Hyukjae sighed in disappointment as he glumly stared at the note that was taped onto the fridge.

 

He had hurried home after his photoshoot despite his utter exhaustion, excited to finally spend some alone time with his boyfriend and maybe go out for dinner. But he had entered an empty apartment with no Donghae.

 

After staring at the front door hoping that his lover would magically appear in front of him, Hyukjae trudged back to their shared bedroom to take a long relaxing shower and change into a pair of comfortable sweats, removing all of his makeup, all the while muttering curses at Kyuhyun for taking his Donghae to god knows where, because he missed the other a lot and Donghae made his entire day better by just being present in the room.

 

Hyukjae gloomily looked around the very Donghae-less room, sighing for the nth time that day.

 

The blue haired model thought that even their home seemed to be weeping for the loss of his lover.

 

Hyukjae scoffed at how dramatic he was being but at the same time he couldn’t help but yearn for the warm and loving presence of his boyfriend. And he wasn’t even the clingy one in their relationship!

 

It’s just that it’s been a long couple of weeks, with him being away on his photoshoots and Donghae being busy with the renovations of his cafe, Haru&Oneday, that they had barely had any time to spend together. Now that they were both finally free of their schedules, Cho Kyuhyun, the devil himself, had just waltzed in and kidnapped his boyfriend.

 

Yes. Hyukjae definitely had the right to be upset about this.

 

After all, Kyuhyun had his own boyfriend. Where the hell was Sungmin anyway? Why did he need Donghae for his evil schemes?

 

If Kyuhyun hadn’t been such a good friend of both Donghae and Hyukjae (and if the younger was not so famous for holding grudges) Hyukjae would’ve demanded that the game addict return his lover.

 

Maybe he should call Leeteuk and whine about it?

 

But no, the older was too busy these days being the nation’s top MC, appearing on practically every tv channel. 

 

Hyukjae lazily sprawled across the sofa in his living room, his phone in his hand, going through his social media pages hoping that it’ll keep him occupied till Donghae shows up.

 

A fond smile graced his features when he saw a post that Donghae had put up in the morning.

The blue haired model chuckled softly as his boyfriend’s love for coffee and his little cafe in Seoul shone through in most of his posts.

 

Unlike Hyukjae who had decided his career only after he finished high school, Donghae had always wanted to be the owner of a coffee shop ever since he was a child. His boyfriend had meticulously saved up all through high school and college, finally being able to achieve his dreams after graduating.

 

And both Donghae and Hyukjae were so proud of the little coffee shop, which was not extravagant or luxurious but rather comfy and warm. It was like a second home to both of them.

 

The blue haired model scrolled through his boyfriend’s posts stopping at one particular picture that Donghae had posted months ago when they went to France together.

He smiled as he stared lovingly at the mussed up hair and sleepy face of his boyfriend, who was posing against the balcony of their hotel room in Paris. 

 

It was Hyukjae who had taken the picture. 

 

They had both been so exhausted from their flight that they had fallen asleep as soon as they had entered their room. But when they did finally wake up, Donghae had insisted that he should have his photo taken ranting on about aesthetic scenery and of course Hyukjae was too in love to ever protest against his boyfriend’s cute demands.

 

Hyukjae spent a few more minutes scrolling through his social media pages, resting one hand beneath his head as he lay on the sofa. He clicked lazily on a notification he just received.

Heechul was both a good friend and a fellow model who had worked with Hyukjae on several occasions. He supposed that the older man was more of a role model to him. Heechul was known for being an androgynous diva and a trouble maker by the public, but only those who was close to him knew about how loyal and fiercely protective he was of the people he cared about.

 

And Hyukjae should feel flattered that he was actually in that list of people; given that it was mostly due to the fact that Heechul absolutely adored his boyfriend. (I mean who wouldn’t.)

 

While Donghae may not be a celebrity himself, he had a lot of friends who where famous. Donghae’s honest loving personality made him so well liked around Hyukjae’s close colleagues that the model had declared numerous times to take their hands and eyes away from his gorgeous boyfriend much to the amusement of his friends.

