i'm always watching you
The StarsNamjoon’s love of stars sometimes amazes Yoongi.
Without nobody knowing, with the telescope he got from one of the variety show, Namjoon would creep outside of their shared apartment; walking silently with tip-toeing to the elevator and brings him on the rooftop of the building, with shine of stars showers him along with his sparkling eyes and plugged ears.
(Yoongi isn’t following him, he just happen to tailing Namjoon in case the latter tries to make a runaway from his depression and ended up commit suicide.
Well, gladly Namjoon isn’t stupid enough to leave the world (and members) yet.)
It doesn’t happen every time; it only happen when Namjoon stressed enough to be silent and doesn’t talk to any of them for a day—not even to Taehyung, his beloved junior that he doesn’t really mind being bothered to.
By ears plugged with his often-lost-and-found earphones and listening God knows what, Namjoon often spent the night on the rooftop by stargazing for almost an hour before he spent the rest by laying his body on the cold floor and eyes on the sky although Yoongi isn’t sure what the younger male actually sees on those dark sky.
There absolutely nothing on the sky when the winter comes near; and Namjoon is idiot enough to still stargazing with those stupid telescope and figure layered with thick clothes.
But still, Yoongi isn’t one of those enthusiastic fellas who bother to tell Namjoon to stay away from the rooftop in winter.
Or, when Namjoon wasn’t in mood to stargazing, he would likely to bring his crumpled yellowish note and a pen with ears still plugged by earphones, spending the silence by himself as thick lips murmuring something while his hand busy writing down something on the note.
(When Yoongi checked the notes when Namjoon wasn’t around him, it was written with random things such as the latter’s favorite foods, his recent obsessions, and some random English words he barely understand.
The loneliness Namjoon had and written on those could be felt by Yoongi, yet he couldn’t say anything about it since the younger male doesn’t ask him for any consolation—and he’s bad at consoling someone.)
Actually, Yoongi could be upfront about it by middling Namjoon in his business and joining him to spend the night with stargazing with him, but the barrier the latter invisibly put near him—either it’s don’t bother me on me time or pretty please leave me on the moment and I’ll talk to you when the morning comes doesn’t allow him to get close.
Yoongi already knew Namjoon for almost six years and he knew he isn’t the type who would being sentimental when it comes about stars; sure, stars are pretty, but that was it. It was pretty when the stars was sprinkled everywhere in the sky, but it was lonely when the stars are away from each other and all people can see was dots of white in the dark sky.
It was merely used as Namjoon’s escape of their suffocating life as idols, and it actually kind of sad.
“Are you going to the rooftop?”
Yoongi finally bother enough to ask Namjoon who he reckon he hides his weapons (a crumpled yellowish note and a rusted pen) under his black coat.
Surprise is one of the mixtures of Namjoon’s facial expression as he asking back, seems doesn’t see it coming from Yoongi, “How did you know?”
Doesn’t bother one’s question is one of Yoongi’s specialty as his small feet heads to the kitchen, taking some of their coffees supplies to his arms as he exclaims, “Let me come with you.”
“Hyung—“
“Is it enough for us to stay awake until dawn?”
“Wait, Hyung, how did you—“
“Whether why I knew and not was none of your concern.” Struggling, he hands some of the coffee cans to Namjoon before he looks up to the latter. “But the more the merrier, right?”
Word hangs on Namjoon’s lips, trying to argue Yoongi’s sudden request yet he can’t help to sigh when the older male staring him with a judging look. “Fine.” But when Yoongi was about to speak, Namjoon cuts him off by “But don’t tell anyone that you come with me.”
“Lips sealed.” But Yoongi can’t help internally smiling.
“But Hyung, left two of those coffees. I still want to have a nice deep sleep when we return.”
“I’ll just bring us hot chocolates then.”
“Sounds the best idea ever.”
(Although Yoongi still doesn’t understand the fun of stargazing, being on Namjoon’s side when the latter busy writing something on his notes with sometimes looking up to the sky to enjoy the dim spark of stars, shared Namjoon’s earphone and listening to random English blues songs on Namjoon’s smartphone playlist, one thing that he is sure is the younger male bits by bits opens the barrier between them and being more open about the unspoken loneliness he had for the whole time.
It still takes time for Namjoon to break the ice with Yoongi, but it’s okay, he still can wait; he is going to wait until Namjoon finally willing to share his loneliness and his burden evenly with him, leans completely to him and let Namjoon knew that he isn’t alone in this world.
And that’s enough for Yoongi’s reason to stay with Namjoon on his stargazing routine for now on.)
if you ever watched problematic man where namjoon won the episode's prize probably you already have an idea where he got the telescope from.
