As much as she could be greeted at home with open arms and with a snack on the table waiting after a long day from school. No one welcomes her once she comes home. Nothing but silence and a big empty home.

Jennie sighed as she closed the door behind her and walked straight to her room. Everyday was the same. She would wake up, get dressed, go to school, go to her classes and enjoy the time with her friends. That was the only time she was smiling and feeling a bit happy.

But another part of her wasn't. She would come home to an empty house.

Her father wasn't in the picture since he died in a car accident. Her mother works a lot being the President of a huge fashion design so she was hardly ever around. Yet when she was looking for a new partner, Jennie thought she would see more of her mother at home. Sadly, the work doubled more and it was only once a week when she saw her mother.

Jennie placed her bag on the chair by her desk and went to sit on her bed. She let out a sigh and closed her eyes and she laid back. Another long day and not to mention seeing her long time crush was usually the highlight of her day.

- - -

Two years ago.

Jennie rushed home when she got a text from her mother saying she would be home for the next few days. It had been at least two months of not seeing her. She was busying traveling around different countries meeting different fashion to create something unique and simple.

As soon as she got home, voices were heard in the living room. Jennie was out of breath when she entered the room and saw her beautiful mother talking to another beautiful woman across from her.

"Hello Sweetheart," Jina said with a smile as she looked at her daughter. "This is Yoo Naye. She is my partner with the business. I need an extra pair of hands and another opinion."

Jennie looked at the woman who had nice skin as her hair was short bob just above her neck. Naye smiled at the young girl and looked back at Jina. "You both could pass as sisters."

Jina laughed feeling her cheek turn red. She was going to open to say something but her eyes passed behind her daughter and kept her smile. "Jennie meet Yoo Kihyun, her son."

Jennie turned around widening her eyes at the handsome boy that was standing only a few feet away from her. He smiled at her making her heart jump wildly as he eyes seemed as if they were closing. He bowed to her and kept his smile. "Nice to meet you."

"Um..." Jennie was lost for words but she could feel her cheeks burning making her feel uncomfortable on what to say. She only smiled at him putting her hair behind her ears. "Same."

"They also live next door to us. So now you won't be so alone. You have Kihyun nearby." Jina said as she stood up and Naye followed as well. "Now let's go have dinner."

The whole time at the dinner table, Jennie couldn't help but take glances at the cute handsome boy as he was sitting across from her. Just as much she was bored, she knew he was feeling the same way. He would make funny faces at her causing her to smile as their mothers were talking.

Kihyun smiled at the pretty girl sitting across from him and felt his heart jump fast. It was the first time it had happened. Moving next door was probably going to be a good thing. He was bitter about the move but he lived with his mom so she wouldn't be alone. He was glad he had already made a new friend.

Dinner ended two hours later and the four of them were standing outside their house. The mothers kept talking away about work while Kihyun smiled as he looked over to Jennie. "So what campus are you going too?"

"Seoul Music of Arts." she said as she crossed her arms under her chest. "You?"

"I'm just starting there. Maybe I'll see you around?" he pushed his hands in his pockets.

Jennie blushed as she looked down and smiled. "Maybe."

When it was time for him to go, he removed his hand from his pocket and ruffled her hair messing it up.

That's when her heart stopped and her eyes widen.

Oh..no..

Friend zone.

She was already friend zoned on the first day. It made sense since they just met but she had hoped they could be something more later. She would just have to try.

- - -

Within the two years of trying, Kihyun never picked up the signals. It was if she was met to be in the friend zone. She would walk with him to the campus, walk back home, they would go get snacks and just hang out at each other's home at times.

She even hung around him with his friends that he made at campus. They were all sweet and nice. She got along with Hyungwon and Minhyuk the most. Jooheon would make her laugh with his girlie voice doing hearts with his hands. Changkyun was usually quiet with Shownu but he was sometimes weird. Wonho spent most of his time with his girlfriend so he was never around. Just there in spirit.

