Description
Kerry loves her boyfriend Mir a lot, and she knows he loves ehr too... but lately he doesn't show it anymore. She decides to sneak out of his house one night, and as she wonders around the empty street, she comes across a bar called "Estrella" , the spanish of her nickname that Mir gave her. Absentmindedly she walks in, and meets the person who will help her.
Foreword
Dear Mir,
When you wake up the next morning and notice that I am not sleeping next to you, I’m sure you will be a little surprised... at least I hope you will. Will you worry? ...I don't even know anymore... I know I told you last night that I would forgive you but I guess... I can’t forgive you after all... Last night you went too far with your carelessness. Either that or I’m being really childish...? I've gotten tired of putting up with you acting so nonchalant all the time, and I think it’s time for us to take a break... I really hope you’ll understand that I don't want to actually break up. I just think we should spend some time apart from each other...? You already know that I love you, (very much). . . but I hope that after a small break, you’ll come to realize your feelings for me too... Do you really feel the same way as I do? I’m sorry. I know that tomorrow is our one year anniversary since our first date but still... I don't feel comfortable when you don't seem to even care about me anymore... Anyway, just in case you’re wondering; I’m moving back to my old apartment. Sorry to leave so sudden.
I love you, and I’ll miss you...
Your star, Keri.
Quietly placing the letter she just wrote, beside her sleeping boyfriend, Kerry snook out of his room and out of his house.
Remembering the times when her and Mir felt truly happy together, Kerry almost felt a tear run down her cheek. Never had she thought that she would ever find herself walking along an empty street in the middle of the night, away from the man she loved. The thought that her and Mir could become so distant... again... never even crossed her mind before.
"Estrella..." she voiced as she read the sign on top of a bar. "Why is this bar called Star in Spanish? Is it mocking me?" Kerry thought about the time when she received the nickname Star from Mir.
"Kerry you're like a star," Mir said thoughtfully looking at Kerry as she looked away and pulled the grass around her absentmindedly. "You're so close to me, yet your heart is so far away." That suddenly got Kerry's attention, and she turned to him.
"I'm sorry Mir... Even though you're here with me right now, I can't forget him." Kerry spoke quietly hugging her knees.
"Should I build a spaceship?" Mir suddenly spoke, changing the topic from Kerry's ex boyfriend, to something completely random. Kerry felt grateful for that, and found herself even smiling.
"Huh?"
"In order to get closer to my star, I'll need a spaceship right?"
Kerry couldn't help but let out a giggle at his interesting logic. Mir smiled at that. He was happy he managed to bring a smile to her face. Not just a smile but to even make her laugh, even if just for a brief moment.
"Stop being so cheesy Mir, you're giving me goosebumps." Kerry said slapping Mir's shoulder playfully.
"Ok... But really," Mir said placing his hand on Kerry's softly. "In order to have my star closer to me, I would do anything to make her mine."
I miss that Mir from back then so much... why couldn't he remain that way?
Absentmindedly, Kerry walked into the bar, and sat down at the counter.
It wasn't until she had sat down at the counter that she realized she had no money with her. Cursing quietly she asked for a glass of water instead.
"No!! Get her one of those awesome yummy apple thingy drinks," someone said beside her.
The bartender sighed deeply and asked. "A martini?"
"Ye~~that." the woman said. She was obviously a bit drunk. "I'll pay for it."
"Um, no. dont worry! You don't have to!" Kerry tried to tell her not to treat her, but the drunk woman glared at her.
"If I was the emotional wreck you are now, then I would do anything for anyone to get me a drink." she said smiling lightly at Kerry, but she still had that fierce and confident expression.
She seemed like a very classy woman, but to be drinking here like this...?
"Heeyoung, and you are?" she asked.
Kerry stared for a while until realizing what she meant. "Oh, uh, Kerry."
"Kerry has relationship problems in the evening before Christmas day.... That ." she mumbled and bottomed her drink. She was having the same thing as she had asked for Kerry; an apple martini.
"yeah...wait. How do you know?"
"your face." Heeyoung caressed Kerry's cheek softly. "it gives it all away darling."
