Chapter 4

He felt a sense of relief and a sense of purpose. Now, it felt like things were looking up for him. He just had to play his little game of chess really well. It was slightly thrilling. To have such power and background. He felt some relief because he was getting really fed up with being looked down upon. He never forgot who he really was, but he knew better than to just blab about that. He was told that at a quite young age. Tell who you trust and keep your circle tight. 

Looking at his watch it was almost time for dinner. He checked his phones for any messages and he received one from his wife. Opening it up, a slight frown spread upon his face. 

[From: Tiffany] 
I’m so sorry, but I have to stay at work late. 
I’m sorry to leave you alone for dinner tonight. 

Heaving out a sigh, he sent a quick respond back. 

[To: Tiffany] 
It’s okay. Don’t stay working too late. 
Make sure you eat. 

At least that gave him more time to continue to finish a few more errands. Making a turn down the street, Taeyeon headed to the heart of the city. Walking straight to the most magnificent hotel in the middle of Seoul Hills. When he got near it, a smile of pleasure spread across his lips. 

The hotel was quite tall and looked marvelous from the outside. It was gated and it was sitting on a hill. This particular hotel was always the talk of the town. It was an exclusive hotel and not just anyone of the public could just go in. The land around the hotel was also for sale for some redevelopment and with 11:11 buying the land and the hotel, it would create more amenities for guests and potential guest homes for the public. 

Walking to the hotel, Taeyeon couldn’t help but marvel over the marble walls and floors. Just seeing the decorations and the minor accents gave up a luxurious look. As he continued through the lobby a young lad possibly a few years younger than him had jogged after him and stopped him. 

“Hi sir, My name is Pyo Jihoon, P.O for short. I’m the front desk attendant here at Hotel del Luna,” the young man had said bowing respectfully from Taeyeon. 

Taeyeon raised an eyebrow in amusement. Another desk attendant stopping him, but this one was more respectful. He smiled to himself. 

“I would like to make a reservation,” Taeyeon smiled politely. 

P.O nodded his head. “Do you have a membership here or a letter of recommendation?” 

“I unfortunately do not…” 

“I see, unfortunately you need to have a membership to our hotel or a letter of recommendation. Maybe I can get my General Manager and see if she can lead you to a better direction?” P.O suggested leading Taeyeon to a waiting area. 

“That would be fantastic,” Taeyeon smiled as he followed him to some tables. He was quite pleased by this young lad. Such respect even to those who he has never met. 

The wait took a little longer than he would like, but he understood since it was the general manager they were calling for. As he sat, he continued to look around the lavish lobby. It was beautiful and quite grand. 

“Yah! You better have a very good reason for interrupting me during my business meeting!” A short young woman came walking down the curved and grand staircase. She was dressed elegantly and looked angry. 

Taeyeon witnessed P.O swallow hard but tried to keep his composer as his boss came barreling towards him. He stood straight before doing a small bow. “Miss Lee,” 

“What is the meaning of this?” 

“Sorry Miss Lee, but someone needs your help. He wants to make a reservation…” 

The young lady stern look before turning towards the man he was talking to. Making slow steps towards Taeyeon, she eyed him up and down. She furrowed her brows at how he was dressed. Too casual. 

“May I know whom you may be to interrupt my business meeting? If you may know, I’m in a middle of a huge acquisition deal” 

Taeyeon smirked catching her off guard, “I am the new owner of Hotel del Luna” 

She scoffed lightly and looked at him not believing a word he was saying, “You’re kidding me right?”

Taeyeon couldn’t be mad at her attitude towards him. She has never met him and knows nothing about him. He was also just wearing casual attire. Ultimately, he may have came in a little earlier than he should have since he was coming in in the middle of their acquisition deal. 

“I suggest you call Kim Heechul and tell him a Kim Taeyeon is with you at the moment” 

Blinking in surprise, Miss Lee pulled out her phone and dialed Kim Heechul. 

“Hello Miss Lee. Were you able to handle the issue?” 

Clearing she said. “Mr. Kim, I have a Kim Taeyeon with me. He claims he’s the new owner of Hotel del Luna-“ 

“That is young Master Kim!” Heechul said with surprise. “I didn’t expect him to show up there today. He must be there for something else,” 

Miss Lee’s mouth opened in surprise. Her head snapped to look at Kim Taeyeon. “I-I’m sorry M-Master Ki-“ 

Taeyeon quickly held a finger up to his lip. “My identity must not be revealed. Can we talk in your office” 

“Absolutely, follow me this way” Miss Lee said showing Taeyeon the way. “Thank you P.O” she quickly whispered. 