Jennie tried many excuses trying to get his attention. Asking for help in an assignment, asking for help when she cooked or baked but it failed. Asking for help for a project but nothing seemed to work. Playing dumb was the last thing on her mind since she was one of the smartest girls around campus.

As much as she wanted to give up, she didn't. She only took a break and tried to make a move on Bobby a few times but he never paid attention to her. She was able to put her number in his cell but he never called. Then news went around when he got a girlfriend and when she saw it for her own eyes she found her entertainment.

She was mostly doing it for getting Bobby's attention to come to his girlfriends aid but another girl came taking his place a few times and she would get bullied but she was always tough about it not being a bother.

It was only fun and games for bothering Jeongyeon but in the end. It had to stop sooner or later. She would have to let it go and move onto something else. It was just hard.

It was ironic though.

Jennie had a lot of attention at school being around friends and a few boys always came up to talk to her. But deep down, she was feeling something else.

Not being loved by her only parent.

Always being alone at home.

Not being able to show her Mother her own music at school.

The music festival was a fun day for Jennie, she got to spend time with her friends and Kihyun when he was around. Even though he was oblivious to her feelings, Jooheon and Lisa would about it.

It was also when Jooheon accidently made Bobby jealous by talking to Jeongyeon backstage and that's when Jeongyeon and her became friends. When the next semester started, they had two classes together. Strangely enough, they became good friend helping each other out.

Jennie opened her eyes and sat up for a moment before taking out her phone checking the time. It was getting close to dinner and every day after she got home from the campus, she would remind herself if she had any homework before she went for a walk.

Walking was her favorite thing to do. It helped her clear her mind for a while until she came back to a dark and unwelcomed home. It was odd to adjust at first but she ended up getting used to it.

Jennie changed into something comfortable and left her home always going the opposite direction from Kihyun's home. She didn't want to see him after her long day. She saw him talking to a girl and they were smiling and probably flirting.

What looked like flirting just broke her heart making her mood drop into a gloomy one and wished she could have the power to control the weather to make it cloudy.

But she could only wish for so much.

Her walk was only thirty minutes each day. It was enough for her to just relax and listen to whatever was around. Cars driving fast in the distance, birds chirping, people talking in a distances. Feeling the wind come and go. Just the noise of nature around her.

As soon as she got back, she went to her bathroom taking off her clothes and turning on the shower. The warm steamy water was hitting her skin nice and easy as she closed her eyes just standing. She grabbed the soap and washed her body and then hair.

"One of these days, I need to go to the sauna." she mumbled to herself. Enjoying the heat of the water was also another one of her favorites thing to relax and block out her thoughts from stressing.

When she turned off the water, she grabbed two towels. She grabbed one wrapping it around her body and used the other one for her hair. She was rubbing her hair against the towel so it could drive faster.

She grabbed her brush and combed it making it better. Just when she was about to put cream on her face, there was a knock on her door.

Jennie walked out of the bathroom and went to open the door to her room. There stood Kihyun with wide eyes seeing Jennie standing in front of him with only a towel wrapped around her body. Her hair was still wet and touching her skin. He gulped with a sudden heat he was feeling from himself.

His heart started to pound fast as he kept staring at her. His mouth opened slightly for a moment before Jennie cleared making him look at her. "Did you need something?"

He then cleared his own throat. "Do you always answer the door in a towel?"

Jennie smirked as she rolled her eyes turning away from him as she went to her closet. "Do you always flirt girls who look your way?"

Kihyun felt a pang in his heart as those words left . It wasn't the first time she was a bit cold to him. They started out as friend pretty well. Always hanging out together and it was fun until it stopped about a month ago. He didn't know why but he missed hanging around her.

She was his first friend and crush.

He just didn't think they would be a good idea because of their mothers working together but sometimes he couldn't help but wanting to be around her more. He always thought she was cute and pretty. Her heart is beautiful. Despite seeing her haze another girl at school but he was glad it ended.