 

Because Donghae was his, thank you very much.

 

Hyukjae sighed as he put his phone down on the sofa beside him, closing his eyes.

 

He missed Donghae.

 

And it wasn’t like the other had disappeared from his life completely and eloped with Kyuhyun or anything (or there would be a murderous judo-chopping bunny creating a massacre across the country.) No, his boyfriend had simply stepped out for a bit to spend some time with his friend.

 

Or gotten kidnapped by the said friend.

 

Same thing.

 

But it had been a rather tiring and tedious day at work, as they prepared for Glimmers, an exclusive fashion gala, arguably the biggest event of the year. And Hyukjae had gotten many stinging remarks from stressed photographers who kept insulting everything from his ‘horrendous’ face to his ‘skinny’ body.

 

The blue haired model knew that those harsh words were just a part of his job and the industry he worked in, but those photoshoots always drained him emotionally leaving his ego at an all time low.

 

That’s why he yearned for the presence of his Donghae so much, at that moment.

 

Because he knew that no matter how ugly he was or how many wrinkles he’d get from old age, the brunette would stick by his side through thick and thin since Donghae loved him for who he was and not the face was plastered across magazines labeling him as an ethereal ice sculpture.

 

To this day, Donghae was one of the only people that the blue haired model could be his dorky strawberry milk loving self with, without the fear of being judged.

 

Hyukjae sighed tiredly, getting up from the sofa, walking towards the kitchen his phone clasped in his hand.

 

He might as well do something useful instead of drowning himself in negative thoughts while he waited for Donghae. The model opened the fridge, taking a packet of fresh strawberries before washing them and putting them in a bowl.

 

He positioned his phone on the counter, opening up an application before smiling at the camera as he started one of his infamous YouTube lives.

 

Hyukjae waved at the camera, smiling as comments instantly came flooding in, his Jewels rushing to greet him.

Hyukjae chuckled softly as he read through the inquisitive comments of his fans. 

 

He supposed that he should be grateful that his Jewels he accepted the love of his life so easily. It was hard to maintain relationships in the industry but it it was especially hard to date someone of the same gender.

 

But the blue haired model had been incredibly stubborn when it came to his relationship, willing to sacrifice anything if it meant that he could keep Donghae by his side. Maybe that was what won over the admiration of the public.

 

Donghae however, had been weary of the public’s opinion and had tried to shy away from the spotlight, hence none of the Jewels ever coming to know of his identity. Hyukjae had respected his boyfriend’s decision but had also told him that the model was happy to publicly announce their names whenever the brunette was ready to.

“Trust me guys, kindergarten bullies are vicious. They were all bigger and stronger than me, and they stole my strawberry milk. I was terrified and I really wanted to cry, but I just stood there frozen when they smashed my milk on the floor. I was internally screaming for the teachers to notice but they weren’t looking my way, and I was panicking because I didn’t know what to do when this other kid suddenly launched himself at the bullies.”

 

“And I watched in horror because he was much tinier than me and so adorable, he still his by the way, adorable not really tiny anymore, and I thought that the mean bullies would crush him.” Hyukjae laughed, the once traumatic situation turning into nothing but a fond memory over time. “But to my surprise, he stood in front of me and bawled his eyes out, crying so loudly that the teachers came rushing in thinking he was being murdered or something.”

 

“And then he explained to the teachers that the bullies were being mean to me, hiccuping adorably, staring at them with his sad kicked puppy expression that no one can resist. The teachers punished the bullies and then he just turned to me and gave me an avocado, pouting while saying that he didn’t have strawberry milk to replace my one but if I wanted we could share his avocado.”

 

“That’s the moment I fell heads over heels in love with my cute crybaby savior!” The blue haired model finished, a bright gummy smile gracing his face.

“You guys know that my rise to fame wasn’t the easiest.” Hyukjae smiled at the camera, his excitement sobering a bit. “To be honest at the start, I was so insecure about my looks that I couldn’t even stand to look at myself. My modeling career was rough at first, and I kept taking all the insults and the criticism of the public to heart. There were so many days that I cried myself to sleep, think that I wasn’t good enough, wondering what on earth I was thinking becoming a model.”

