Prologue


Looking at the rain from his dorm window didn’t help Kim Junsu to accept his fate. He hated his fate. He damn hated it. He even cursed the rain and hoped there’s no rain in this world.

Five years old was the age when children playing around, yet, at that time, Kim Junsu fell for a boy who he liked the most in the world. He couldn’t help but giggled when he was in the same football team as him. But fate told him to leave his love; his parents moved from the village to the city, he left his hometown.

Junsu didn’t have friend except a boy, who named Hyuk Jae in his elementary school. They would go home together every single day, spent time on the rooftop at lunch, play football together. Apparently, Junsu was the one who always won. 

Fate played with him; just when he realized he had feelings for Hyuk Jae, he discovered Kangin, his schoolmate, was his crush’s boyfriend. Again, his heart went down, sinking to the deepest pit.

Being high school student was a huge change for Kim Junsu. He felt weird of himself. Boys were supposed to like girls and so the girls were supposed to like the boys. Yet, he couldn’t help but to fall for a boy, who sat next to him, Shin Kang Dae.

Kang Dae was one of the most popular guys there, having girls adoring him all the way. He’s good at sport, lesson, and looks. Three completed arc that’s created by the God.

God knew why Junsu couldn’t resist the man, and like his liking, Kang Dae approached him. They became best friend in no time, hanging out together. When there’s Kang Dae, there’s Junsu. They had been friend till they graduated and now they’re in the same university.

Exactly one month ago, Junsu decided to tell his feeling to the man. He was expected to be rejected or called weird or even lost his friendship with Kang Dae. But, miracle did exist, Kang Dae received Junsu’s feeling and they went on date.

The first date was shocking to Junsu because Kang Dae brought him to a nightclub. Well, he liked dancing, but he always wanted to have a romantic candlelight dinner with his boyfriend. Junsu wanted someone who’s deadly romantic because he was sure he wouldn’t happier than to have that.

“And now look at me…” Junsu mumbled to himself as he decided to close the window curtain, ignoring the sound of droplet by droplet. He would shoot Poseidon down if the God really existed, at least, if that would stop the rain.

“I hate being in love…” Junsu spoke as he hissed frustrated,” I DAMN HATE FALLS IN LOVE!”

Nothing could be heard except the soft sobs from inside his bedroom; he just needed to cry it all out and hoped for better tomorrow; hoping neither rain nor tears existed anymore.


Umbrella


A man in black sweater, dark blue jeans, and white shirt was walking on the hallway. He took his briefcase as he looked again at the small paper he got. Room 303, he looked around and saw a sign on the wall. 

Still pulling his briefcase, he turned right as he reached the end of the hall. Room 303 was right in front of him. Afraid he would intrude his new roommate, he decided to knock.

“…Yes?” a beautiful voice called from inside, seriously, the man thought it’s an angel’s voice. He would die of heart attack if that’s really an angel.

Shaking his head frantically, he answered,” It’s me, your new roommate…”

He could hear clicking sound as the door opened. He couldn’t blink even for a second because an angel was indeed what he saw.

“…Um, you can come in, you know,” the angel spoke as he welcomed the man,” My name is Kim Junsu by the way…”

“Um, nice to meet you, I’m Park Yoochun…” the man spoke as he straightened his glasses as his bowl hair made Junsu wanted to laugh. Later on, the man began to open his briefcase and put things here and there. Well, Junsu already made his territory of course. The left side is his; the right is the nerd’s.

Oh, had I told U that Junsu decided to call Yoochun ‘Nerd’ in his mind rather than Yoochun? Well, that’s simply because the aura Park Nerd gave him made him chill, like he’s in the same room with a genius child from Mars or Pluto. Wait, Pluto wasn’t a planet anymore…Anyway, had he mention the word Nerd?

Junsu decided to go for his class; he had to give his project today. That’s why late wasn’t an option.

“Um, I have class now, see you around…” Junsu spoke as he left, not even blinking for Park Nerd who said goodbye to him.

*Junsu’s POV*

After class, I decided to go to the new-opened café with my best dongsaeng ever (except his craziness for food, that’s the worst, I just couldn’t imagine him blown up). His major was foodtech (I told you he’s crazy for food). I already told him to get married to his banana, of course. Wait, banana?

Anyway, we arrived there and because lack of sleep (most of it because I had been crying much, why in the world I just can’t forget him?), I slipped and almost hit my so-perfect-pointed nose into the wall. Luckily, a guy, who I considered as hot came and saved me in time. He’s my prince charming!

Just before I could say thank you, he disappeared into a thin air. Geez, I hate being like this, I fell in love too much already and failed too much already. Kang Dae was my biggest mistake.

I really really thought he loved me, but few days ago, I discovered him playing around with girls in nightclub. I asked him what he meant by that, you know what, he was drunk and he showered me with his beer, telling that he had so much fun with me.

What the heck? Fun? Was I just for fun? I couldn’t help but hit him straight on his face and stormed out from the nightclub. I was so blind, I knew that was coming.

