When he asked me if he could date you, I said yes.

When he asked if he should propose to you, I said yes.

When he asked me to be his best man, I said yes.

I couldn’t say no to him, I had to prove I was over you. The moment we broke up I realized how I would never find anyone that could

compare to you. There would be no one else that knew my deepest, darkest secrets and wishes. Only you knew them, only you knew

every single thing about me.

When I heard that you had yes to his proposal, I almost broke down. You came up to me, completely excited. We hadn’t talked in a long

time, but you still hugged me and with a smile told me how he asked you to marry him.

I remember when we were little kids. We used to play Husband and Wife, and your stuffed animals would be our kids. You would walk

around with your pillow case as a veil and I used my dad’s bow tie. Minhyun would pretend that he was the preacher and read a ‘sermon’

from an upside down Corduroy book.

Then I met him in high school. We were together by then but, I could just feel you slipping away from me. It got to be too much didn’t it?

We broke up and he was there to comfort you. Over the years you and I lost touch, but he would always talk about you.

I guess that’s why I agreed to be his best man. So I could see you again. I wanted you to see me and deep inside somewhere you would

realize that that spark was still there. But no. I could tell they were gone when I saw you and him smiling at the rehearsal dinner. It looks

like you were really in love with him, you were happy.

“Aaron~” You sang in my ear.

I blinked and turned around. There you were, in your wedding dress. It hurt. I always believed that it would be you and I that would be

the ones getting married.

“Yeah?” I smiled.

“Thank you.” you spoke, “For being the best man.”

From those simple words I knew I had to let you go. I had to move on, no matter how bittersweet it felt. You had found someone other

than me that made you happy. As much as it hurt me, I wished nothing bad on your marriage, I hope it lasted forever. You deserved

nothing but the best, and unfortunately I can’t be the one to give it to you.

“No problem.” I smiled, “You look beautiful _______.” I hugged you tightly.

“Thanks.” you mumbled.

The pianist began playing and we broke apart. “I should go stand by your future husband.” I looked out into the church. “See you out

there.”

I was about to walk in but felt your hand on my wrist.

“What’s wrong?” I whispered.

You smiled and kissed my cheek. I chuckled, “Promise you won’t forget me?”

I held out my pinky, “Promise.” you giggled.

“Aaron!” Baekho called out, “Hurry! We’re supposed to be up there!”

“I’m coming!” I rolled his eyes.

I turned back to face you, “Gotta go!”

I watched as you and him exchanged vows. “Jonghyun, do you accept ______ as your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, from

this day forward, for better or worse, for richer, or poorer, in sickness and in health, as long as you both shall live?”

“I do.” he answered with a smile.

“Do you ______, take Jonghyun as your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better or worse, for

richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, as long as you both shall live?”

I gave you a wink when you glanced at me. It’s okay, I’ll be fine.

“I do.” you looked into his eyes.

“I now pronounce you husband and wife, you may kiss the bride.”

I clapped along with everyone else. The smile I saw on your face made it all better. Even if I didn’t end up with you, I was sure that I

would find someone just as good as you. We weren’t meant to be, but it’s not over for me just yet.
