changkyun ran to his father giddily, a smaller little boy chasing after him albeit a bit shyer than before after seeing who his new friend was running towards. "appa! i made a new friend! we played all day and we were even able to nap together!" the energetic boy slammed into kihyun full force causing his dad to stumble back with a small 'oof!' jooheon stood politely to the side while changkyun spoke about him to his father. sure the man looked nice enough but jooheon still wasn't sure if he wanted to be the one to start talking first. "is this him, changkyun-ah? you're right. he is indeed very cute." kihyun set his son down so he could crouch in front of jooheon, smiling fondly as the little boy immediately seeked refuge behind changkyun. "hello~ i'm changkyun's appa. my name's kihyun." jooheon stared up at his new friends dad. from his smiling eyes to his chubby cheeks that housed deep dimples, jooheon felt himself flushing shyly for no reason at all. or so he thought. "kyun... your appa. he's- pretty?" the little boy turned to his friend just for him to laugh in his face. "appa! joo says you're pretty!" jooheon whined as his friend exposed him but the younger boy felt no remorse.

kihyun spared the boy some embarrassment by keeping his mouth shut - instead responding with a wide grin that made even jooheon crack a smile. "appa can we wait for joo's appa with him?" changkyun suddenly asked. "i don't see why not. why don't we go sit on the steps. is that okay, jooheon-ah?" with a nod of conformation from the toddler they all plopped onto the deserted stairs, jooheon sending changkyun an almost puppy-like glance as he took a seat on his fathers lap. "appa can-" kihyun already knew what his child was going to ask so he nodded. "only if he wants to or is comfortable enough to, kyun." 

joo wasted no time climbing into kihyun's free thigh happily. it surprised the dad that the shy little boy was okay with it but he wasn't about to question him. "appa. sing for us while we wait. please," who was kihyun to say no to his little boy?

kihyun might not be as good as the members of day6, a band changkyun somehow ended up obsessing over since he could talk, but his college major was music - specifically focusing on his vocals - so in his opinion he was at least better than all the amateur singers that go to karaoke bars solely to get drunk. by the time he finished the whole song the boys were lightly snoring away on his lap. he grinned proudly to himself for being able to kill two birds with one stone. not literally, of course. "it's getting late. i wonder if jooheon's dad forgot about him? no, he wouldn't! ....would he?" panic rose in kihyun and he tried his best to calm himself down. even if his father did somehow forget about him, panicking would only freak jooheon out and that's the last thing kihyun wanted to do. 

"this is why we hire nannies," he hissed to himself. "i mean, c'mon! is it that hard to at least call a relative?" he carefully pulled off his jacket and laid it across the two boys, sighing sadly as jooheon cuddled further into changkyun's embrace. "i'd really like to give this man a piece of my mind. if i hadn't been nice enough to stay he would've had to stay here by himself. it shouldn't matter if he'd be standing in front of his school, there's still a chance he could easily get yanked away and nobody would know!" kihyun ranted quietly to himself as not to wake the two boys up. he felt himself gripping onto them a little tighter at the thought of potential kidnappers. he's small but that doesn't mean he can't pack a punch. 

kihyun took a hesitant look around the parking lot just in case, finding himself freezing as he seen a man quickly walking his way. he contemplated bolting to his car but with two sleeping kids that practically made up another one of him he decided against it. the man was buff. buff and tan and he looked athletic enough to outrun kihyun in seconds. so he chose to keep his calm, pulling the kids naturally closer to his body. the mans eyes widened and his steps quickened. apparently kihyun's heart felt the need to pick up its pace because with the way it started hammering in his chest he's sure the kids could hear it in their sleep. the man was gorgeous. far too good-looking to be a dad. in a white button-up shirt and what looked to be black skinny jeans he quite possibly could've been a model of some sort. just... a very laid back one. 

