Soulmate Dream

"Unnie, have you dreamt about your soulmate yet?"

"What?" They had just been packing up after dance practice when Jeonghwa had asked that all of a sudden. "I haven't, but what's with that sudden question?" Hani asked as Jeonghwa sighed.

"Just curious. Ah~ I wish I can dream of my soulmate soon! I wonder what he looks like!"

"I haven't too, but the unnies probably have already." Hyelin said, looking to Solji and LE, who both shook their heads.

"Not me." Both chorused at the same time.

"Really? I thought for sure unnies would have dreamt of theirs."

"Nope." Solji was lying through her teeth, and she knew it. She did dream about her soulmate, almost every night since a few years back, not long after she had become the vocal coach for EXID. But there was one problem stopping her from telling others.

SOLJI'S SOULMATE DREAM

The surroundings was familiar as Solji navigated through the place effortlessly. She already knew where she wanted to go. She smiled to herself as she caught sight of someone sitting at the table, back facing her. Feeling playful, she quietly snuck up to the person and cheekily blew into their ear, laughing when they reacted.

"You have such beautiful hair." Solji smiled fondly as she ran her fingers through the long silky locks in front of her. The other person let out a soft sigh, relaxing into her touch, their actions making Solji's smile widen. "Really, as I thought, I really do love you."

END OF SOLJI'S SOULMATE DREAM

Yup. Her soulmate had long silky hair. Her soulmate is a girl. She was destined to be with a girl, and she had no idea how to break the news to others.

Thankfully, the soulmate topic was never brought up again. At least for quite a while. Solji had turned up at the company for dance practice too early, so she had instantly headed to LE's studio. There, she saw LE sitting in front of the computer.

"Unnie, you're early." LE took off her headphones and faced her as soon as she entered, making Solji smile.

"Yeah. Are you fixing up the songs?" Solji asked as she sat down on the couch.

"No." LE smiled. "I was just writing some lyrics I had in mind. Maybe I can make it into a new song."

"I see." Solji nodded as she sat down on the couch.

"Unnie, what do you think of dating the same gender?" LE asked all of a sudden, catching Solji off guard.

"W-What?" She stuttered.

"What do you think of dating a girl?" LE repeated, looking at her solemnly.

"A girl?" LE nodded. "That's hard to say though. I've never thought about it. And dating a girl..."

"Like for example, what do you think of dating me?" LE prompted.

"Why are you curious about that suddenly?" Solji asked, changing the subject. LE sighed.

"What if I told you I have actually been dreaming of my soulmate for the past few years, even before you and Hyelin joined EXID, while you were still our vocal coach?" Solji sat up on the couch.

"Really? But you said you haven't dreamt of your soulmate!"

"I lied." LE admitted. "I just didn't know how to tell you and the girls."

"Why?" Solji asked curiously. LE looked away for a while before looking back to her hesitantly.

"My soulmate wears heels and a dress." She confessed softly. "My soulmate's a girl, unnie." Solji stared at her wide eyed, speechless, as LE fidgeted with her hands nervously. "...Are you disgusted with me, knowing that, unnie?" She asked timidly, looking on the verge of tears.

"No!" Solji quickly shook her head, hugging LE. "No, I'm not. Not for something like that. It's just that, are you ok with it?" She asked as she pulled away.

"I'm ok, I guess. I mean, I don't really feel anything in particular. I don't think it's wrong to love the same gender." Solji smiled.

"I see."

"But what will the girls think, unnie? Should I tell them?" LE asked, looking nervously at Solji.

"I don't know." Solji gave a soft sigh. "I don't know what they will think either."

"I'm scared, unnie. I don't want them to hate me for this." She whimpered softly as she held Solji's hand tightly. Solji could only return the grip on the trembling girl's hand as reassuringly as she could.

"We'd never hate you for that, LE unnie!" Hani's shout made them look to the door just as 3 girls came tumbling in.