 

“During those times, my boyfriend was there to reassure me that it was okay to have flaws. That it was okay to be imperfect. I suppose that the fact he kept repeating that I’ll always be the most beautiful in his eyes was what kept me going through it all.”

 

“I guess over the years I gained more confidence and finally figured my life out.” Hyukjae said softly. “But I’ll always remember that he was the only person who told me I was beautiful, that I was worth it, when the entire world begged to differ.”

“Thank you for all the love guys.” The blue haired model said, playing with the hem his his plain white shirt.

 

He was about to speak more about Glimmers and the annual gala, when the front door suddenly opened and his boyfriend spontaneously bursted in.

 

What left Hyukjae utterly bewildered was the fact that Donghae’s long brunette locks had been cut short and dyed into a light lavender color!

 

He was also wearing a pink scarf on his head like a bow!

 

The blue haired model’s heart flipped in his chest when he took in the image of his beautiful boyfriend in a baby pink turtle neck, with lavender hair and a cute bow tied on his head.

 

Although he didn’t have much time to process what was happening before Donghae launched himself at the sofa, laying down haphazardly while burying his head in the soft cushions.

 

“Ignore me!” A muffled yell sounded from the sofa. “I’ll get it fixed tomorrow.”

 

The blue haired model gaped at his boyfriend, who suddenly looked more huggable and so precious that Hyukjae just wanted to wrap him up in blankets and cuddle him for the rest of eternity.

 

“Hae? Why is your hair purple?” Hyukjae asked hesitantly, resisting the urge to smother the adorable creature in kisses.

 

A distressed whimper answered him.

 

“I’m never ever hanging out with Kyuhyun and Heechul hyung again!” The former brunette announced weakly, his head still buried in the pillows. 

 

“They made you dye your hair?” The blue haired model was still confused.

 

His gaze flickered to his phone screen, wincing slightly when he realized that the Jewels were going crazy with all the comments.

 

“Hyukkie, let’s run away to a different country, change our names and start over.” The cute embarrassed whine came from the man who was still hiding his face.

 

“Why?You look adorable with the new hair!” 

 

The model couldn’t help but tease.

 

“It’s not that Hyukkie.” Donghae shook his head frantically, his muffled voiced distressed. “Kyuhyun found out something embarrassing! And he’s going to tell everyone!”

 

“He did?” The blue haired model’s brows furrowed in confusion.

 

He wasn’t really sure where Donghae was going with all of this. The blue haired model took his phone, which was still live streaming, from the kitchen counter, walking towards the sofa while making sure that the camera was only focused on the model’s face.

 

“You remember when I dyed my hair ginger back in high school because you kept paying more attention to your puppy than me and I was jealous of Choco, and I went to the hairdresser and demanded for my hair to dyed the color of Choco’s fur because I thought it’ll make you love me more?” Donghae said in a rushed whine, buring himself deeper into the cushions. “Kyuhyun found out about that! And he’s going to tell everyone. I’m going never going to be able to live that down!”

 

Hyukjae was taken aback by the sudden confession. Not because he didn’t already know the reason for Donghae’s spontaneous hair dying incident all those years ago, but because he didn’t expect his lover to blurt out something like that while he was in the middle of doing a live.

 

Given that his boyfriend was still trying to dig a hole on the sofa and hide in there to escape the humiliation, he didn’t yet notice that his words have been broadcasted online for Hyukjae’s fans to hear.

 

The blue haired model’s gaze flickered to his phone screen warily.

“I was live streaming when you came in, Hae.” Hyukjae admitted, his features fond as he awaited the reaction of his boyfriend.

 

It look a few seconds for the lavender haired man to process the words.

 

“Ten what?!” Donghae squeaked, his voice going up several pitches as he scrambled upright on the sofa.

 

The model smiled sheepishly.

 

“Ten hundred?!”

 

Hyukjae’s gaze turned slightly apologetic.