“Thank you P.O” smiled Taeyeon patting his shoulder. “You did a great job” 

P.O quickly smiled and bowed at ninety degrees. 

As the two walked up the stairs Taeyeon started a conversation. 

“Beautiful lobby,” he commented. 

Miss Lee smiled and nodded, “Yes, it was designed to lift the elegance of the hotel since Hotel del Luna is exclusively members only” 

“An invite only type of membership?” 

Miss Lee nodded and continued to explain, “Yes, someone amongst the members must recommend a person to become a member. However the person recommending must be of at least platinum status. And two platinum status members must recommend the same person for them to be allowed in” 

Taeyeon looked surprised. A very exclusive hotel this was. Perfect for someone like him. Taeyeon couldn’t help but smirk, “Well since I’m now the owner of the hotel, what does that leave with me?” 

Miss Lee looked surprised. The previous owners barely ever came by, so she didn’t know. She thought for a second and snapped her fingers, “I guess we would just have to create a new membership status but that is not open for the public?” 

As they entered Miss Lee’s office, Taeyeon couldn’t help but to look around the room. It was quite extravagant and very lady like. Suited someone who looked as elegant as Miss Lee. As he walked towards her desk, she saw the name plate on her desk. Lee Jieun - General Manager it said. 

“Your name is Lee Jieun?” Taeyeon said. 

This caught Miss Lee by surprise. “Yes M-Master Kim. Please feel free to speak casually with me” she said taking a seat at her desk. 

“Jieun-shi, before we get into the specifics of things. I would like to know more of the person who will be the person in charge of running my hotel” Taeyeon said eagerly to learn more. It was the truth, no ill intentions, just wanted to know more of his high positioned staff members. 

Clearing she said, “Master Kim, as mentioned my name is Lee Jieun and I am the General Manager of this hotel. I have been working here for the past few years and I run a very tight ship and I take good care of the hotel’s reputation and brand. I deal with issues on my own and I am not afraid to set my foot down” she said confidently. 

Taeyeon couldn’t help but nod his head as he listened to her, “Perfect. I like it, and I am glad that I have you as the General Manager of Hotel del Luna. I believe you will continue to help keep this hotel thriving. I will speak with Heechul of giving you a salary raise for your loyalty and to keep my identity from being known by the members and from anything you hold control over” 

A salary raise?! Oh heck yes! Jieun quickly thought. “Yes Master Kim, anything for you” 

Standing on his feet, Taeyeon began to walk around the office space observing his surroundings. “As for the newest level of membership, all inclusive paid for by me is only given out by me and me only. Heechul will bring up the contract soon and we will be renovating as well as buying surrounding land for a bigger resort. In one of those renovations I would like a portion of it that is private for only myself and those whom I invite into the area. I will let you decide the best location fit as you know this area well. I will go over more details with you and Heechul soon” 

Jieun was writing down everything that Taeyeon had just said. While he spoke she was already thinking of possible ideas. She wanted to make sure that she stayed in Master Kim’s good side. There was no room for error. 

“Shall I bring out a glass of champagne to celebrate this beautiful partnership?” Jieun asked to bring up the joyous occasion. 

“Sure, why not? My family won’t be home till late anyways” Taeyeon smiled. 

The young lady walked towards the cabinet and pulled out two champagne glasses and opened up a bottle of champagne. Quickly pouring out the drinks, Jieun went and handed him a glass. They gently clinked glasses before taking a sip. 

“To partnership!” Smiled Taeyeon. 

“To partnerships” Jieun repeated back. 

“Do you have a second in command? Especially for days you are off?” 

Jieun smiled, “Yes I do. His name is Yeo Jingoo”

Taeyeon nodded, “Okay good, please disclose all this to him. He musn’t break my trust. 

“He won’t. I wouldn’t let him,” Jieun smiled with a slight smirk. 

Setting his finished champagne down he bid his goodbyes before walking out of the hotel. He didn’t get to accomplish what he wanted to do, but at least he had met another ally. Getting onto his Uber, he rode home. It was already ten thirty in the night, and he hoped that he would at least make it home before anyone got there. 

