“You’re a prick and I hate you!”

“Seungyoon, baby, we both know that’s not true now--”

A muffled sob immediately silenced the Alpha, causing his alarm bells to go off and a wave of panic and concern to rush through his body. Every single muscle in Mino’s body tensed and he could literally hear his heart breaking into thousand pieces.

“Love, are you crying?” Mino asked, voice soft and full of worry as he took a step towards the locked bathroom door, where his mate had disappeared and refused to come out.

“N-no--” the younger hiccupped, failing miserably in his attempt to suppress the pitiful sobs from bubbling from his throat while pearl shaped tears ran down his pale puffy cheeks. Seungyoon knew that he was being a diva, acting like the overdramatic guy from the Snickers commercials before taking a bite from the chocolate bar but the Omega just couldn’t help but feel devastated.

Christmas had always been his favourite time of the year and ever since he had moved in with his Alpha and they had started working, the time they spent together had drastically decreased. With Mino’s career taking off and him climbing up the ladder all the way to the CEO position, the older male often came home completely exhausted, barely able to keep his eyes open and sometimes even too tired to take off his suit before sleep would knock him out and he’d slump onto their bed. They were both not teenagers anymore. They were adults, had bills to pay and had both feet firmly planted on the ground. And with Christmas being all about family and love, the Omega had hoped that they would maybe take some time out of their packed schedules to just bask in each other’s presence; be mushy and decorate their apartment just like couples would usually do in the dramas Seungyoon was obsessed with. The younger male had taken the afternoon off after begging his co-worker Seunghoon to take over his classes, to which the beta had grumpily agreed to because deep down he had a weak spot for the young music professor. Seungyoon had spent hours running around town to buy a gigantic Christmas Tree, fancy LED lights, crystal ornaments and tinsel to decorate the tree and set a festive atmosphere inside their apartment. The Omega had barely made it home on time to cook dinner for both of them but having mastered the art of time management, the younger proved that he was the real life version of Ethan Hunt from Mission Impossible. Everything had went according to plan; they had enjoyed the pasta Seungyoon had cooked, talked about their day and started decorating the tree together. That was until Mino accidentally knocked the tree over all together with the fragile ornaments which didn’t survive the crash. But what had pushed the shorter male to ultimately lock himself inside their bathroom and burst into tears was that his mate had laughed it off and didn’t even lock apologetic, going as far as to make stupid jokes about it.

“Open the door, dearest.” Mino urged softly, his own wolf at him for making their mate cry, wanting nothing more but to wrap his arms around his Omega’s lithe frame.

“No! G-go away.” Seungyoon pressed out stubbornly, going against his nature as an Omega which was to follow his Alpha’s orders because he was too angry to care about what his wolf wanted, sob after sob ripping through his chest.

Mino knew that he was not playing fair, that using the power he possessed as an Alpha over his mate was a dirty move but it was either that or turning into a barbarian and kicking the door open so he could dry his Omega’s tears and pull him into his embrace. “Seungyoon, love, open the door. Now.” the older male finally said, voice still careful and soft but now with a firm edge to it.

Emitting a soft whimper in response to the latter’s command, the shorter male reluctantly scrambled up onto his feet, no longer hugging his legs and crying with his back leaned against the door like the rebellious kids in the movies.

As soon as the younger wolf obediently had done as he had been told and the lock gave a soft click, the door immediately flew open, startling the Omega who hadn’t been granted even a split second for his brain to comprehend what was happening and instead he was pulled into a tight embrace, strong muscular arms wrapping securely around his lithe frame while the familiar scent Seungyoon associated with home crept up his nostrils, invaded his senses.

“I am so sorry, love. Please don’t cry…” Mino’s deep voice slightly echoed in the spacious bathroom and instead of spitting a snarky reply at the latter, the shorter male stayed silent for a moment, simply hiding his face in the other’s rock hard chest, listening to his rapid heartbeat and absorbing the comforting warmth of Mino’s body.  

“Let go of me. I am still mad at you.” the raven haired male growled, his voice not sounding as threatening and spiteful as the younger had hoped for. It were moments like this where the wolf desperately wished he would have been born as an Alpha or at least a Beta but no, he just had to present as an Omega, because he was absolutely defenceless when it came to his mate’s scent and the pheromones the Alpha’s healthy body naturally emitted, basically radiating from him and creating an invisible shield; a warning to everyone to not mess with him. So even though Milo was the culprit and solely responsible for Seungyoon’s tears, the younger’s body ruthlessly betrayed him as he couldn’t help but relax in the latter’s hold, Mino’s addictive scent combined with the older male tenderly nuzzling at his sensitive neck having a fatal effect on him.

“I was an idiot--”
