The summer season approached. It was a peaceful day, clear skies with birds flying across. Chaeyeon was cycling her way to her first part time job. On her way there, she was recalling the events that has been happening these past few days.

---

She remembered after going through many fights with her parents, they finally agreed to let her have a part time job this summer. Chaeyeon was born from a wealthy family. Both of her protective parents find there is no need for their daughter to go through such hassle like having a job but Chaeyeon thinks otherwise. She wanted to be independent. She has always admired her friends that gets to talk about their part time job experience. All of them seems fun, they get to meet new friends, experience new things. After listening to their stories, Chaeyeon could only imagine how nice it would to be in their shoes.

Anyway, this is her last year in high school. Chaeyeon figured out that this might be her last chance if she doesn’t go for it. Her parents had already arranged her college application in America so there won’t be any chance to do so by that time. Good thing, she bravely went for it and right now she is happily making her way to her job venue.

---

Finally, there she is, arriving at her part time job venue which is a public pool. Summer is all about pools, beach and such. It was such a coincidence that our protagonist likes swimming. At the same time, she’s pretty good in it too. Back then her parents used let her take swimming class which miraculously leads her to become her school representative swimmer. Soon she even became an all time champion who could almost make it to the Olympics but her parents refused.

Right now, Chaeyeon has her bag sling onto her shoulder. She was in her swim suit covered with her school jacket above it. Looking around, there were no customers at the pool during that time. There were only cleaners cleaning up the pool and a man wearing a jacket with a pair of swimming truck sitting by the bench. She approached the man by the bench, meanwhile, the latter noticed her presence too. The man got up from his seat and greeted warmly to the approaching figure.

“Hi, are you Lee Chaeyeon, the new part timer?”, the man asked with a welcoming smile.

Chaeyeon bowed politely, “Yes, I am.”

“Welcome to the public pool, Chaeyeon ssi. We are very pleased to have you as part of us.”, the man said in a friendly manner.

Chaeyeon beamed an awkward smile as she doesn’t know how to react to his welcome. Soon, the rest of the day goes by with some briefing about how the operation at pool works. Chaeyeon was informed that she's appointed as the lifeguard instead of helper which she applied for. The owner of the pool actually found out Chaeyeon being their state representative swimmer so he insists on having her to take the lifeguard position.

---

The opening hours approached. It was the first summer weekend. The pool was packed with people. There were some parents who brought their overly excited kids to the pool and some teenagers around Chaeyeon age came to the pool with their friend to play around. Chaeyeon sat at her lifeguard chair, looking around the pool. There were not much things to do as a lifeguard. After all, lifeguard is only curial when there is incident like people drowning and such. When those incidents happen, only there is something for Chaeyeon to do but of course she wouldn’t want someone to be in danger. The latter could only sigh as she felt bored, she had her hand leaned on the armrest and her head on it.

---

Everyone was having fun around. Their smile somehow brought smile to Chaeyeon face too. It reminds her of the time where she got to play around the pool with both her sisters. Too bad right now their bond was not as strong as they was back then. Chaeryeong is currently studying in Canada and Chaemin is in China now leaving only her and her parent in Korea. It is sad to remember how they drifted apart just like that.

Chaeyeon got down from her lifeguard chair. She had a stroll around the pool. Meantime, she noticed a certain person. The lifeguard was in awed at her sight. Chaeyeon thought she was looking at a goddess for a moment there.

The girl has shoulder length bob in blonde and her visual is certainly out of the world. Chaeyeon couldn’t help but to get hooked by her beauty. Soon, she find herself couldn’t take her sight off the latter. The girl approached the corner of the pool. Without any hesitation, she jumped right into it. To Chaeyeon it seem like the girl is here alone.

Chaeyeon decided not to pry so much so she continued her stroll. Same time, she could never fail to take her eye off the girl's direction even though internally she's battling herself not to. Soon, she notice something is off. Ever since the girl got into the pool, Chaeyeon has never seen her swimming around. This is weird, normally people would swim around after they get into the pool but where is she. Deep inside, she knew something is definitely not right.

The lifeguard then hurried her pace to the corner of the pool where the girl jumped into. And there she was, the girl was struggling under the water. Chaeyeon spare no seconds as she dive into the pool. Her reflex was quick. She managed to get the girl out in no time. Right after, she pulled the girl out from the water, the girl was breathing heavily. It was a good sign. It means she was saved in time. Chaeyeon quickly laid the girl gently on the floor right after they got on the surface.

The latter coughed water out from her chest. Chaeyeon quickly got her a towel to wrapped around her body. The girl forcefully pushed the lifeguard away. Just then Chaeyeon had a glimpse of the girl's memorising brown orb, there was sadness in it but it was soon filled with anger when she was pushed away by the latter.

“Why did you save me?! You could have just let me die there!”, the girl shouted making everyone in the pool to turn their attention to them.

Just before Chaeyeon could utter anything, the girl stomped away leaving the confused lifeguard with many questions behind. There goes her first day at her first part time job.

