Chapter 16: Discovery
In Another Life
In that moment when the two hesitated, something strange occurred. The uncanny mist returned and fogged up the place again. Yebin mindlessly cleared it up again and the little girl was in full view again. However, the girl seemed to dissolve, as if she was melting. Her body eventually became liquid as her body was now sprawled all over the ground. There were no remnants and it was quiet for another few seconds at least. Once again the mist reformed at it was starting to bug the two of them and more of a bother after Yebin rid of it. The body reformed going back to her human, solid state.
“For god’s sake,,,,,,, should get going,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, get her in the first place.”
She repeated what she had said. It suddenly made sense. The mist was to hide the fact her body was dissolving and reformed. It was a lure, a trap. If they wanted to play it safe, they would go back, but it would waste time. They needed to decide whether to take the risk.
They scanned the room thoroughly, trying to find perhaps a room or a door. Nayoung tried to focus on any mental activity around the place, but it proved fruitless. To their delight, they noticed a tiny trap door under the little girl. It looked as if it was used quite often and it obviously led to somewhere important.
The two of them waited patiently until the girl was starting to melt again before Yebin gingerly moved the mist and the blood of the girl away. In those split second, the two had opened the trapdoor and landed rather ungracefully on the moist ground. They didn’t particularly want to know why it was wet, though as they were a dealer with a dark practitioner, it was most likely blood and edged towards a wall, hoping they have not notified anyone of their arrival. The coast seemed clear, no sounds or movement was heard so the two teleported further down the corridor before walking again. They could feel the moist liquid every step they took and it was frankly quite disgusting, though they couldn
