Portraits
Passion
Jongdae
At night I am a painter, during the day I unload cement trucks. I started mentioning the night first because that is my favorite part of the day, I don't like tearing my ligaments or deviating my spine carrying half my weight in repetitions of up to a hundred times a day. It's a nightmare.
I make portraits in watercolor, I draw in pencil on white cardboard. Each graphite portrait takes me 5 sleepless nights, each work of watercolor art requires more creativity than time.
During the day I think about what I will do during the night, and I try to come up with many ideas, but it is difficult for me. When they scold me I just disconnect from my earthly body, I let myself go. I stare into space until the storm has passed, and it is safe to return home.
People ask me for discounts, barter, or simply charity. And when they have money they throw it into another fountain. While I stay dry, and I must be the one who opens the tap and allows my dreams to continue flowing.
It is discouraging not to have anyone else, and to lose so many nights of sleep in vain. I walk blindly.
