The phone in my hand clatters to the floor, the screen shattering into a million tiny pieces of glass around my feet. He can’t die. He's my best friend. Leo can’t die. The idiot can’t leave me. He can’t leave me alone. He can’t do this to me. He can’t break his promise to me. That’s not how it works. He can’t die. There is no reason for me to cry because he is going to live, but even so, the tears flow freely down my face. My legs wobble and give out and I fall to the floor broken. The glass cuts and pierces my skin but all is numb. He can’t die. He can’t leave me here. A whimper escapes from my lips and I pound my hands against the floor.

”Please....please......please don’t.......don’t leave me,” I whisper between my sobs. “Don’t leave me again.”
