143?

It was another normal day at school for Jiho; studying, writing notes, gossiping about teachers, complaining about how hungry she was, joking around with her classmates and bestfriends, Binnie, Yooa and Mimi until suddenly two students came to their table during lunch break.

Jiho looked up, recognizing the two students as their juniors when she noticed their student tags. One of them that she recognized was Hyun Seunghee, the President of Arts and Performing Club of the school. Yooa and Mimi were also a part of the club, so they sometimes hanged out with the tiny president. Seunghee was famous in the school for being the president in her junior year, but despite that she was friendly with everyone. She was considered as this little ball of sunshine because of her bright personality. Jiho knew the other girl also as she was always with Seunghee, but she never talked to her before. And she always found that tiny girl cute. The girl timidly stood behind Seunghee, and strangely she was looking at her with this nervous stare.

" Ah, hey Seung! Come and sit here with us. " said Yooa, gesturing the juniors to sit on the empty spot beside her.

Shaking her head, " It's okay, I'm just accompanying my friend here. She has something to say to Jiho unnie. " Seunghee giggled, pushing the other girl slightly until she was face to face with Jiho.

The girl wanted to hide again but Seunghee held her on the spot. She fidgetted, somehow her ears were getting redder.

Jiho raised her eyebrows, eyes went big, " Me? " she pointed to herself.

Seunghee bumped with her shoulder, urging her friend to say something. The girl seemed hesitated, but after a while, she slowly lifted her head, eyes shyly looking at Jiho.

She bowed abit, " H-hi, unnie. Um, I have something to tell you.. "

" Sure.. what is it? " smiled Jiho.

The girl held out her hands shakily and gave a small paper to the older girl. Jiho took the yellow paper, giving the junior a confused look before looking what was written on the paper.

Mimi elbowed Yooa before whispering, " I think I know where this leads to. "

Yooa spared a glance at Seunghee and the junior just winked at her, confirming the assumptions that they thought of.

143

There was nothing else on the paper other than the three random numbers. Jiho's face was blank, couldn't understand anything. She made that confused look again as she turned to look at the girl.

" 143, okay.. Um, so what's that? Is that a secret code or something..? You need help in Maths? " asked Jiho bluntly.

Binnie, who was sitting beside her, facepalmed herself.

" God, you have no sense at all! " Binnie sighed, rolling her eyes when Jiho shot her a " what " expression.

Binnie ignored her, " Is that the common 143? " she asked the junior whose face was red probably from embarassment of the confession. Or was it because of Jiho's dumbness?

The girl nodded her head shyly.

" No offense, but our Jiho is really dumb when it comes to these things. So I think it's better if you just tell her straight. The normal way. She's very outdated. " interrupted Mimi.

Jiho made a face, threatening to hit Mimi later which Mimi shrugged nonchalantly.

" Ah, um okay.. Jiho unnie.. I.. " the girl clasped her hands together, palms sweating.

Jiho nodded her head, encouraging her to continue. Seeing Jiho being curious, the girl heaved a sigh before gathering her courage.

" I like you, Jiho unnie! W-will you go out with m-me? "

Jiho was taken aback at the sudden confession from the junior that she barely knew. It was her first time to receive a confession from a girl, hence she didn't know how to react. The girl didn't seem like she was joking because the way her eyes looked at her was like she was expecting the answer from her. Silence engulfed the group for awhile until Binnie pinched her thigh, snapping her back into reality.

" The heck!? It hurts- " hissed Jiho as she rubbed the aching spot.

" Well then, answer her! Do you plan on making her waiting for it? She looks like she gonna faint from the embarassment with her beet red face... " said Binnie, half whispering.

Jiho played with her fingers nervously, " Uh, well.. you aren't joking, right? "

" N-no, I really like you, unnie.. " said the girl softly.

The girl was really cute. Jiho couldn't help but to smile at her.

" Okay.. " replied Jiho.

The girl eyes went big, twinkling and sparkling at Jiho's reply.

