Our Universe Aligns

Today's astral configuration encourages you to make the most of a wonderful opportunity. If there is someone out there whom you know is secretly fond of you, and of whom you, too, have a great deal of affection, then use this cosmic influence to the maximum to arrange a meeting of some kind, even if you have to bump into them accidentally on purpose. It will be worth it!

Minjeong shifted her gaze towards a certain red-haired girl who was occupying the empty spot beside her. A soft sigh escaped as she noticed how focused the girl was on her phone screen, carefully listening to a Spotify horoscope podcast.

“Ning Yizhuo, did you even study for the Math test today? You've been listening to the same podcast for half an hour already. It's getting pretty annoying,” Minjeong uttered with a huff. Unfortunately, the red-haired girl was just too fed up with listening that she just shrugged as a reply.

Minjeong gently brushed the strands of her blonde hair, fixing it after being blown away by the air conditioner inside the bus. It will still be a long ride before they reach their university so she just decided to plug the airpods inside her ears and sleep the annoying feeling away.

Another thirty boring minutes have passed before Minjeong was awakened by the same red-haired girl sitting beside her. The bus instantly stopped in front of a prestigious university and the blonde couldn't help but to stare at the marbled entrance, a huge 'Yonsei University' written in gold was placed beside the main gate.

Their first day in college already started a week ago but Minjeong still couldn't help but to admire how fancy-looking the whole school was. If it weren't for her hundred percent scholarship grant, she wouldn't be able to experience stepping inside the premises of Yonsei. Minjeong constantly thanked her brains for it.

Of course, she also wanted to thank Yizhuo because of her family's strong connections. Yizhuo's father was the one who entered Minjeong on that Mathematics and Sciences contest because the man knew that the blonde definitely had the potential. It was no surprise that Minjeong won that contest because she was known to be the top performing student in her old school.

“It's the perfect day today, unnie. I'm a hundred percent sure Aeri's going to notice me now,” Yizhuo exclaimed as soon as they got off the bus. The younger was hugging her phone and Minjeong noticed that the Spotify horoscope podcast was still playing.

The blonde could only roll her eyes.

“You've been telling the same thing since last year. You constantly visited the café that Aeri's family owns but she never noticed your existence. You enrolled yourself in this university because you thought she would notice you. But did we get any interactions?”

Yizhuo pursed her lips to form a small pout. She placed her phone back inside her backpack and faced the blonde with a disheartened look.

“I trust my horoscope readings. I'm a hundred percent sure that this day would be it. Aeri's going to finally notice me and I am confident that it will happen. So calm your grumpy down and watch the universe and the stars align for the both of us,” Yizhuo stated with a soft giggle.

Again, another eye roll was what the red-haired girl received from the blonde. Minjeong still doesn't understand why some people believe in fortune telling and horoscope readings. Some of her friends even use their zodiac signs for compatibility results towards the people they like. If their signs don't fit, they'd immediately look for other potential crushes.

It was really weird for Minjeong yet she had no choice but to be the supportive friend that she is.

“By the way, you're coming with us to the opening of the fair tomorrow right? Don't even say no, Kim Minjeong.”

“I'm gonna be studying so no, I'm not coming with you. Ryujin and Yeji will be with you anyway so I'm pretty sure you won't feel alone.”

The two girls entered their classroom and were welcomed by warm greetings from their classmates. One thing that Minjeong loved about the class she's in was how nice and approachable everyone is.

“Oh come on, Minjeong unnie. Give yourself a break and have fun! It has only been a week since our classes started and you're already getting this worked up,” Yizhuo replied before taking the empty seat beside the blonde.

“Ning Yizhuo, I'm not getting worked up. I just care about my grades and the scholarship that was given to me. You know how college works, right? It's way more different than high school. You have to work hard if you want to pass.”

Yizhuo shrugged.

“It's impossible for you to lose your scholarship. Didn't the head tell you that you're one of those students who have shown them really high grades when we emailed our college requirements? You really don't have to worry about failing because that was never included in your vocabulary. You're Kim Minjeong and you never fail.”

Minjeong stayed silent.

“So, are you coming with us to the fair or are you coming with us to the fair? You only have two choices,” Yizhuo continued with a sly grin.

“Do I even have other choices? Of course not. You're the Ning Yizhuo from Harbin and you never take nos for an answer.” Minjeong sighed, already feeling so stressed. “Fine, I'll go with you guys. But I'm not allowed to come home late. My mom's going to kill me.”

“Who said anything about your mom killing you? I already sent her a text this morning and she said it's fine if you come home late. We just have to make sure that we bring you home safely. Sounds fun, isn't it?”

Minjeong face-palmed. Yizhuo surely has a lot of power that even the blonde's strict mother agreed to the idea. She was about to reply when their professor entered the classroom, the chattering of the students immediately disappeared when the man placed his laptop on the desk.

“Alright, is everyone ready for the test?” The instructor asked, making the other students whine.

“The only student that is ready here is Minjeong,” one of their classmates uttered, earning a laugh from everyone inside the room.

“Well, you guys should take Miss Kim as your inspiration. She's definitely working so hard and I'm sure you can do that as well. I see the potential in all of the students here, you just have to strive harder. Let's begin, shall we?”

Once the papers were already distributed, all of the students started answering. They were given enough time to finish solving all of the equations and Minjeong couldn't help but to feel proud of herself for finishing the test earlier than the due time. She placed the cap of her pen back before silently reviewing her answers, smiling in satisfaction when she realized that all of her answers were correct. The math formula that she memorized last night and on her way to school was still stuck inside her head so she was confident enough to receive a high score on the test.

