She was on a run.

She was on a fcking run.

Four years away from home and the first thing she had to face was three men in black trying to abduct her.

It was when one of the men grabbed her arm and led her to a van parked nearby that she realized something was off with the men her father had sent. The guys were a bit too rough and she did not remember her father’s employee to bear such a look. Muscular arms and scary looking, more than her father’s personal assistants, they looked more like those gang members you would see in an action movie.

These were not her father’s men, she realized almost too late.

Almost, yet she managed to wriggle free from the man’s hold and made an escape. And so she ran.

And so she eventually regretted as soon as she turned around the corner.

She was not a good runner, all right? She was not. Heck, she might have a pair of long legs many girls envied, but she could not run as fast to save her life. She could feel her breath running short and legs giving away, but she could not stop just yet. Whatever those men wanted to do with her, she could not stop and get herself caught. She would not—

Before she could finish her thought, she felt wind rustling in her ears and two arms wrapped around her waist. Or not, because then the sensation was long gone and she was standing in the deepest corner of an alleyway. The empty road she had been running along just a second ago disappeared, too. In their place now were three women. One of them was black-haired with this bright smile plastered on her lips. Her companions stood on her sides, and both were sporting the same shade of blonde hair. Neither of them bore the friendly smile; they merely stared at her.

“Hi, Choi Sooyoung. We’ve been waiting for you,” greeted the woman in the middle. “I’m Tiffany and these are Hyoyeon and Taeyeon.”

Alarmed at the greeting, Sooyoung took a step back. However, as she was about to run yet again, she heard a cracking sound, akin to that you would when breaking ice cubes in your mouth. However, instead of breaking, she saw ice started forming before her. She could not believe her own eyes, but the puddle of water in the alleyway moved and pooled in one spot as it built up, up, and up and hardened, crystalized into a wall of ice, high enough to block her escape route.

“I’m afraid that wouldn’t be necessary,” the woman called out, lowering her raised hand. For a fleeting moment, Sooyoung had this crazy idea that the woman was the one who did that. That Tiffany just controlled water and turned it into ice. “We’re here to help,” Tiffany continued.

“How…” Sooyoung shook her head, trying to clear her mind of the crazy idea, and tried again, “How did you know my name?”

“They’re going around the building,” one of the blondes spoke. Hyoyeon, Sooyoung recalled. Her voice was soft, as though she was listening to someone and did not want to miss anything they were saying as she reported it. Save for Sooyoung’s laboured breathing, however, everything was quiet. The blonde spoke again, “They’re trying to reach from the other end. I’m afraid it’s no time for pleasantries.”

“Well then, Kims, if you please?”

At the command, Hyoyeon and Taeyeon advanced toward Sooyoung. Sooyoung tried to fight, but the two women made no attempt to seize her as Sooyoung had originally thought. She looked at them warily.