" R-really? "

Jiho nodded slowly, confirming her answer. Seunghee squealed as she was side-hugging her friend happily.

" T-then do you want to..? " asked the girl as she tried to contain her excitement.

" Huh? Want what? " Jiho asked back, which earned a groan from Yooa who sat across her.

" You should ask for her number, idiot..! " mouthed Yooa to the ever clueless girl.

" Oh-oh. That. Yes. Number. Of course. " Jiho picked her phone from her school skirt and gave it to the junior. Her hands were shaky.

" Y-you can enter your number there.. " she said softly.

The girl quickly entered her number as the bell rang; indicating that the lunch break was over. She shoved back the device to Jiho before sprinting her way out of the cafeteria with Seunghee, giggling together. Jiho tapped on her phone screen, checking the new number, hoping the girl didn't forget to put her name in. Luckily she didn't.

Yewon
-
Jiho walked groggily through the gate, rubbing her eyes while yawning. She was heading to her classroom when she saw a quite familiar girl standing infront of her class. It was Yewon. Her hair was always styled in a high ponytail with some messy fringes covering her forehead. When she noticed the older girl, she bowed to which Jiho bowed back.

" H-hello. Good morning, unnie.. " Yewon greeted nervously.

Yewon's ears started to get red and Jiho couldn't help but to chuckle at it.

" Good morning too.. What are you doing here? " asked Jiho whilst fixing her long straight hair.

Yewon bit her lip, " Um.. I was waiting for you.. Y-you didn't text me yesterday, so I.. "

Jiho smacked her forehead.

" Ah.. I'm sorry. I guess I forgot to check on my phone.. I did assignments till late night.. Did you wait..? " she felt guilty.

Yewon shook her head, " N-no.. It's okay.. I just came to ask you if, um, we can have lunch break.. together.. "

Jiho thought for awhile before agreeing.

" Alright, I'll see you at the cafeteria then? " she smiled.

" Yes! " replied Yewon happily before leaving to her class.

" Ah.. she's cute.. " thought Jiho.
**
They were eating their foods in silent. Sometimes Jiho would asked the younger girl several stuffs, but most of the times they went quiet and just focusing on their meals. It was their first time eating together after all. Yewon was too shy and she kept blushing when she looked at Jiho, so she kept her head down. It made Jiho thinking that she felt uncomfortable with her, so she didn't say much. Suddenly a junior student came to their table. He grinned at Yewon.

" Arin, do you bring the stuffs for our project? " asked the boy.

Jiho furrowed her eyebrows, " Arin? " she thought to herself.

Yewon nodded, " Yea, I have all the stuffs that we needed for the project. I will give it to you after this. "

" Nice! Alright, see you at class then. " said the boy before leaving.

Yewon continued to munch on her meal when she noticed Jiho was looking at her with her round and big eyes.

" Y-yes unnie? Why..? "

" Who is Arin? " asked Jiho, curious.

Yewon laughed, " Ah.. That's my nickname. Arin. My classmates call me by that name. "

Jiho's mouth formed an " O " as she nodded.

" So can I call you, Arin too? I like that name. It's cute. "

Yewon blushed, " S-sure. I like that name better too. "

Jiho bit on her chopsticks, " You know.. Now we, we are going out, right..? "

Arin nodded after a few seconds, feeling shy from her confession yesterday.

" I don't know how much you know about me.. but I don't know much about you.. now that we are going out, um, I guess we need to, you know, talk about each other.. " uttered Jiho quietly.

Arin her lip nervously, " T-then do you want to go out? A d-date..? So we can talk more... "

Jiho smiled slightly.

" Sounds good. "
-
" So, how are you with Arin? You've been dating since like what? Three months? " asked Binnie out of the blue when the four friends gathered together at the back of the class.

" Three months and a half. Yea.. it's good. " Jiho blankly said.

Mimi quirked her expressive eyebrows, " Just good? That's all you gotta say about her? "

Jiho shrugged.