“Mr. Choi, I'm all done with mine.” Minjeong stood up her seat and gave her paper to the instructor. The man just gave her an encouraging smile.

“Thank you and congratulations in advance, Miss Kim. You can go back to your seat. We'll be waiting for your classmates to be finished with their tests.”

Yizhuo gave Minjeong an approving look and a thumbs up as soon as she got back from her seat. The blonde couldn't help but to softly giggle at how supportive her best friend was.

“Last fifteen minutes! Make sure to box or highlight your final answers, everyone.”

The blonde's attention was placed somewhere else. Since Minjeong was sitting beside the window, she just decided to stare outside and watch the students outside their classroom. Some were studying and reviewing their notes while some are just chatting to pass the time.

Suddenly, a beautiful and tall raven-haired girl entered the classroom with a stern look on her face and Minjeong was quick enough to divert her attention towards the said girl. She cleared before formally speaking in front of the class.

“A pleasant morning to all of the students of Class 1-A. I am here to formally introduce myself and the members of our party list.”

After a few seconds, three other students entered the classroom and the only girls that Minjeong recognized were Yizhuo's long-time crush, Aeri Uchinaga and Hwang Yeji, one of Yizhuo's friends.

Their professor then signaled the raven-haired girl to continue with her speech.

“My name is Yoo Jimin and I am taking architecture as my major. I am a sophomore and for everyone's knowing, I will be running for the position of the student council president on the upcoming elections. I am also here to introduce the members of AE party list.”

Jimin cleared and Minjeong was also quick enough to notice that bump on the student's throat. The blonde couldn't help but to feel fluttery towards the sight.

“This is Aeri Uchinaga and I am pretty sure you guys know her already. She is the captain of the cheerleading squad, entered the list of the top performing students, and of course, she will be running as the vice president.”

Minjeong took a quick glance at her best friend. She was right, Ning Yizhuo was indeed blushing so hard. The blonde just hoped that the red-haired girl wouldn't be too obvious because it would definitely be so embarrassing for her if Aeri catches her staring like that.

“This girl over here is Hwang Yeji. She is placed as the third on the list of the top performing students in this university and she will be running for the position of the council secretary.”

The cat-eyed girl whom Jimin introduced immediately gave a slight bow, earning a round of applause from the other students inside the room. Minjeong couldn't help but to gawk at how beautiful the girl was.

Still, Jimin's beauty was unmatched.. at least for the blonde.

The last girl that Jimin introduced was a bit smaller than the other three. She had the brightest smile out of all the candidates.

“And last but not definitely not the least, Choi Jisu. She is one of the model students in this university and she will be running as the auditor of the council.”

Everyone stayed silent.

Everyone but Minjeong's annoying classmate, Haechan.

“How about you, Miss Yoo? Why didn't you introduce any of your achievements or positions to us? We're very curious about it. Unless, you haven't got any?” The boy said with a sly smirk, earning a gasp from everyone inside the room. Even their instructor went speechless.

Jimin seemed to be calm and composed though. If Minjeong was on her position, she'd definitely feel pissed.

“I do not see the need to share my achievements to the audience unless otherwise needed. My only aim is to share the platforms that we have created for the betterment of this university and to persuade all of the students that we can help with the good changes. I did not run for presidency just to boast, but since it seems like you are requiring me to do it, then I'd gladly answer your question.”

The other candidates stared at Jimin with a knowing look. Nobody inside the room was able to read the raven-haired girl's expressions. She spoke calmly, stood with such a good posture, and even showed a small smile before finishing her words.

“Let me introduce myself again for your beloved classmate to hear, 1-A.”

Minjeong gulped.

Jimin surely is scary.

“My name is Yoo Jimin, a sophomore, and I am taking architecture as my major. I ranked first on Yonsei University's top performing students with a GPA of 4.25 and received the title as the student with the highest GPA out of all the students who studied here. I will be running for the position of the student council president on the upcoming elections.”

The raven-haired girl gave Haechan a quick glance. The boy was already pale white, surely embarrassed because of what he just did.

Noticing the growing tension inside the classroom, the professor loudly cleared his throat before walking in front. Jimin just flashed another smile before walking back to  her position.

“Alright, students. Now that AE party list members have already introduced themselves to you, I hope you would all get yourselves ready for the upcoming elections. Make sure to vote wisely!”

The candidates bowed as a sign of respect before slowly leaving the classroom. Minjeong's eyes followed the raven-haired girl's figure until it disappeared. The blonde couldn't help but to feel a slight admiration towards her.

She's definitely the real definition of perfection, Minjeong thought to herself.

“Damn, Aries women are really something.” Yizhuo scooted closer to Minjeong after passing her test paper. The blonde flinched at the sudden contact.

“What are you talking about?”

“Yoo Jimin senior's sign, she's an Aries. I heard our classmates talking about it earlier while she was speaking to Haechan. Aries women snap like that to shut people up– my cousin does the same.”

Minjeong just rolled her eyes.

“Here you go again with those ridiculous horoscopes. Let's just go and grab something to eat. That exam starved the heck out of me,” Minjeong uttered before pulling her best friend out of the classroom.

But there was one person who got stuck inside the blonde's head.

Yoo Jimin.

Why do I suddenly find you so interesting?