 

“Ten thousand?!” Donghae screamed in pure horror, his hands covering his mouth in shock.

 

“In your defense, you looked really hot as a ginger babe.” Hyukjae replied softly, the love for the lavender haired man unwavering.

 

Donghae however seemed to be on the verge of a mental breakdown.

 

The blue haired model turned to his fans, who were having a field day in the comment section, offering them a small grin.

 

“Sorry guys, I have to say goodbye now.” He spoke to the live stream viewers. “My boyfriend’s back home and he looks adorable with his new hairstyle. Ahh I just want to cuddle him so badly! I’ll see you guys at the Glimmers Gala. Take care!”

“Thank you guys!” The blue haired model waved at the camera before turning off the YouTube live, placing his phone on the coffee table.

 

He walked over to his lover, taking a seat on the sofa, before pulling Donghae to his lap, making the panicked man practically straddle him.

The trainwreck of emotions that were traveling through Donghae’s mind vanished completely as a pair of plump lips pressed against his own, kissing him eagerly. He wrapped his arms around his boyfriend’s neck, feeling the model’s own arms tighten around his waist as Donghae was pulled impossibly closer. He moaned quietly as Hyukjae deeper the kiss, letting the blue haired man take full control.

 

Hyukjae lips left a trail of kisses across his jaw, on his neck gently before kissing the addictive thin lips again, more urgently.

 

“Dammit Hae. You look so beautiful.” The model growled softly, his voice going a couple of notches lower.

 

The blue haired man pulled Donghae forward by the nape of his neck, capturing his lips in another passionate kiss. They continued little ministrations til oxygen became alarmingly low.

 

Donghae rested his forehead against his lover’s, his chest rising up and down as he tried to catch his breath. Hyukjae panted as he raised his fingers up to his boyfriend’s lavender hair, adjusting the pink scarf that was tied up as a bow on top of his head.

 

The former brunette, blushed scarlet before hurriedly removing the scarf, tossing it aside.

 

“But you looked cute like that Hae.” Hyukjae protested teasingly as Donghae buried his head under the crook of his lover’s neck in embarrassment.

 

“Chullie hyung forced me to wear it.” He mumbled against the other’s neck.

 

“I can imagine him doing something like that.” The blue haired model chuckled softly, before gently pulling away to stare into his lover’s dark orbs.

 

“But seriously Donghae, how come you didn’t tell me that you were going to change your hair color?” Hyukjae asked, running his fingers through the shorter lavender locks.

 

As lighthearted as he had attempted to sound, Donghae didn’t miss the hurt look that flashed across his boyfriend’s face.

 

“It’s not like that Hyukkie.” He immediately stuttered out. “Please don’t be mad, I didn’t mean to... I wasn’t going to...”

 

“I’m not mad at you Hae, I can never be angry at you.” Hyukjae reassured him, cupping his lover’s cheeks with his hands. “I’m just a bit confused... Why didn’t tell me you were going to change your hairstyle? I’m mean you don’t need to tell me everything but... I thought maybe we could’ve gotten our hair done together.”

 

The model couldn’t hide the hurt edge in his words.

 

“It wasn’t like that.” Donghae denied, shaking his head frantically. “I was going to... I wasn’t planning to...I...”

 

The lavender haired man sighed before taking a deep breath.

 

“I read an article about you recently.” Donghae blurted out. “There was this list of people that the public thought you were dating and there was a vote. And the majority votes went to this Gucci model you collaborated with and there was so many comments saying how good you two looked together.”

 

Hyukjae’s eyes widened as he opened his mouth to protest, but Donghae cut him off continuing without giving the other a chance to speak.

 

“And I know you won’t cheat! Of course you won’t cheat. But all the people in that list were so rich and famous and glamorous that I just realized everyone expects you to date a popular celebrity, who’s keeping up with the latest fashion trends and has a large social media platform. And I’m far from that as humanly possible!”

 

“So I thought maybe I should make myself more exciting you know? Because after working with all those beautiful people you have to home to plain old boring me. And I didn’t want your fans to be disappointed when they find out that I’m not who they except me to be and-“

 

His frantic rant was cut off by a pair of lips attacking his.