" Arin is nice. A cute girl. She's a girlfriend everyone wishes to have. It makes me think what did I do for her to like me. She never said why she likes me. And I never bother to ask her.. because it's embarassing for me.. I guess I'm doing good for her? " she voiced out to her friends.

Yooa nodded, " It's hard because Arin is the shy type, while you are the type who won't do the first move in everything. How far you've gone with her? Kiss? Makeout? Or... "

Jiho was taken aback at Yooa's blunt questions. She looked at Yooa in disbelieve.

" N-no! Are you crazy!? She's underage..! " hissed Jiho angrily.

Yooa chuckled at Jiho's flustered face.

" Chill! I know that. But you don't need to wait for her to be legal to kiss her, though. She's old enough for that. " teased Yooa.

Jiho sighed, " But nowadays she acts abit different around me.. It feels like she's upset about something. "

While Jiho was talking about her concerns, Mimi, who was sitting facing the door, noticed Arin's arrival. She grinned as she motioned the younger girl to come in.

" Ah, hey! Finished your classes? " asked Jiho when she saw her girlfriend coming.

" Yes. " smiled Arin.

Jiho got up from her seat, stuffing her things in her bag, " Alright, I gotta send Arin homed. "

Binnie got up and Jiho pulled her for a hug, " See you tomorrow. "

She also hugged Yooa and Mimi while saying goodbyes as Arin just silently watching from the side. Arin couldn't deny, but she felt jealous. Almost four months into their relationship, but never once Jiho did those skinships with her. At first Arin thought Jiho was the type who didn't do skinships, but she was prove wrong when she saw Jiho being touchy with her friends. She tried to shrug it off, but she craved for Jiho's touches. She wondered why Jiho never did what lovers always did. Was it because Jiho still felt uncomfortable with her? Was it because Jiho was too shy? Or.. was it because Jiho didn't have feelings for her..? After all, she was the one who confessed to her. Now that she thought about it, she realized, Jiho never said she liked her. Not even once. It hit Arin like a truck.

" Arin? You okay? "

Jiho's voice brought her back to reality. She shook the thoughts off of her head, looking at Jiho with a smile on her face.

" I'm sorry.. Are you done? " asked Arin.

" Yea, let's go. Wanna grab your favorite cotton candy? "

Arin's face lighted up, " Sure! "
*
Arin was eating her cotton candy happily and Jiho was walking beside her as they headed for Arin's house that was located five blocks from Jiho's area. Jiho secretly stealing glances at Arin, smiling warmly because Arin seemed happy. She was grateful to have Arin with her. She was the type who didn't really talk about her feelings to people, but she really cherished her girlfriend. As time went by, she slowly developed feelings for the younger girl but of course, she didn't say it out loud. Arin was adorable, one could only wish to have her. She hoped she could express her feelings better, so Arin would know. She noticed the younger girl seemed abit off these days, and she thought maybe it was because Jiho barely told her sweet things. She felt guilty for that. She wished she knew what to do so Arin won't feel sad ever again. She was dying to shower the younger girl with kisses, hugs and skinships, but she was afraid Arin would feel uncomfortable. She was afraid Arin would push her away. She was afraid of losing Arin. Many times she had been restraining herself from hugging Arin. Many times she had been controlling herself from kissing Arin. Many times she stopped herself from saying sweet things to Arin, just because she didn't want to scare Arin. Arin was precious for her. She would wait for the right time.

Suddenly she heard a high-pitched scream which she recognized as Arin's. Jiho looked at her side, panicked when Arin no longer walking beside her. She frantically searched for her and saw the younger girl a few steps behind her, kneeling down while holding her knee. She quickly ran towards Arin to check on her.

" W-why? What happened? " asked Jiho, still in panic while frantically checking her and saw her knee was bleeding.

Arin bit her lip, hissing in pain, " You were walking too fast so I tried to catch up with you b-but I stumbled on a rock and fell... "

" Ah... I'm sorry.. I didn't realize I left you behind... " muttered Jiho apologetically.

