Impulse
Cry Out With My Heart and Soul
My mouth hung open as Yesung and I stared at each other. Thoughts and emotions ran through my head just as fast as they did that last day I saw him: “Yesung’s here.” “Yesung is alive.” “Yesung…my love.” and then finally, “He got hurt because of me,” and “But that’s how it always was.”
Then, I bolted.
“Wookie!” Yesung yelled after me. I heard footsteps running after me, turn around, and saw one of Yesung’s friends running after me – the one with light brown hair. He caught me in the elevator.
“Why’d you leave?” He asked.
“I, uh… I needed some air.” I swallowed hard.
The elevator opened at the roof. “Well, then, let’s talk while we’re getting some air.” I groaned as we left the elevator and walked onto the roof. “You seem to have some kind of history with Yesung, and I’d kind of like to know.”
I sighed. I had two or three days’ worth of history with Yesung. I barely knew the guy. “What’s there to tell? I found him on the side of the road and we had an adventure.”
“He gave you his number, but you never contacted him, did you?” After you dropped him off at his apartment, you seemed to fall off the face of the planet. Why?”
“I don’t have to explain myself to you! I don’t even know your name!”
“I’m Leeteuk. Please, Ryeowook?”
I bit my lip. “Leeteuk, you seem like a nice enough guy, but… sorry. My reasons are my reasons.” I pressed the ‘down’ button on the elevator and we waited in silence, and then made our way back to the room. “Eunhyuk, I’ll see you around.”
“Wookie, don’t go. Please.” Not Eunhyuk’s words, but Yesung’s. “It’s been four…five months since we last saw each other. Can’t we at least catch up?”
With my back to him, he couldn’t see the tear that fell down my cheek. However, that didn’t mean that Dr. Choi didn’t see it as he walked in. He gave me a look that asked if I was okay. I nodded slightly, and as we passed each other, he gave me a pat on the back.
On my way out of the hospital, I was looking down so no one could see me cry. But then I accidentally ran into someone. “O-oh. Sorry. Please excuse me.”
“Wookie?” Oh, God. It was Henry. “Are you alright?”
I sighed. “Do I look it?”
Henry ran his hands up and down my arms, like that would do any good. “What’s wrong? I came to see Eunhyuk, but I’ll always take time out of my schedule for my Wookie.” I looked up, then, and he smiled, just like old times.
Impulsiveness must run in my blood, because just like when I kissed Yesung, I don’t know where it came from. “Can we get back together?”