 

“, Hae! What are you talking about?” Hyukjae exclaimed bewildered, as he clutched his boyfriend tightly, his fingers curling possessively around the other’s thighs. “Those articles spew nothing but lies and those people? They’re all fake! Baby, you don’t need to change yourself to fit into the public’s opinion. Hae you don’t need to care about what the public thinks at all!”

 

“I know but...” Donghae sighed sadly.

 

“And Donghae, you’re perfect just the way you are.” The blue haired model continued, looking into his lover’s eyes earnestly. “And you are the most beautiful, precious, intelligent and adorable boyfriend that I could ever wish of having. I love you, Hae! I fall harder for you every single day and nothing’s ever going to change my love for you!”

 

The lavender haired man couldn’t help but smile at the model’s sweet words. He leaned in and pressed a soft kiss against the corner of the other’s mouth.

 

“I love you too Hyuk.” Donghae murmured. “I love you so much. I don’t know what I’ll do if I ever lost you.”

 

The blue haired model placed an insistent kiss on the other’s thin lips.

 

“You’ll never have to find out.” He promised.

 

Donghae let out a watery chuckle as he ran his hands through his lover’s sapphire blue locks.

 

“And Donghae, I’m happy to reveal our relationship to the public whenever you’re ready to.”  Hyukjae whispered lovingly.

 

“It might be a bit too late for that.” Donghae chuckled softly, getting his phone from the coffee table before sitting back down on his boyfriend’s lap.

 

The blue haired model pulled the other closer to him, his brows furrowing with curiosity as he took the phone from Donghae and stared at the device.

 

 

Ahh my favorite dongseng. Whatever will I do with you @LeeDonghae ?

 

Hyukjae’s eyes widened as he glanced back at his lover.

 

“I actually asked Heechul hyung and Kyuhyun to come to our apartment today, thinking that they’d be able to give me a makeover or something.” The lavender haired man admitted, resting his head on the model’s shoulder. “Instead I got a lecture on why I should value myself. They told me that since we’ve been dating for a long time now, maybe it was time to reveal myself and accompany you to Glimmers this year or something.”

 

“And I thought so too. They did drag me to a hair salon eventually because they thought that a new hairstyle would give me more confidence.” Donghae shrugged, savoring the warmth of the other’s embrace. “Even after I getting my hair done, I was so nervous about the whole thing so Chullie hyung offered to post my picture at as his friend, so that I’ll be able to know what the public thinks of me.”

 

“So I agreed but that just left me with checking the social media pages every five minutes and I was panicking even more so Kyuhyun somehow managed to find out about on of my most embarrassing secrets and made me freak out about it. Which did work, considering that I completely forgot about the post till now.”

 

Donghae placed a gentle kiss on his boyfriend’s cheek.

 

“I’m sure the Jewels will be able to connect the dots.” He mumbled softly. “They’ll know that I’m your boyfriend. I didn’t plan everything to turn out this way, but I’m actually fine with it. I hope you don’t mind.”

 

The blue haired model chuckled softly, wrapping his arms tightly around his boyfriend’s waist.

 

“I’m ecstatic to show off my beautiful boyfriend to everyone.” He replied, sincerity dripping off of his voice. 

 

“I just hope I’ll be able to fit in to your world.” Donghae whispered softly, looking down.

 

Hyukjae gently lifted his chin up with his fingers, starting into the other’s eyes adoringly.

 

“Hae, you are my world.”

Donghae lay wide awake in his sleeping boyfriend’s arms later that night, desperately trying to block out the insecure thoughts that flooded his mind. Unable to stand it any longer, he eased himself out of lover’s embrace, getting off the bed, taking his phone from the bedside table.

 

He opened his social media account, going to Heechul’s post while nervously nibbling on his lower lip, anticipating the chaos that would unfold.

 

And the post had blown up.

 

But not for the reasons Donghae expected.

 

He gaped at his phone as he read at the comments from celebrities, his and Hyukjae’s friends, under the post.