She took out a handkerchief and wrapped it around Arin's scraped knee carefully.

" T-thank you.. " whispered Arin while trying to get up but Jiho stopped her.

Jiho got on her knee, motioning Arin to get on her back, " Get on my back. "

" N-no! It's okay, unnie..! I still can walk... " refused Arin, slowly getting up.

" I ain't let you walk like that. I don't want to leave you behind again.. " Jiho looked at her sternly.

Arin hesitated before slowly getting on Jiho's small back. She circled her arms around the older girl as Jiho put hers on Arin's legs, balancing herself and continued to walk.

Arin felt shy at their closeness, this was the first time they got this close since they started dating. But she loved it. She could feel Jiho's warmth. She could smell Jiho's scent. It was nice.

" A-are you okay? Am I h-heavy..? " asked Arin shyly.

Jiho chuckled, " You are the lightest human in the world ~ You're as heavy as cotton candy ~ Do you eat it everyday? "

" Ahhhh unnie~ D-don't tease me..! " whined Arin, burying her face on Jiho's neck.

" Arin, you're so cute.. How can I not tease you? "

Arin didn't know how it happened, but she gave a quick peck on Jiho's left cheek, and continued to bury her face on Jiho's back again.

She muttered, " I really like you, unnie... " her hold around Jiho tightened.

Jiho didn't respond, she just smiled as her cheeks went red. Hearing no response from Jiho, the thoughts from earlier filled Arin's head again.
-
" Arin, why are you so quiet? Does it really hurts? " asked Jiho concernly while she was wrapping the bandage on Arin's knee.

Arin didn't look at her and was just staring at the wall, completely ignoring Jiho ever since they arrived at Arin's house. At first she refused to let Jiho in to treat her wound but Jiho kept insisting so she had to comply to it. She felt disappointed and angry, but she couldn't tell it to Jiho. She was afraid they would get into a fight and she totally didn't want that. So instead she decided to keep quiet and ignored her.

" There, it's done. It will heal soon. " smiled Jiho in satisfaction.

Arin clenched her fists, " Y.. you can go home now. "

" You don't want me to stay? Did I do something wrong? You were okay just now. "

" I.. I have nothing else to say. You can leave. " Arin said with a heavy heart.

Jiho let out a sigh and gave a small smile, " Alright. I will leave now. "

Arin watched as Jiho leaving the room. She felt bad and she wanted her to stay, but she didn't want to burden Jiho anymore. The older girl didn't have feelings for her. Why would she still holding her back? Jiho probably agreed to go out with her because she pitied her. She hugged her knees, and realized there was something on the bandage.

A sticky note.

She took it and observed the words written on it. She had her watery eyes went wide.

Arin-nie, Choi Yewon,
My one and only cute girl,
143
I never get to say that
'Cause I'm too shy ~
But for you I will say it again
143, I like you alot!
I really, really like you <3

As soon as that, she jumped from the bed, forgetting her injured knee and sprinted her way to catch Jiho. She opened the front door and Jiho was about to close the gate so she ran and screamed her name to get her attention. Jiho was shocked to see the younger girl running towards her and engulfed her into a hug.

" W-what..? " gasped Jiho.

Arin tightened the hug, " Say it again. Say it now. I wanna hear it from you. "

Jiho's arms slowly wrapping themselves around Arin, bringing them closer.

" I.. I like you. " whispered Jiho.

" Again. " smiled Arin.

" I like you alot. I know I never told you that. But I really do. I'm sorry if it makes you sad. I just don't want to scare you... " confessed Jiho.

Arin broke the hug and they faced each other. Their eyes locked for awhile before their faces slowly leaning closer. They closed the gap with a quick peck on the lips and both of them went all shy.

Jiho laughed at Arin's embarassed face as the younger girl playfully throwing punches.

" It's like cotton candy. "