"You girls were listening?" Solji asked as they leapt to their feet and rushed to LE.

"We came to call you two for practice and overheard a little." Hyelin grinned sheepishly.

"LE Unnie, it's ok! There's nothing wrong with loving the same gender! It's not wrong!" Jeonghwa said as she hugged LE tightly. Solji smiled to LE.

"I forgot how open-minded we are. Aren't you glad they took it well?" LE smiled a little as she nodded, looking down.

"Unnie, what's your soulmate like? Do you know who she is?" Jeonghwa asked excitedly as she pulled away.

"No. It's always the same dream. I couldn't see her face, but I remember being at what looks like an event or a party, there were lots of people around."

LE'S SOULMATE DREAM

Excited chatter filled the cheerful atmosphere as she sat at the table. As she turned to the entrance of the room, she froze at the sight of the girl walking in. LE stared at her, taking in her appearance, starting from her heels. She wore pure white heels, and her long white gown flowed gracefully behind her as she walked. She seemed to shine in the light as her gown sparkled, reflecting the lights that hit it. She was just like an angel. Yes, that's it. She couldn't be anything other than an angel, LE decides. An angel she loves.

END OF LE'S SOULMATE DREAM

"So cute!!!" Hani cheered. "I can't wait for you to meet your soulmate, unnie! You two will be so adorable together!"

"You might be the first to meet your soulmate then, since you're the only one who has dreamt about your soulmate!" Hyelin exclaimed. Solji only laughed.

"Actually, to be honest, I have dreamt about my soulmate before too. I just didn't tell you because my soulmate's a girl too."

"WHAT?!?!?!" The 3 girls exclaimed, quickly flooding her with questions about her dream.

"Unnie, you too?" LE asked as Solji chuckled, recounting her dream to them.

"That's so cute, unnie!" Jeonghwa squealed.

"I hope you two find your soulmate soon. I can't wait to see you together." Hyelin said excitedly, making Solji laugh.

As usual, Solji woke up while she was playing with her Soulmate's hair. Evidently, with the girls' approval, she found herself feeling more relaxed about dreaming of her Soulmate. But still, there was something on her mind which she couldn't stop thinking about.

"What do you think of dating me?"

What do I think of dating LE? She wondered silently as LE's question repeated itself in her head. Although LE had said that as an example, Solji couldn't help but wonder about it. Would she have accepted if LE had asked her out? What would it be like to date LE? What does she feel about dating LE?

"It doesn't feel strange to me. I wonder why." She tried to imagine holding LE's hand and hugging her, going out together on dates just the two of them, and whatever couples do. But all she could think of was the countless times they had held each other's hands, the lingering touches whenever they perform, the glances they shoot at one another any time they could. They were already literally like a couple. Honestly, she was so comfortable around LE, she probably wouldn't mind dating her. But what about her soulmate? It was so confusing. They were destined to be with their soulmate. But what if she liked someone else other than her soulmate? Solji could only sigh as she laid back in bed, cutting off her thoughts. For some reason, her bed seemed to feel cold and empty.

Ever since her thoughts that night, Solji found herself looking at LE more often. She tried to stop herself, knowing it wouldn't be fair to her soulmate whom she has yet to meet, but she just couldn't help it. Every day, she grew to realise her feelings more. Every day, it was getting harder to deny that she indeed loved the rapper/producer. But she could never tell her. They both have their own soulmates. It was unfair for her to take someone else's soulmate away for her own selfish wants. She had to hide it, hide her feelings away, so nobody could tell. Hide it so that she wouldn't destroy what they have now. Hide it, so LE could be happy, with her own soulmate someday. But what about her own happiness? Solji only sighed as she walked through the ever so familiar corridors of the company. She had been losing sleep over her thoughts for the past few nights and turned up way too early for the dance practice again, so on instinct, she headed straight for LE's studio. She had gone there so many times, she could probably navigate there effortlessly even with her eyes closed. As soon as she entered the room, a smile instantly came over her face when she saw LE sitting at her desk, eyes focused on the computer screen. Temporarily forgetting her troubles, she snuck up on the unsuspecting girl. Swiftly, she took off LE's headphones and blew into her ear, making LE let out a startled scream.