Donghae chuckled softly in the dark bedroom, clutching the phone tightly. As ridiculous as the comments may seem, he knew what his friends were trying to do.

 

They were giving a message to the public. That they supported Donghae and Hyukjae. That Donghae had powerful allies in the industry. That they would stand by Donghae no matter what.

 

And the lavender haired man felt grateful and slightly overwhelmed by the love he received from his closest friends. Maybe revealing himself to the public won’t be so hard after all.

 

Donghae’s gaze flickered to a notification that was flickering in his screen.

 

1 hour ago: New post from Eunhyuk_Official

 

He hesitantly clicked on it.

 

 

 

@Eunhyuk_Official: 

 

I know that everyone’s currently debating about my boyfriend’s hair colour so I thought I’d let you guys know that he won’t look any less perfect, no matter how crazy or how ridiculous his hairstyle may end up as.

 

And Hae, you’ll still be the most beautiful in my eyes even if you decide to dye your hair in all the shades of the rainbow or decide to shave it all off and go bald.

Donghae couldn’t help the tears that ran down his cheeks. Every doubt, every insecurity that had been haunting him over the years seemed to disappear with his boyfriend’s loving confession.

 

He looked at Hyukjae, his eyes widening with surprise when he saw his lover staring back at him with a sleepy smile.

 

“Come here Hae.” The blue haired model murmured drowsily, patting the empty space to the bed next to him.

 

The lavender haired man placed his phone back on the bedside table, scrambling onto the bed, snuggling against his boyfriend’s side as he tried to sniffle his sobs.

 

Donghae felt a protective arm wrap around his waist, pulling him impossibly closer as a his lover soothing caresses his hair with his other hand, placing a gentle kiss against his forehead.

 

“I love you-u too Hyukkie.” He sobbed softly.

 

Hyukjae held him close, soothingly rubbing his lower back til Donghae managed to control his tears. 

 

“Thank you for letting me be yours.” The blue haired model murmured as he drifted off to sleep with his boyfriend snuggled comfortably against his chest, right over his heart.

 

Donghae smile lovingly as he listened to his lover’s steady heart beats, as he finally let sleep overcome him.

 

“I’ll always be there for you Hyukkie. Even in a million lifetimes, I’ll always come to you.”

Author’s note 

 

And that brings us to the end of ‘YouTube lives and midlife crises.”

 

To be honest I really had a lot of fun writing this (even though the editing and formatting was a complete nightmare), so I hope you guys enjoyed the story.

 

And to summarize everything, Donghae was feeling a teensy bit insecure because he doesn’t fit in with all the glamorous showbiz in Hyukjae’s world and Hyukjae and their friends are more than willing to remind him how much he matters to them.

 

I’ll share my favorite little details in this oneshot;

 

• Even though Kyuhyun’s mentioned as ‘the devil himself’ at the start and he ‘kidnaps’ donghae and embarrasses him, he was just helping Donghae not stress about Heechul’s insta post.(Cause everyone knows he’s a total softie when it comes to Hae)
• Which brings us to Heechul, forever baby Hae’s guardian angel (This does end up with him having a few squabbles with Leeteuk, but who can blame them? Co-parenting is hard!)
• And finally, in Hyukjae’s post, even though his account his named Eunhyuk_Official, I specifically made him sign his message as Lee Hyukjae, just to show how genuine he was being.

 

So yeah all the Super Junior members made a special appearance at the end (because what is eunhae without Suju?)

 

With all of that being said, I’m going to stop writing for the time being. I think I’ve completed five oneshots by now. 

 

Anyway I’m pausing with the fanfics because in another 9 days time I’ll be moving to study abroad. I’m not really sure how it’s going to work out, it’s really nerve wrecking  since I’m going to be like 5000miles away from home. And I can’t believe I’m saying this but I’m going to miss school so much! Its going to be so hard leaving all my friends behind, (I’m pretty sure I’ll be bawling my eyes out by the end of the week). I’m waiting for the D&E comeback so eagerly, hopefully that’ll keep me going haha

 

That turned out as a rant.*sorry*
