"Never ignore a person who loves you, cares for you and misses you. Because one day you might wake up and realize that you lost the moon while counting the stars"

A framed picture of a couple decorated the desk,

Their smiles so bright,

Their love so right,

He gazed lovingly at his significant other,

A blush dusted her pale cheeks at their close proximity,

Care evident in her stare,

She was drowning in his warm embrace,

He was drowning in her sweet scent,

Both were drowning in the love they once shared.

The male could only blame himself for how things turned out,

If he hadn’t taken her for granted,

If he hadn’t treated her badly,

If he had shown her how much she meant to him,

She would have stayed,

She wouldn’t have left,

And she wouldn’t have taken a piece of his heart when she did.

The young man sat on the bed they used to share,

His mind re-playing his most treasured memories,

His memories of her,

Of their love.

“I love you”

A sweet smile played on her lips as she gazed at the man who held her heart captive,

The latter tightened his hold on her waist,

That precious smile of his (showcasing his signature dimple) lightening up his handsome features,

“And I you”

He softly whispered before sealing their confession with a much awaited kiss.

He missed her,

He terribly did,

He missed her smile,

Her laugh,

Her all.

Her laughter rang in the apartment as he tickled her senseless,

The sound was akin to a beautiful melody,

One he never got tired of hearing,

One he loved dearly,

And as he gazed into her hazel orbs,

He felt as if he was the luckiest man on earth,

He felt undeserving of a “perfect” being such as herself,

And the smile she wore,

Made him fall in love with her even more.

As time went by,

He became distant,

He started to neglect her,

To cancel their dates (“Practicing” was his most used excuse),

To get irritated with every single thing she did, (He would lash out on her for the simplest of reasons)

The things he found endearing at first became annoying,

His “I love you’s” became rare,

They became forced,

Rehearsed,

The care in his eyes vanished,

He barely held her, let alone touched her.

He barely listened to her.

She tried to hold on to him,

To their love (what was left of it anyway),

But he would always let go,

He would always let go first.

She went to hold his hand, missing the warmth it emitted,

A soft smile played on her pink lips as she intertwined their fingers together.

Myungsoo didn’t bother to glance at her as they continued strolling through the park.

However, her happiness was shortly-lived as he harshly let go of her hand,

Placing his own inside his coat’s pocket,

A clear sign that he did not want to hold her hand,

Not now,

Not ever.

She slowed down her pace,

A frown present on her face,

While he continued walking,

Paying her no attention.

Coldness engulfed her being as she watched his figure move forward,

While she remained in the back,

Discarded without a single glance.

She soon halted her steps,

Hoping he’d turn around,

Hoping he’d realize her absence,

Hoping he’d care enough to look behind him,

To look at her,

But he didn’t,

He never did,

He continued on as if she wasn’t even there,

And maybe,

Just maybe to him she wasn’t.

A tear fell