Kihyun had a good eye of observing others. He did it for a long time and especially within the two years he had been living next to Jennie. At first, his mother told him to watch out for her since his mother and her mother were partners, but along the way he didn't just want to watch out for her because of that. He slowly developed feelings for her.

Now, he feels confused since she won't talk to him as much as before. He sighed as he leaned against the door frame as she was looking for something to change into.

She saw me talking to that girl?

Does that mean she is jealous?

Heh.

"Why do you care if I'm talking to a girl?" he asked waiting for her to turn her head but she didn't.

She scoffed and found her top and threw it to her bed. "I don't, just don't make it obvious to the whole campus."

Kihyun bit his bottom lip to stop himself from smiling. "You wouldn't be jealous would you?"

Jennie stopped what she was doing and gave him a smile again. "What do you want Kihyun?"

He pushed himself off the door frame walking into her room. He bit his bottom lip for a moment before he smirked at her. "Answer my question and I'll tell you my reason why I'm here."

Answering the one question will just make her reveal her true feelings for him and it was the last thing she wanted since she had tried for two years but he didn't take the hint. Boys do take a while to figure out what a girls intentions are these day.

"Well?" he took a step closer with only few feet away from each other. "I'm waiting."

Jennie smirked and stared at him in his brown eyes. "Now why would I be jealous of someone who is no competition."

Kihyun's lips curled up into a smile as he looked down at the floor taking in her answer that just made his heart jump fast. He moved his head up with a smile still on his face. "Get dressed and come over. My friends will be over soon, we are having pizza."

"Right, like I want to be around a bunch of guys on a school night for dinner." Jennie turned back to her closet and grabbed her sweats and threw them on the bed. She closed the door and put her hands on her hips.

"Jooheon is paying for it and I know you don't have anything ready to eat. So take my invite and come over." He said smiling and turned around closing the door behind him.

Scoffing with an eye roll Jennie couldn't believe at how he was being. He liked to tease and play around but it never did anything good for her heart that was doing crazy jumps that didn't stop. She sighed as she got dressed and went back into her bathroom to put one cream for her face and hair to make it soft and smell nice.

- - -

Kihyun was sitting around his friends as they were talking amongst themselves being loud with their laughs. He couldn't think straight at times when Jennie was all he could think about just twenty minutes ago.

It had been that way for a while. He wanted to make it right but he just didn't know how. Then today with her cold shoulder treatment he was getting. It bothered him.

Something must be bothering her.

But what?

A light knock was heard from a distance and Jennie came in with a smile. She made eye contact with Kihyun for a moment then averted her eyes to Hyungwon and Minhyuk. She was closer with them and sat between them on the sofa. Although Minhyuk was arguing with Jooheon about some song that made Jennie get up and go to the kitchen table.

Hyungwon got up as well and went to keep her company. He smiled at her. "You ok?"

Jennie didn't say much. Her silence gave the answer.

"You should just come clean already. Stop waiting." he said as he leaned closer soothing her back. Aside from Jooheon, Hyungwon was second person who knew about her feeling for Kihyun. He figured it out one day when they were hanging out. Since then, Hyungwon keeps her company whenever she is around with the group of boys.

She always looked forward to see Hyungwon since he is a sweet gentlemen and would be there for her. He once kept her mind busy when she saw Kihyun and a girl talking together at the night club. They were only talking a first but the girl then leaned over to Kihyun and kissed his cheek.

Jennie was heartbroken yet again and Hyungwon took her home. Kihyun came over worried knowing she had come home. The only bad part of that night, was that she didn't want to see him. Hyungwon told him to go home and see her later.

"It's just hard and I have other things on my mind." she said quietly as she pushed her empty plate away.

"Like what?" he asked tilting his head.

Jennie sighed and looked over for a moment and let out a smile as a tears slowly went down her cheek. She quickly pushed it away and stood up. "Tell Jooheon thanks for the pizza, I need to get back home to do homework."

