There was a brand new ice cream shop at AIAS. It had been in construction in the building that used to be a café near the Third House since the middle of the previous year, and the advertisements for its upcoming grand opening had been spreading across the campus for weeks. It was a shop that relied on the power of liquid nitrogen to freeze fresh cream and other products into a custom order, made right before a customer’s eyes. Naturally, Jaehyung Park had to be a part of it.
And, of course, if Jae had to be a part of it, then Ellie was expected to be in attendance as well. She didn’t have much of a choice on it, either; on the day of the grand opening she was given a half hour to throw on makeup and clothes and make a presentable person of herself before Jae was literally at her odor, back in his double lens glasses and ready to go, whether she herself was ready to go or not.
“You could have given me more time,” Ellie grumbled as they made their way towards the Third House together; as she spoke she fussed with her curls, which she had been in the process of fluffing and separating when he had come and forcibly removed her from her dorm.

Jae wasn’t the only one with his sights set on the shop’s grand opening; they arrived to find a snakelike line already queued up inside, of students and professors alike with menus in their hands, their attention split between the menus they picked up at the door, and the white, cool smoke billowing up from the bowls that employees were working with to make orders. Jae’s attention was explicitly set on his menu the last time that Ellie checked, but Ellie watched a little bit of everything, having already decided what she wanted.
“We’ve got another show coming up,” Jae announced suddenly, surprising her; Ellie turned to find that he was now watching the employees as well. “In a couple of weeks; we just confirmed it.”
“Oh, really?”
“Are you coming?” he asked her. “It was between you or my mom, and she already has plans, so…” Ellie smirked, shaking her head.
“Yeah, I’m coming, since you made such a tempting offer.”
“Are you gonna have to work?”
“I’ll make sure that I’m off,” Ellie assured him with a smile. “I wouldn’t miss it.” He said nothing, his expression unreadable, and Ellie turned her attention back to her menu, reading over the other options that she hadn’t chosen. Her thoughts were already on the upcoming concert; s