---

The next day approach, Chaeyeon is still in her confuse state about what happened yesterday. She is curious to why someone would scold another who just saved their life. She couldn't help but to think maybe the girl was planning to commit suicide. Meantime she tried to brush off that idea because it’s impossible to do so in a place full of people, plus a place with lifeguard around, who in the right mind would choose a place like this. Chaeyeon pushed away her thoughts and ready herself to face another day at her job.

Just like yesterday, the pool is packed again. Chaeyeon strolled around the pool, trying to get rid of her boreness. At the corner of her eyes, she noticed something familiar. She turned to that direction to have a clearer view. There it is, that girl she saved yesterday is here again. The girl approached the same corner where she was yesterday. Like a broken record, she jumped right into the pool just like yesterday. Chaeyeon made sure she kept a keen eye on the latter today. She had to make sure the same thing doesn't happen again.

She approached to the same corner where the girl was. Apparently, the girl is drowning again. Chaeyeon jumped in to save the girl without a second thought. The girl was again pulled out from the pool by the lifeguard. It really feels like a video on repeat to Chaeyeon. The girl scolded her again for saving her and stomped away before Chaeyeon could speak. The lifeguard could only sigh while looking at the retreating figure.

---

Third day in work, Chaeyeon was doing the same thing again. Likewise, the girl came again, jumping into the same corner of the pool. Chaeyeon spare no seconds as she launched herself into the pool to save the girl. She got scolded for saving the girl and can only see that girl walks away after her scolding again. Chaeyeon’s curiosity grows even wilder after this.

---

Day by day, the girl never fails to come to the pool and tried to commit suicide again and again. All of her attempt came to a failure because the lifeguard managed to save her all the time. It slowly became kinda like a routine for Chaeyeon to save the girl every day. Like today, Chaeyeon could only sighed at the presences of the girl approaching the pool. She knew all too well what the latter is here for. Instantly, she got down from the lifeguard chair with a rescues ring on her right hand and a towel on another. She threw the ring toward the girl’s direction then threw the towel aside before diving into the pool.

This time before the girl even got drowned she was already dragged out of the pool by Chaeyeon. The girl struggled as she try to break free from the lifeguard’s grip. To her avail, the lifeguard is stronger than her to hold her down. Chaeyeon wrapped the girl in towel after placing her by the bench. Surprisingly, the girl didn’t shout at her like always. She pouted cutely with her hand crossed like a angry kid.

Chaeyeon swears her heart skipped a beat upon witnessing that. Later, the girl stomped away without a word with the towel wrapped around her body. The left behind Chaeyeon thought maybe this is an improvement among all of their encounters.

---

The following days, everything still remain the same. As time goes by, Chaeyeon became an expert in saving the girl. One time, Chaeyeon even stood readily at the corner that the girl was going to jump at. The girl noticed the lifeguard there, she immediately turned to another direction and Chaeyeon follows. Right then, the girl got frustrated and jumped right in the pool in front of her with Chaeyeon mirroring her action. To Chaeyeon surprise, the girl could actually swim. The girl tried to swim away quickly but too bad Chaeyeon could catch up to her. The lifeguard caught the girl then pulled her out from the pool. The latter groaned.

This time before the girl leave Chaeyeon behind like usual, she stopped on her track and said, “Please stop saving me, there’s no use.”

This makes Chaeyeon’s frustration grows along with her curiosity. She is always a patient person but this girl is testing her limit. This time, she decided to at least strike a conversation with the girl the next time they meet. She waits as the next day approach.

---

The day comes. Chaeyeon went to the pool ready for her part time job. However, the owner is there with another person today. He spotted Chaeyeon’s presence from afar. The clueless girl bowed to the owner with greeting as she approaches. The owner greets back as well along with the person beside him.

“Thanks for working with us, Chaeyeon ssi. Let me introduce you to our new part timer, she’s Kim Minju and this here is our pride Lee Chaeyeon who is our state all time champion swimmer.”

Minju had amused expression plastered on her face. She bowed to Chaeyeon and stretches her hand for a shake. Chaeyeon gladly took the latter hand for a shake. Unconsciously, she found herself checking out the new part timer. Apparently, Minju was quite a good looking person. But of course, she couldn’t win against that another person occupying Chaeyeon’s mind right now.

“I hope you two could do well together and make some good memories here.”, the owner said with a smile.

The owner bid goodbye to the two lifeguards. Both of them were awkward after being left alone.

“So…”, Chaeyeon scratched her nape awkwardly.

Minju look at her curiously with her doe shaped eyes.

“Did the owner brief to you about what we do here?”, Chaeyeon continued.

Minju shook her head. Chaeyeon goes on to briefing the new comer about the pool and the equipment. The opening hour came and they go on to their work. Since being a lifeguard has not much to do, Minju decided to help out at the registration section. The whole time, Chaeyeon had her eyes on the latter. It was amusing to see such a clumsy person working. Occasionally, Chaeyeon could catch the clumsy girl almost tripping or doing minor mistake and apologising nonstop the others.

The feather lifeguard could only chuckle at her sight. She somehow finds the girl adorable. Soon, she is too caught up on the new comer to the point where she forgot about that another perso
