Blood, Sweat, and Magic

Description

Taehyung had been sleepwalking for weeks, waking to find himself more tired than when he had fallen asleep. His hands stained with paint. What he didn’t know was that he had been spray painting strange symbols on the walls all over the city. He finds out when he awakes mid spray to the sounds of police sirens.

As he sits, officers interrogating him, a knock at the door interrupts them. The door is opened and a guy, very obviously not a cop strolls in and a moment later they are alone. The guy, obviously no older then himself, sits before him and smiles.

“We’ve been looking for you for a long time” The mysterious orange haired man says “If you don’t want them to arrest you, come with me”

It’s not much of a choice, he thinks as the man stands, and waits.

What he learns from this man is something that will change his life.

Foreword

For the past 4 months, Taehyung had felt like he hadn’t gotten any sleep. No matter how early he went to sleep, or how late he slept in, he never felt like he had gotten more than an hour or two of sleep.

Even stranger, he always awoke with paint covering his hands. He’d always check his little apartment, hoping maybe he might be a midnight sleepwalking Van Gogh, maybe find a masterpiece. That was never the case, though he found a couple of spray cans by the door of his apartment, which was strange because he couldn’t remember ever buying them.

The exhaustion was getting worse by the day, making his boss increasingly more agitated by his mistakes. On more than one occasion he had been yelled at for falling asleep at the register. Today though, was apparently the last straw.

“Just go home!” his boss yelled, jolting him awake “Don’t bother coming in tomorrow; you’re no use here if you’re asleep!”

Taehyung mumbled an apology and gathered his belongings, walking towards the bus station. He reached the station, sitting at the bench and taking out his phone. He sighed as he checked the time. He had just missed the last bus and it’d be a half hour until the next one home. ‘I could just walk’ even as he thought this, his eyes were sliding closed, head drooping. He just wanted to sleep. Just 5 minutes. He just…needed to… close…his…eyes…

A burst of bright color shone beneath his eyelids, purples and grey seemed to splash over his mind. Was his mind wandering, or was this a dream? Suddenly a ribbon of neon green swirled around in the pool of purple and grey. It danced into beautiful patterns, splitting into pieces and swirling into all different symbols. The symbols stood out boldly from the purple and grey, something about it just felt so….. complete. Like something that he had been missing was with him finally. He felt at peace.

WWwwwwooooooOOOWWwwwooooOOOO

The calm was shattered, Taehyung opened his eyes. Before him was a brick wall covered by the symbols that had been dancing behind his eyelids. He turned slowly and was greeted by flashing lights that accompanied the ear splitting siren. He raised his hands slowly as a police officer stomped over to him, grabbing him by the arm and pushing him against the police car. The officer was reading him his rights as cuffs restrained his arms and he was shoved into the backseat.

What the hell had happened?
