The grey clouds began to congregate overhead while the light of the computer screen highlighted your figure curled up in the plush armchair. An episode of your latest series that had captured your attention played on the screen, a few minutes later the door to the bedroom opened up behind you. Turning around, you were greeted happily by your boyfriend as he came in with a smile.

“Hey, how was work?” You questioned, turning around after pausing your episode

“It was good, a storm is blowing in though” He sat down on the edge of the bed as you sat up straighter

“A storm?!” You questioned, excitement lining your words

“Yeah, it looks like it will be a good one too” He replied before tilting his head as he watched your eyes light up with excitement.

Before he could ask you anything else, he watched you leap out of the chair and crawl swiftly across the bed to the window. Pressing your hand against the ledge beneath the window, you used your other hands to part the blinds. Lifting your eyes upwards, you peered at the darkening clouds overhead.

“You can open the window if you would like, I don’t mind” Your boyfriend slipped into the plush desk chair that you were occupying a few minutes ago.

Peering over your shoulder, you saw him give you a small smile to encourage you to do what you wish. Moving over to the other side of the window, you pulled the strings downwards to lift up the blind slats that had hindered your view. Pulling it upwards, you pressed yourself against the glass before feeling the rumbling of thunder, introducing the storm overhead.

“C-Can I open the window?” You questioned wanting to smell the fresh scent of the rain outside.

“Sure, if you really want to” Your boyfriend smiled as he glanced from the computer screen over to you. Unlocking the window, he watched you pull the window open as the cool air flooded into the room, the clouds dropped in the sky, covering the tops of the trees before droplets of rain began to drop from the loaded grey clouds above.

The fresh scent hit your senses as you couldn’t help but smile as the fresh smell of the rain coupled with the scent of the pine needles and the nearby trees releasing their fragrance. The chilling airbrushed across your skin as you couldn’t help but allow the corner of your lips to be pulled to either side with a smile.

Feeling a pair of eyes on you, you lifted your eyes to the sky as the droplets of rain began to get larger with each passing minute. Cracking of lightning followed the rolling thunder overhead as the streets began to get coated with all different sizes of droplets. Droplets fell from the pine needles as they followed gravity and flowed down each needle before dropping off to the next bunch of pine needles.

Feeling a pair of eyes on you, you couldn’t help but smile as you sunk against the window in happiness.

“You’re enjoying yourself, aren’t you?” Your boyfriend smiled as he tilted back in his chair while gazing at you pressed up against the window.

“Very much so” You replied, not being able to tear yourself away from the window and the storm on the other side of the window screen.

A few minutes passed as you just allowed this moment to sweep you away. Hearing your boyfriend move from the armed chair to the bed, he wrapped his arms around your waist as you smiled brighter with his touch.

“You know, you are too cute” He whispered against your ear before tightening his grip on you.

“What am I doing to make me cute?” You questioned, your eyes watched another flash of light from the lightning crack across the sky.

“You just look like a puppy, and I am sure that if you had a tail that it would be wagging out of control by now” He giggled as your laughter mingled with his.

“Yeah, pretty much” You nodded your head as the storm began to let up after a good hour of rainfall.

Watching the waterfall from the filled gutter overhead, you leaned back on the bed as your boyfriend welcomed you into his embrace with open arms. In that moment, you couldn’t help but think to yourself that life couldn’t get any better than this. Being in the arms of the one that you love, and the one who loves you with the simple beauty of nature bestowing a slice of heaven down on your day.
