Joohyun pulled the bunch of paper to her side. She frowned hard at the younger woman in front of her.

“This patient is mine.”

Seulgi raised an eyebrow, moving her hand to grab the results from Joohyun’s grip.

“I’ll operate him.” The younger cardiac surgeon snapped.

“I’m more experienced.” Joohyun pulled the results back to her.

They stared at each other in silence. Joohyun was right, she was more experienced. But Seulgi had already done that surgery before, she knew she could do it. Yerim opened to talk. She had to stop this.

“Nurse Kim.” Joohyun called her without leaving Seulgi’s eyes. “Call Doctor Park and tell her to prepare the OR.”

Yerim stepped back, ready to go. But another voice called her.

“But you—”

“Enough.”

Yerim looked at the new voice. It was Son Seungwan, a general surgeon. Yerim knew everything would turn out well. Both Joohyun and Seulgi respected Seungwan. Seulgi was actually her best friend. The Canadian always settled things between the two cardiac surgeons.

“Seulgi.” The younger looked at her friend with hope. “You’ll assist Doctor Bae.”

Joohyun smiled as Seulgi left with her best friend and the nurses around them released a relieved sigh. Joohyun looked at the two surgeons going away. She bit her lips, thinking. She couldn’t help but smile at the coloured footprints let by her soulmate, Seungwan. She hadn’t confessed to her yet. But she planned too, very soon. It was a shame that her soulmate’s best friend was an unbearable cardiac surgery fellow. But after confessing to Seungwan, Seulgi wouldn’t be a problem anymore. At least, she hoped.

Park Sooyoung was an anaesthetist. And she loved seeing Joohyun and Seulgi in the operating room. No matter who was the lead surgeon. They were excellent, both of them. But having them bickering, snapping at each other made Sooyoung smile. She truly believed that the two cardiac surgeons didn’t hate each other. She was almost sure there was something else. She thought they were soulmates. But she knew Joohyun, they were friends. And she knew that Seungwan was her soulmate.

“I should have been the one operating him.” Seulgi mumbled through her surgical mask.

“Stay focused.” Joohyun snapped. “Clamp.”

“I am. I can do two things at the same time.” Seulgi frowned, casting a glance at Joohyun but the older woman had her eyes on the opened body.

“Doctor Son picked the most skilled surgeon.”

Yerim slightly coughed at the lead surgeon’s sentence. She knew they were going to argue again. Sooyoung stared at them with a hidden amused smile. Seulgi couldn’t say anything back. She noticed Joohyun’s smiling eyes.

“Cat got your tongue?” Seulgi started at her, silent. “Doctor Kang?” But still nothing from the younger woman. “Kang Seulgi. Focus.” Joohyun snapped once more and Seulgi went back to work without a word.

Sooyoung noticed how strangely the operating room turned silent after that. Seulgi wasn’t usually the type to shut up that easily.

Joohyun took a sip of her tea, leaning on the desk behind her. The room was empty, she was alone here. She had noticed the coloured footprints on the floor. Seungwan must have been there earlier. Joohyun stared at those marks, slowly disappearing.

The door opened, startling Joohyun. She looked at the familiar figures appearing. Joohyun smiled when she saw Seungwan. And then, she distinguished Seulgi right behind her.

“How was the surgery, Doctor Bae?” Seungwan asked a smile on her face.

“G-Good.”

Seulgi groaned and walked toward the coffee machine. She didn’t want to see Joohyun all blushing and stuttering while talking to her best friend.

“How are you doing, Doctor Son?” Joohyun dared to ask. She couldn’t help but glance at Seulgi who was back to them.

“Alright. I have a surgery planned this afternoon.”

“Nothing you can’t do.”

Seungwan chuckled at Joohyun’s sentence. Seulgi was done with her coffee. She grabbed her cup and walked to Seungwan’s side.

“Let’s get going?” The younger cardiac surgeon asked, and her best friend nodded.

“See you later.” Seungwan smiled at Joohyun.

“Bye.” She quickly threw when the two women left.

Joohyun let out a sigh. She felt terrible.

The operating nurse looked at Sooyoung, her eyes begging for help. But the taller woman giggled, amused as always. Yerim shook her head, she was useless.

Joohyun was fuming. She was about to choke Seulgi. But the younger surgeon was standing firm, her arms crossed on her chest.

“Are you personally attacking me?” Joohyun yelled, but Seulgi didn’t budge.

“I’m saying that this wouldn’t have happened if you were more focused.” Seulgi pointed her scrub covered by tea.

“You weren’t even looking i

Chapter 1: This is super nice. Funny too. .. like how could you not see? The sudden switch to her narration of loving Seulgi was too fast for me but it made sense since this is a one shot. But… if you made it a two shot 😳. We can get SooYoung bring a smug lil . I also like how Seul can’t stop kissing Joohyun every moment after. Aih.. super cute.