"Unnie!" Solji laughed as LE shook her head at her, a smile on her face as she rolled her eyes at her antics, and put her headphones back on, turning back to the computer screen. The fond smile still on her face, Solji found herself loitering behind LE instead of going to sit on the couch as she usually does. Her eyes travelled to LE's long ombre hair, splayed out over the chair. They look so smooth, like silk, Solji thought to herself as she unconsciously reached out a hand.

"You have such beautiful hair." She smiled fondly as she ran her fingers through the long silky ombre locks in front of her. LE seemed to relax into her touch, letting out a soft sigh. Solji's smile widened. She could do this all day. Just being comfortable and relaxed, enjoying the presence of the one she loves. "Really, as I thought, I really do love you." She let out a soft gasp when she realised that she had said those words out loud. LE must've felt it when Solji's hands stiffened suddenly, because she took off her headphones and turned to Solji, confusion and worry on her face.

"Is something wrong, unnie?" Solji just stared at her, eyes wide. The scene was familiar to her, a sense of deja vu washing over her. The memory came to her quickly and she let out a loud gasp before dashing out of the studio, leaving a very confused LE behind.

What the hell was that? LE frowned as she tried to wrap her mind around what had just occurred. Solji had just been playing with her hair when she had suddenly frozen and dashed out of the studio with a loud gasp. Why? She just couldn't understand. LE frowned, the flashback still repeating itself endlessly in her mind, as she sat at the table, waiting for the rest of EXID to show up for the year-end event. Why did Solji suddenly react that way? Excited chatter filled her ears as she found the sign on the table with their group name very interesting, staring at it. Her eyes then shifted to the entrance of the room, seeing the crowd flitting in. Many wore white dresses. It made LE wonder if any of them could be her soulmate. The surroundings did kind of resemble her dream. Sighing, she turned away for a second, only for a brief glimmer to draw her attention back to the entrance. And LE froze, entranced, as she took in the appearance of the girl walking in. Pure white heels, and then a long white gown flowing gracefully behind the girl, LE could only stare, her eyes widening as she matched what she was seeing to her dream. Light bounced off her sparkling dress, illuminating her in the rather dim room. An angel. That was the first thought that came to LE's mind as her eyes travelled all the way up, revealing the identity of her soulmate. The sight of who it was made her elicit a loud gasp as both of her hands flew up to .

"It can't be..." Solji walked over to her and instantly smiled.

"Hyojin."

"Unnie." LE felt herself releasing a breath she didn't know she was holding. "You're my..."

"Soulmate? I know. I got a shock when I realised it too, while I was playing with your hair, just as my Soulmate Dream had shown since I first met you.” LE’s thoughts travelled back to the day when Solji had suddenly bolted out of her studio.

“That’s why you left so abruptly that day?” LE asked, receiving a nod in reply.

“No wonder I dreamt of my soulmate so often. I was thinking about you almost every night, and I guess, you were thinking of me too. What were you thinking about?" Solji teased lightly with a smirk, making LE blush.

"I didn't think of anything! I just..." LE looked away shyly, trying to hide her blush behind her hand. "...thought that you were really pretty and talented…and what it would be like to date you." She admitted softly as she looked down, avoiding Solji’s gaze. Solji's smiled widened as she reached out a hand to twirl LE's long locks.

"You really do have such beautiful hair." LE just let Solji toy with her hair as she snuck a glance to Solji. Watching her stand in the light, a gentle fond smile on her face, LE just couldn't help but think that Solji must really be a real angel. She couldn't be anything but an angel. An angel that she loves. Just as her Soulmate Dream had been showing her since they first met.