Kang Dae didn’t pay much attention at me after our first dating, it’s like he went further and further from me. I knew he’s not my true love by then, but it’s just so hard to forget and forgive. The years I was with him as his best friend was the best memory I ever had until now because, like I said, I’m doomed in my love life. It’s just . At least I made friend, who now I called traitor because he never really liked me as friend in the first place, he just wanted to play with me; sale those fake friendship.

“Hyung…I’ll eat your cheese cake if you keep spacing like that…” Changmin spoke from the opposite direction of my seat. I just nodded as I ate it silently. Well, I’m in my daydreaming like always.

No, no, no, not with that son-of-bastard-Shin-Kang-Dae. I was dreaming about the guy who saved me earlier. I swore he looked so damn-freaking-hot; he’s my-freaking-ideal-type. I couldn’t catch his face well, but I knew he was wearing a dolphin watch just like a child, despite his little curly hair that was sparkling, the soft hand that caught mine, the tempting eyes. I wondered why…

Suddenly, my commitment rang on my ears. Yes, I had decided to stop falling in love. I should stop thinking about the man, but I just couldn’t get him out of my mind.

I still on my daydreaming till I realized Changmin had left and well, he left me with the bill. I would break his ribs later for sure!

*End of Junsu’s POV*

“Hey…” the Park Nerd greeted Junsu as he fell on his bed.

“…Is today that tiring?” he asked, trying to make a conversation there, but Junsu was too lazy to chat with the Nerd. He ended up fell asleep on the bed without taking his shoes and bag off.

The nerd stopped doing what he did as he looked at the angel sleeping peacefully, just like small child. Yoochun shook his head as he slowly sat on the corner of Junsu’s bed. He undid the shoes as he put it right at the place, then he took the bag and put it on the table.

“…Don’t you remember me, Junsu ah?” Yoochun whispered softly as he used his sweater to cover the sleeping man. 

The nerd-looking-guy decided to keep doing what he did, as he watched the angel slept every few minutes.

*Junsu’s POV*

“Changmin ah! I just seriously can’t take it!” I whined over and over again.

“That’s why I asked hyung what exactly happened,” Changmin spoke as he ate his small lollipop; a bribe for him to hear my freaking-ewww-and-yucks-this-can’t-be-happening-story.

“You know Park Ner…I mean Park Yoochun right? He’s my new roommate and I thought he’s a gay and a maniac! Kyaaa~ help me!” I just couldn’t help it and poured it all on Changmin,” There’s one time I fell asleep and then I discovered he took of my shoes and put my bag on the table. I didn’t ask him to do that! Then, then, there’s also time when I slipped on the bathroom, he took me in bridal style and tended my wound softly. I even discovered that he…staring at me…so…intensively…”

“You’re insane hyung, everyone know who’s Park Yoochun. He’s a genius in---“ making you happy. Changmin didn’t manage to finish his sentence.

“No! It’s just his image! Seriously Changmin! Help me! Change room with me please…” I pleaded and pleaded, yet, no was the only answer I got. I damn freaking doomed.

“Hyung, just let it be…I think Yoochun hyung is OK. He cares about you a lot you know, despite the fact that your---“ rascal behavior almost killed him the other day, when you accidently hit him with rocks

“No!!! Don’t you side him, Changmin!” I shouted desperately as I shook my dongsaeng, I would tear him into small pieces, I swore!

“But, hyung he lov---“

“Stop! I don’t want to hear it anymore!” I angrily stormed out from there, leaving Changmin alone.

*Yoochun’s POV*

I went to have some lunch at the cafeteria today. I passed the library and that’s when I heard his voice. Worried, I decided to check and I found him chatting with Changmin. I smiled when his crazy expression appeared; still too much like before. 

I heard all of their conversation. That’s when I felt my heart broke into pieces, no, millions of pieces. He hated me, Junsu hated me.

I failed.

“What the heck is happening to me?!” Junsu screamed in frustration as he walked back and front. He had surely gone crazy ever since Park Nerd moved to his room. It’s like he could be so stupid if the Park Nerd was there; his mind simply won’t function anymore because his heart beat so damn fast, like he’s having heart attack or something.

Wait, heart been beat so fast, he knew what that was. L-O-V-E. That’s how it spelled; Junsu was in love with freaking-Nerd-Park-Yoochun. He promised he wouldn’t fall in love again, not again!

As he thought what’s going to happen from now on, a lightning struck outside as the door suddenly opened. Junsu froze at that moment, because what he saw didn’t make any sense.

The same guy that saved him at the café weeks ago was right in front of him. Curly hair, tempting eyes, and all, but one huge different, he was in Park Nerd’s clothes.

“…Who…are you?” Junsu managed to speak the word between his shocked voices.

“ You know who I’m Junsu,” the man said, he moved closer but Junsu moved back. Every step the man took to the front, Junsu took another step to the back. 

Sighing, the man finally gave up. He took a watch from his pocket, it’s the dolphin watch. He put it on Junsu’s desk as he smiled bitterly.

