i know someone is waiting for me."

he said then smiled.

"how about you? do you have a boyfriend?"

"of course not!"

"wae?" 

"coz im waiting for someone"

he smiled again.

cheeziness much.

"hye sun-ah, i want to give you this."

we stopped dancing, then he gave me a white envelope with formal white flower designs on it.

"what's this?"  i asked.

"my wedding invitation."

my whole world stopped.

my heart shattered into pieces.

so i waited for nothing?

"you are getting married?"

"yes."

my eyes started to tear up.

"yah, why are you crying?"

"tears of joy. chukkahae!"

i said and turned around to wipe my tears. then i faced him again as i opened the envelope.

"thanks for inviting me to your we--"

i brought out the card, then suddenly, something fell.

i looked and saw that it was a ring!

i picked it up.

"oh sorry. kkk"

i opened the card and saw:

"what's this?"

"how can you not be invited if you're the bride?"

my eyes widened

"me? bride?"

"yes"

he said and took the ring.

he kneeled down.

"hye sun-ah, will you marry me?"

i'm so happy so i cried even more.

thrgn i nodded.

"cheongmal?"

he stood up then gave me a warm and tight hug.

"close your eyes" he said.

"another surprise?"

you'll be very surprised."

so i closed my eyes.

whats he up to this time? i thought.

suddenly i felt something warm on my lip.

i was really surprised.

but then i found myalf kissing him back.

" i love you"

he said in the middle of the kiss.

"i love you too" i replied, then i felt that a smile formed on his lips.

then he raised his hand and snapped it again.

"look" he said, pointing at the clear night sky.

i looked and saw heart-shaped colorful fireworks.

"is this the reason why you were not keeping in touch for the past 4 years?"

"yes kkk sorry bout that. i really wanted to surprise you."

"well, good job. i was really surprised. thank you"

then i tiptoed to reach him and gave him another kiss