"oh my god," the man finally reached kihyun with his long strides. he bent over for a second to catch his breath and kihyun wondered if he was running before this. "i'm so sorry for coming so late." the smaller dad stared in shock as the stranger bowed politely. "it's... it's no big deal. i'm both hoping and assuming your jooheon's father?" when the man laughed kihyun couldn't help but chuckle quietly in relief. "oh thank god. i was so worried you were going to walk by and try to take them. no offense but you look more like a model than you do a dad." he admitted. the other dad laughed huskily, the blush that reached all the way to his ears looked stunning on his skin and it had kihyun feeling odd. "was jooheon good? it's his first day here so i stopped by his favorite burger place to get him a milkshake as a way of saying 'congratulations for surviving' but i might've dropped it all over my car. hence why i was late..." kihyun stared at him.

"i'm hyunwoo! by the way. son hyunwoo, single dad and part-time waiter." hyunwoo grinned in the dorkiest way kihyun has ever seen. he liked it, it was cute. "yoo kihyun. also a single dad and a part-time chef." since kihyun was supporting both the kids the two fathers couldn't really shake hands so they settled for a firm nod instead. "a chef aye? wow that actually suits you." hyunwoo examined kihyun's soft featured with a gentle smile. "i call you a model and you don't even try to compliment me back." trying to hide a blush was harder than it seems, kihyun concluded. "even your son was kind enough to acknowledge my looks. he says i'm pretty." he huffed. honestly he was expecting for a laugh in response but when hyunwoo murmured a small 'well, he isn't wrong' instead the dimpled man almost choked. "appa?" kihyun froze as the kids started shifting, changkyun fully sitting up while he rubbed his eyes sleepily. "sorry baby, appa didn't mean to wake you." he lowered his tone in hopes that he wouldn't wake jooheon too but the boy seemed to be awake anyways, sitting up and looking around in confusion before he looked up to see hyunwoo staring down at him. "a-appa?" jooheon jumped off of kihyun and into his dads arm happily. "sorry i'm late bub. i got you a milkshake but i accidentally spilled it on the way here."

"as long as you didn't get hurt it's okay appa." the little boy giggled. changkyun slid off of his dads lap too, standing next to him as he gazed up at hyunwoo. "and who might you be?" the tanned dad asked. for a moment changkyun faltered, taking a shy step back just as jooheon did with kihyun. "i-i'm changkyun. joo's new friend and nap-time buddy." hyunwoo gasped in feigned amazement which kihyun silently thanked him for. "nap-time buddy? that's a big deal. jooheon's quite the cuddler. are you up for that type of challenge, changkyun-ah?" now kneeling next to the youngest boy hyunwoo made sure to lean in and whisper it almost as though he was telling him a secret. "yep! anything for joo-hyung. we're best friends now!" with a satisfied nod hyunwoo stood back up, holding out his hand for a high five that changkyun excitedly gave him. kihyun watched them with a loving smile. something about hyunwoo interacting with changkyun made him feel warm inside. it was like he had a whole family again.

"appa! appa you need to get joo's appa's number!" his son pulled on the hem of his cream vest annoyingly. "what? why?" he questioned with wide eyes only for changkyun to glare at him funnily. "so you can set play dates up for us of course!" his toddler whined again. "appa please!" even jooheon was begging his father, looking between both adults with big pleading eyes and his lower lip jutting out cutely. "i'm fine if you're okay with it." kihyun shrugged. hyunwoo flushed again and the boys yelled happily when he nodded in approval. 

"maybe we could plan for friday after school? i can cook dinner so they'd be able to play for a while. that way when it's time for bed they'll go out as soon as they hit the pillow. it's less trouble for the both of us." kihyun suggested shyly and hyunwoo listened attentively. "sounds good to me. but i have a request." he looked at the smaller man cheekily. "which is...." kihyun gulped. "i'd like to get to know you more while they play. us single dads got to stay together, right, kihyun-ssi?" hyunwoo smiled hopefully. he didn't know what came over him - honestly if it were anyone else he would've declined in a heartbeat. (well not really since it's kihyun but he would've found some way out of it.) with hyunwoo however kihyun felt the urge to know everything about him. he knew his was single, which gave him some hope that this could lead them somewhere they'd both want, but little did he know it was only the beginning for them.