“…Guess the one who remembered is just me…” that’s the time when Junsu 100% sure that’s Park Yoochun he’s seeing, the real Park Yoochun, not Park Nerd.

Yoochun took his briefcase which he had prepared as Junsu finally realized how empty Yoochun’s space inside their bedroom. Yoochun was planning to go.

“Stop!” Junsu shouted as he continued,” I don’t know what’s happening! You can’t just leave without explaining things to me!”

Yet, bitter smile was all he got, Yoochun didn’t stop. His figure disappeared from the hallway as Junsu lost his capability to talk or even walk. He couldn’t help but put his mind into thinking mode.

“God, please tell me what should I do! I don’t have any idea what’s happening here!” Junsu screamed in his head as he decided to look at the dolphin watch on his desk. He somehow recognized the watch.

[FLASHBACK]

“You won’t go will you?” a small boy sobbed hard as he hugged the other boy.

“I don’t want to go, but I need to…” the other spoke. The boy gave his dolphin watch to the crying boy. That night neither of them spoke, they just cried as hugging each other, vowed to each other they would never forget their promise.

[END OF FLASHBACK]

“…Chunnie?” Junsu couldn’t believe what he had done. He got up as he rushed to find Yoochun. He didn’t care his stupid promise to himself that he wouldn’t fall in love anymore; all he wanted to do was find Yoochun and told him he remembered their vows.

Running like a mad man, he passed Changmin.

“Yaa! Hyung, Yoochun didn’t go that way, he went to the front gate!” Changmin shouted. Junsu nodded as he went to the front gate. Now everything made sense. 

Remember Junsu’s first love story when he’s five? When he left the boy he loved to move into the city? That boy was no other than Park Yoochun. And Changmin, he’s one of Junsu’s friend from village who apparently in the same university with him. That’s why Changmin knew who Yoochun was.

“Chunnie!!!” Junsu didn’t bother to catch his breath neither to cover himself from the rain. All he knew was that he hugged Yoochun tightly from behind as the time stopped for him. It just stopped. Like the world stopped spinning around.

“…Junsu?” Yoochun couldn’t believe what’s happening.

“Please don’t go! Don’t go! I remembered our vows! I’m sorry for being so dump and pretend to hate you even though I love you! I’m sorry!” Junsu said as he cried. 

All he knew was Yoochun’s lips already on his, as he got his first kiss. Well, he didn’t do it when he’s with Kang Dae and he was so glad now he didn’t do that. Yoochun wiped his tears softly as he whispered ‘I love you’ back to Junsu. 

The vow they made must be a joke for some people. They vowed to be married to each other when they met again as an adult. That’s just simply because the pinky promise they made as a child. Yet, Yoochun’s love for Junsu kept growing from day to day. As for Junsu, he couldn’t forget Yoochun and so he decided unconsciously to get all the love he needed and messed up his love life. Both of them were just too desperate for each other.

“Both of my hyung deul are idiots,” Changmin showed up with an umbrella,” I tried to tell you that Yoochun hyung loves you, Junsu hyung…”

Junsu couldn’t help but smack his dongsaeng as the three of them laughed just like the three idiots in one of the Bollywood’s movie. The three of them walked to get a shelter as Yoochun took his briefcase back to the dorm.

“Let me be your umbrella when it rains, protecting this angel who my heart belongs to …” Yoochun silently whispered to Junsu as he kissed his blushing cheek. Junsu was sure, the best time he would ever had had just started.


Epilogue


“Why Nerd?” Junsu asked as he still playing with his boyfriend’s hair.

“What Nerd?” his boyfriend asked as he lazily rubbed his eyes, his other hand grasped Junsu’s hip softly as he made the space between their bodies decreased.

“Chunnie~” Junsu whined because he could feel Yoochun’s breathe as he blushed,” I mean…Why did you show up with Nerd image when we first met?”

Smile carved on Yoochun’s lips as he opened his eyes, blinking once and twice as finally he decided to kiss the sweet angel he loved the most.

“...Um!” Junsu didn’t expect this coming, yet, he enjoyed the kiss as much as Yoochun. They just couldn’t stop hugging and kissing each other despite the fact they just made love last night.

“Because…” Yoochun caressed Junsu’s cheek,” Because that was what I was…I was Nerd-looking-guy till I graduated from High School and I wanted to know whether you still love me or not; just like our promise…”

“Of course I love you! Even if you’re the Nerd-est person in the Universe!” Junsu declared,” It’s just…I’m a bit late to realize that…”

“Um…” Yoochun nodded,” But I’m glad this turn right.”

“Me too…I finally have my happy ending, yey!” Junsu cheered like a small child.

“No, you’re wrong, Su,” Yoochun hugged Junsu from behind as they shared the same body temperature inside the blanket,” Our happy ending just about to begin…”

That morning, the rain fell hard and lightning could be heard, but Kim Junsu didn’t care. He used to hate rain so much, hoping he would shoot Poseidon down to stop the God from making rain. But now, he thanked Poseidon for every droplet because those made him realized he got his own umbrella, Park Yoochun.