Hyungwon stood up next to her. "I'll go home with you and that way we can talk."

There was no chance in winning with him. He was basically like an older brother to her. He worried, cared and wanted her to be happy as well.

Kihyun came into the kitchen and saw Jennie with Hyungwon as they were standing. "Are you coming to join us?"

"No Kihyun, I have homework." Jennie said to him. "Some of us want to pass our classes you know."

"I'm going with her." Hyungwon replied back making Kihyun look at him. Silence fell around them as it was only stares going back and forth between the three.

Kihyun gave them a nod and started rinsing the cups. "See you later."

Jennie stared at his back for a moment and walked out telling her friends goodbye as Hyungwon came over.

It was going to be a long night.

- - -

The time was one forty-five in the morning and Hyungwon was still with Jennie. They had a long talk about what was really bothering her. He sighed as he passed her another tissue to blow her nose. Nothing could replace the pain of the heart that she was feeling unless it was the one person who could.

"You shouldn't feel that way Jennie." Hyungwon sighed as he crossed his legs. "He does care about you."

She shook her head. "There is no point anymore, I've tried for two years and nothing. But a pretty girl with a pretty face comes along and --"

"Stop." he cut her off. "That girl means nothing to him. She was only asking him a question on a survey for class."

"How do you know that?" she asked him rolling her eyes.

"I know because she asked me a question about if I prefer hip hop over pop music." he said with a smile. "Your over thinking things."

Jennie closed her eyes and let out a sigh. "You should get going. You don't want your mom worrying."

He smiled and gave her hand a squeezed before getting off the bed. She walked him to the door and gave each other a hug before shutting the door and locking it. Jennie made sure everything was locked up before going back to her room and locking it herself. She got under the covers and felt her heavy eyes take over.

The later morning came and Jennie wasn't in the mood for school. She stay in bed and went back to sleep. One day won't hurt her.

Talking to Hyungwon took off a heavy weight but all that was left was still pain from everything else. Nothing could change that.

Jennie shut her eyes once again and went back to sleep.

- - -

Kihyun was walking around campus headed to his next class until he saw a familiar face. He smiled going up to her and poked her head making it move back. She hissed and saw who was it was. "What was that for?"

Kihyun shrugged his shoulders. "No reason. Just wanted to bother my cousin."

She laughed shaking her head. "Don't you have a girlfriend for that?"

He stayed quiet and sighed. "Have you seen Jennie? I know you guys have two classes together."

"We do, but she isn't coming." she said answering his question.

"Why not? Did something happen to her?" He asked feeling his heartbeat pick up its pace.

His cousin raised her eyebrows curiously. "You both live next door, doesn't she tell you these things?"

"She isn't talking to me as much anymore. It more like avoiding now."

"What did you do?" she asked crossing her arms.

"Hey!" a voice as heard in a distance.

The two moved their heads and saw Bobby making his way over.

"Who are you and why are you talking to my girlfriend?" he asked placing his arm around his girls waist.

Kihyun smirked letting out a laugh as he stared at his cousin. "Wow, Jooheon was right. He is a jealous one."

"Excuse me?" Bobby retorted taking a step forward but got stopped by his girl.

"Relax. I'm just talking to my cousin. I don't see her all the time."

Bobby widen his eyes as he looked at Kihyun and Jeongyeon. "Your cousins?"

Jeongyeon smiled with a nod. "Kihyun moved around a lot because of his mom's work. But two years ago she moved back to the city here and I've seen Kihyun once in a while."

Bobby sighed shutting his eyes before opening them again. "Sorry man, I didn't mean

Chapter 1: This was really good! The only thing though, I feel that Jennie and her mom should've had a more proper talk. Only because of how big of an issue that was to Jennie. It would've made a bigger impact and could've gave the story a smoother resolution.

If you ever choose to continue this it would cool to explore Jennie's relationship with her friends as well, just to know them better. It was really cute and it's good that Jennie can be friends with Kihyun's friends as well.