"well... I guess..." Kerry sighed drinking the martini the bartender had brought her.
"wanna talk about it ?"
Even though Kerry didn't really want to even think about it at all, words just started escaping her lips and she confessed everything she had on her mind to the stranger she just met.
"Tomorrow is our first anniversary since our first date. I asked Mir.. Ah.. My boyfriend, if we could spend the whole day together tomorrow but he dismissed the thought and just told me he had already made plans." Kerry summarized their whole fight in just one sentence because she didn't feel like bothering her new friend with her problems. "I love him, but I hate that sometimes he just doesn't care at all. Does he even love me at all anymore?"
"I was in an unrequited love once," Heeyoung interrupted. "I loved him very much. I gave my everything to make him notice me more. To care for me more. But knowing he didn't care at all. He acted cold. He told me not to expect much from him. It broke my heart."
"I'm sorry that you had a relationship that didn't go well in the end." Kerry said after Heeyoung paused for a sec. "but that's not the same as my situation. Mir does love me. I know it." she said drinking another glass that was placed in front of her.
"I never said it was the same." Heeyoung said. "and I never said the relationship didn't work out." She gave a smile, “But still... your situation might really be the same after all. Who knows?”
Kerry looked at Heeyoung, confusion evident in her face. Heeyoung smirked and held out her hand to show her a gold ring around one of her fingers.
"That man and I... we're married now."
"H..how?" Kerry asked.
Why would anyone marry anyone if they didn't both have mutual feelings?
"Men are all the same, darling." Heeyoung said maturely and chuckling a little. Why did she suddenly seem sober? She was obviously drunk a while ago. Or is that because I'm also getting a little drunk? "It's because they love you so much that they don't know how to, or are afraid to show you it."
"What are you saying?" Kerry asked.
"Your Mir..." Heeyoung took Kerry's hand in hers, "you said you know he loves you... then you should just continue staying by his side without whining, or you can whine if you want... 'cause he shouldn't stop loving you just because you whine..."
"I don't whine." you clarified and let her continue.
Heeyoung chuckled a little and nodded. "Just wait for him. He'll tell you when he feels like it. Don't loose your faith in him."
"I never did. It's just..." Kerry couldn't even say anything. It all made perfect sense.
Deep in her thoughts, Kerry didn't even notice when the scene had changed and she was already back in front of Mir's house. Heeyoung, holding her hand nudged her a little to snap her out of her thoughts.
"So this is his house?" she mused. "I lived here once."
"Huh? Really?"
"Kinda nostalgic this whole thing is." she mumbled and smiled at Kerry. "You know what to do, so go on ahead."
"I will.,, Thank you Heeyoung." she smiled.
Quietly sneaking back into Mir's room, Kerry sighed in relief as she noticed the letter was still on her pillow, untouched. That means Mir hasn't seen it yet.
Quietly snatching it and and going to the kitchen, Kerry disposed of it and then snook back into the bedroom.
Cautiously, she went under the blanket and made herself comfortable beside Mir.
“I really should try and understand you better... I promise to continue to be your shining star...” Kerry whispered inaudibly as she carefully, slid her hand around Mir. “But you have to promise to try and keep me close...”
“I promise,” a reply came to Kerry, from Mir's lips and Kerry opened her eyes wide, to see Mir looking at her with a sleepy but loving expression. “But you have to promise you won't leave me in the middle of the night just because of a silly fight, to go to a pub and drink apple martini's with a woman you don't even know.” he smirked, when he saw Kerry's expression.
“H..how did you..?” Kerry was cut off by Mir's face coming closer to hers, and closing the gap between their lips.
“Goodnight, my shining star... I hope I've reached you now.”
“Yeah...” Kerry said quietly, snuggling close to Mir as he wrapped his arms around her, and pulled her closer. “You have already...but don't forget to keep me close... Goodnight.”
THE END.
Lol, how did Mir know about the apple martinis and the strange woman (me), that she met? :P
Is it weird that this oneshot was inspired by an old episode of Tom and Jerry ? X
Can any one figure out which episode it was? Mouse in manhattan is the name anyway XD
