What Is Love To A Machine?
‘Homoual Relationships’
I was sitting on the couch on my laptop, on google doing some…research. Tao was at school so I found this as a perfect opportunity to look up some things about our relationship before it got any more technical. My eyes scanned the first four results that popped up. ‘Are gay relationships different?’, ‘Same- relationship’, ’Homouality’, ’Comparing the lifestyles of homoual couples to married couples’. I bury my hand in my face and sigh. This is beyond embarrassing. I looked up at my screen again and clicked the first link on the page.
The first thing that caught my eye made my stomach turn. There was a small picture of a person sitting with a photograph of two men sitting next to each other but the picture wasn’t the problem. It was the little blurb underneath it. ‘The author and his partner in 2003. Many assume that gay men are worse at maintaining relationships. That's partly true.’ I hope that part doesn’t include Tao and I. Trying my best to ignore it, I scanned the text underneath. The man went on about breaking up and I quickly clicked the back button on my browser. The last thing I want is negativity even though what this man says might be true. Maybe I should look up something else… like… I felt my face heat up from just the thought of what Tao and I would possibly be doing… in the bedroom.
I heard the door swing open and I quickly shut my laptop and tossed it on the other side of the couch. “Gege?” I look back to see Tao tilting his head and holding the straps of his book bag with both his hands. “Oh, hey Tao.” He smiles while he takes off his bag then runs over to me and throws himself onto the couch. I slide so my back against the armrest and swing one of my legs over Tao’s head, getting comfortable. Tao slides down a little and lies down between my legs, while he rests his head on
