Too good to deny
A December story.Yoon Bomi. Last day of the year.
I remember drinking alone at the bar. But I don’t remember returning home.
Anyway, I drank so I could forget all this feeling stuff, it was my 'farewell' to Park Chorong, that way I'll be ready to say goodbye properly.
It's almost a month of getting to know each other, of being friends, fiancés, girlfriends, and nothing. All at the same time.
I know she has to achieve her goals, that’s why I won't try to pursue her. She did everything possible to get it.
Eunji is timely, her call got me out of the pitiful cycle of my thoughts.
*Bbom-ah you got me worried! Are you ok? —I didn’t understand her concern
*ehh, yes? I just had a few drinks last night, it's not that bad
*Eunkwang oppa said you were so drunk that you couldn’t even get up. Yoon Bomi, I told you, you shouldn’t drink alone, I could’ve canceled my trip and accompany you. —Sometimes she act like my mother. So I let her continue her long speech, if I dare to interrupt her she’s capable to take a plane back from Japan just to prove her point —"I even had to call Chorong unnie to take you home!
That last statement woke me up from the dream that caused me all her scolding.
*You called unnie?! Jeong Eunji, perhaps... why did you do that?! —Great, I must have been horrible. I tend to become even weirder when drunk
*I called all our acquaintances, she was the only one who answered and although she was busy she went to rescue you, damsel in danger.
*Eunji. Stop trying to get us together, I already told you, "we" can’t be.
*This time it was not like that. She was the only one who could help you. Don’t you think it's a kind of sign?
*Ok, enough! no more! Thank you for your concern and everything, but stop it. ahh and happy new year.
I hung up, before she continued with all that ‘fate’ things and ‘nothing is coincidence’ blah blah blah. I already know.
It’s real.
I needed to look good for that night. The party will be at 10, there will be no touching, nor signs of affection.
Moreover, we may be there for a few minutes and then kicked out by the conservative parents of Chorong unnie.
...
They were certainly well-off, the house wasn’t just a house, but a mansion.
Unnie was waiting for me outside, I saw her from distance and, beautiful as always. Aghh. This is hard.
"Bbom-ah, are you ready? There's a slight Change of plans... for now, you just have to act normal. I told them you're a friend, I didn’t dare to say anything else."
She was tensed, I took her hand to assure her that I understood. She seemed surprised.
"When it’s time, I'll take my parents aside and we will tell them. Ok?" She said and I just nodded.
That's not "a slight change". I was supposed to arrive as unnie’s lover and cause them a heart attack when they saw that I am a woman and they would start sprinkling us with holy water or something. Ok, I'm exaggerating.
"It's fine, but do you think it's better? I thought you wanted it to be quick" this is not planned, and the unplanned things get out of control. Talking by experience here.
"I know, but I don’t want my parents to hate me, if I ruin their night in front of everyone it will be worse." She’s a good girl after all.