Driving into his neighborhood, they turned the corner and reached his house at the end of the block. He let out a sigh of relief that the lights were still off at home. Parking his bike, he headed inside with a sigh. It felt good to be home. 

Walking up the stairs, Taeyeon headed straight to his room and got ready for bed. After he had finish showering, Tiffany had come home from work. Taeyeon had walked out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around his body while Tiffany stepped into the room. Seeing each other surprised one another. 

“Holy Sh-“ 

Quickly covering her eyes Tiffany mumbled, “I’m so sorry!” 

Quickly grabbing his change of clothes, Taeyeon ran back into the bathroom to get changed. He slowly came out, trying to hide his face. His ears were bright red from embarrassment. While Tiffany couldn’t help but try to use her hair to hide the blush from her cheeks. 

“H-How was work?” Taeyeon stuttered trying to break the silence. 

While Tiffany was rubbing her make up off she said, “It was okay. We had a meeting at work because 11:11 and Hotel del Luna had announced their acquisition. They are taking in bids to help renovate the hotel. Grandma wants us to come up with a pitch. I know Siwon wants to pitch the idea” she couldn’t help but sigh. 

The odds were definitely not in her favor. Her grandmother would most definitely choose to ask Siwon to pitch the idea. She ran her fingers through her hair as she looked a little dejected. 

Taeyeon leaned against Tiffany’s bed frame and smiled softly, “I think, you should just go to 11:!1 yourself and pitch your own idea” 

Tiffany’s eyes widen as she looked at Taeyeon like he was crazy, “Are you crazy?! Me just showing up at 11:11 without a prior appointment from our family company?!” 

Taeyeon shrugged, “I don’t know how business things work, I am a live-in son-in-law” half true half lie Taeyeon thought. 

“Taeyeon, what would happen if my grandmother finds out I went against her wishes and went to pitch the idea and it goes sour?” 

“Then Siwon can come in and save the day. But I think if you came back from meeting with 11:11 with a contract, you’ll show it in all their faces how good of an architecture and interior designer you are” he said it with confidence. It made Tiffany really want to believe him. But she was skeptical. Her husband did say he doesn’t know how business things work. 

Biting her lower lip, she looked down. “I don’t know Taeyeon… Grandma already hates our family, I don’t want to make things worse for all of us” 

Taeyeon shook his head, “Trust me my dear. You should go into 11:11 first thing in the morning with a proposal” 

“Without an appointment?” 

Taeyeon couldn’t help but smirk, “I think they’ll let you in. Besides you are still part of the Hwang Group. Might as well just go and check it out yourself” 

“And if they refuse to see me?” 

“Just say you’re just checking the place out,” Taeyeon shrugged. 

In theory it sounded like a good idea right? But wouldn’t she lose face if she went and did that behind her grandmother’s back. However… what could she lose from doing it? The Hwang family already looked down on her family… her dad, her mom, herself, and her husband. If she was able to go get that deal first, wouldn’t they have to be thankful towards her? 

Tiffany thought for a bit before looking at Taeyeon, “Will you help me think of a business proposal?” 

Taeyeon smiled genuinely and nodded his head. “Of course, I can’t let my degree go to waste right?” 

The couple chuckled. “You’re right,” responded Tiffany. 

Grabbing her work bag, Tiffany began pulling out portfolios and her laptop. Taeyeon saw how tattered his wife’s bag was becoming. He made a mental note to go shopping tomorrow. His wife did deserve nothing but the best and he was going to give it all for her. 

“I’ll look through these if you don’t mind?” Taeyeon started to say, “How about you get washed up and we can think of a game plan?” 

Running her fingers through her long brown locks his wife nodded in I agreement. “Okay, I’ll try to be fast” 

Her husband smiled warmly, “Don’t worry take your time. I wouldn’t mind pulling an all-nighter with you” 

His words caused her cheeks to turn a shade of pink. Quickly grabbing her house clothes, she slipped into their bathroom and got ready to take a shower. 

As Tiffany slipped into the bathroom, Taeyeon pulled out his phone and started to text Kim Heechul, the co-chairman of his company. 

[To: Heechul]
My wife, Stephanie Hwang will be coming in sometime tomorrow. 
I’ve convinced her to show up herself. Please take care of it yourself. 
I’m counting on you

It didn’t take long for Heechul to respond to his text message. 

[From: Heechul]
No worries Master Kim. I will take great care of her.
